The essay that is presented intends to open a new front within the issues related to its production, and aims to take into consideration the relationship that Carlo Crivelli established with the miniature. The paper is inspired by the study of a neglected drop cap preserved at the Fitzwilliam Museum of Cambridge. In this miniature, cut out and coming from a gradual, the figure is clearly inspired by Saint Andrew the Apostle of the upper compartment of the polyptych of San Domenico di Ascoli Piceno signed and dated 1476, now held at the National Gallery in London. Even though they are the links with Carlo Crivelli are not at all evident, the research on the artist is completely silent regarding it to the existence of the sheet, and the same specialist studies on the specimen have only addressed it the style marginally, however generically tracing it back to the Ferrara area. The present contribution instead intends to delve deeper into the question thanks to the discovery of another drop cap, also clearly produced starting from some paintings made by the Venetian master. For this reason, the paper focuses first of all on the formal analysis of the two works and on their stylistic comparison, wanting to demonstrate how they came from the same volume. The research continues with a reflection which extends to other possible areas of influence of the author of the works presented, such as the Lombard and Leonardesque which recalls the face of the Virgin with the initial S
Buenos Aires: Ediciones Corregidor, 2023. 410 pages.
In this review, I offer a critical summary of Adriana López-Labourdette's recent monograph El retorno del monstruo. As emerges from a first reading of the title, the volume deals with the appearance of monstrous figurations in the recent Latin American literary field. In addition to illustrating the main aspects addressed in the book, this review aims to demonstrate the relevance of such a study in the field of monster studies, both in the Latin American field and in literature in general. In particular, in addition to offering a complex theoretical apparatus and an exhaustive survey of the literature related to the theme of the monster, the author also provides numerous new insights through which to read and interpret the monstrous figurations that haunt contemporary literature
Anthropocenic futures and precarious bodies. A reading of "Mugre rosa" (2020) by Fernanda Trías
"Mugre rosa" (2020), by Uruguayan author Fernanda Trías, depicts a near-future Montevideo, where the population is confronted with climatic disaster and the propagation of a devastating disease. In this article, I explore the representation of bodily precarity in the context of environmental catastrophe, arguing that this vulnerability constitutes a point of resistance from which to rethink human identity. On the one hand, exposure to an anthropogenic environment is interpreted as instrumental to late capitalist biopolitics. This is revealed through the cartographies of precarity emerging from the novel, which reflect not only the chasm between Global North and Global South but also local inequalities. On the other hand, this corporeal exposure constitutes a challenge to traditional representations of the human. Through the analysis of the depiction of illness, I discuss how this deconstruction of the body favours the emergence of a new, interconnected identity. Ultimately, I suggest that a destabilising age such as the Anthropocene constitutes not only a profound moment of crisis but also a privileged space to rethink human subjectivity and its modes of representation."Mugre rosa" (2020), de la autora uruguaya Fernanda Trías, describe un Montevideo en un futuro cercano, en el que la población se enfrenta al desastre climático y a la propagación de una enfermedad devastadora.
The contribution of cutaneous thermal signals to bodily self-awareness
Abstract Thermosensory signals may contribute to the sense of body ownership, but their role remains highly debated. We test this assumption within the framework of pathological body ownership, hypothesising that skin temperature and thermoception differ between right-hemisphere stroke patients with and without Disturbed Sensation of Ownership (DSO) for the contralesional plegic upper limb. Patients with DSO exhibit lower basal hand temperatures bilaterally and impaired perception of cold and warm stimuli. Lesion mapping reveals associations in the right Rolandic Operculum and Insula, with these regions linked to lower skin temperature located posterior to those associated with thermoception deficits. Disconnections in bilateral parietal regions are associated with lower hand temperature, while disconnections in a right-lateralized thalamus-parietal hub correlate with thermoception deficits. We discuss the theoretical implications of these findings in the context of the ongoing debate on the role of homeostatic signals in shaping a coherent sense of body ownership

Strain energy density approach as fatigue assessment of Ti6Al4V specimens machined by WEDM single step technology
The present paper summarizes the results from force-controlled fatigue tests performed on Ti6Al4V specimens machined by wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) single step technology. For this aim, blunt V-notched specimens with various notch root radii and un-notched “dog bone” specimens are considered. The fatigue behaviour of this alloy machined by WEDM single step technology is an extremely important issue but, despite this, the literature on this topic is very poor and the effect of geometrical discontinuities on the fatigue life of has still to be investigated. Fatigue data, generated by testing a total number of 62 specimen, are re-analysed by means of the Strain Energy Density (SED) method, investigating the possibility to use this method following a numerical approach. Estimation of the critical radius is performed on the basis of finite element analysis to overcome the lack of knowledge of the material properties often related to the machining process. Thanks to the SED method, it is possible to summarize in a single scatter-band all the collected fatigue data, independently of the specimen geometry. The proposed numerical approach is capable to reduce the scatter index compared to the actual procedure with modest extra effort, also solving the issue related to the geometry selection for the critical radius identification. The method is successfully validated by assessing the fatigue life of specimens with two notch geometries not considered during the critical radius identification. © 2022 The Author(s
