Probabilistic Weibull reliability of a shaft design subjected to bending and torsion stress
The circular shaft serves as the axis of rotation for the components. It is subjected to flexion and tearing, indicating that fatigue is the mode of failure. The range of stresses resulting from the mean and alternating loads determines the occurrence of fatigue failure. The deterministic fatigue analysis, calculated using the stress average obtained from SN curves, can only represent the mean life. This is because the stress range is not a single number, and therefore it cannot provide the reliability level for the stress. The study employs the Weibull distribution to estimate loads and parameters for a probabilistic shaft design under bending and torsion. The minimum strength is assessed using corresponding stress analysis to determine the reliability index for the designed shaft
Stress-strength Weibull analysis with different shape parameter B and probabilistic safety factor
Since products are subjected to a random variable stress-strength, their reliability must be determined using the stress-strength analysis. Unfortunately, when both, stress and strength, follow a Weibull distribution with different shape parameters, the reliability stress-strength has not a close solution. Therefore, in this paper, the formulation to perform the analysis stress-strength Weibull with different shape parameters is derived. Furthermore, the formulation to determine the safety factor that corresponds to the designed reliability is also given. 6 Sigma and DMAIC Method: Basic Tool Teaching and Application for Beginning Practitioners in Automotive Assembly
The 6 Sigma methodology is widely used in different types of industries, from manufacturing type industries to service industries. The objective of the methodology is based on reducing variability in the production system, that is, achieving that the standard deviation is as many times as possible within the mean of the process being measured. The Six Sigma methodology is based on the DMAIC process which is to define, measure, analyze, implement, and control, with these stages, it is possible to identify quality critics and understand their root cause, therefore, if it is known Why a problem occurs, it can be fixed. With DMAIC methodology, the reduction of the variation that arises from the types of problems that were mentioned within the 6 Sigma methodology is sought. In the other hand, 6 sigma and DMAIC process possess more that 40 quality tools to improve the critical of quality and in these manners increase the company efficiency. In such a way, the objective of this research is the presentation of the most effective tools and simply to apply in companies of the methodology, also how this quality tools can be applied in any type of problem to increase efficiency and productivity, this with the necessity of companies’ quality improvement and beginners’ practitioners can used as a simple way of the methodology implementation
Stress-Based Weibull Method to Select a Ball Bearing and Determine Its Actual Reliability
Since the designed bearing’s reliability of 90% was determined in a lab environment, it does
not represent the actual used environment. In this paper, a new methodology to determine the actual
reliability that corresponds to the use conditions is o ered. This new method is based on the standard
method used to select the ball bearing. The proposed method is based on the two parameters of
Weibull distribution, where the shape ( ) and scale ( ) parameters are both determined from the
Hertz contact stresses values, which are generated under the surface of the motionless outer race,
and by the forces transmitted between the ball and the outer race. Therefore, the derived reliability is
di erent from the 90% index o ered by manufacturers

In the digitalization era, organizations are investing in tools that allow their processes, human resources, machines, supply chains, and products, to be integrated into a global network. This helps the company’s improvement and development to increase in a more efficient way. The industry 4.0 (also known as “the fourth industrial revolution”) considers the Internet of Things (IT) and how the improvement in technology allows devices or products interconnect to obtain data, analyze and intercommunicate the data to other devices in real-time. Industry 4.0 is based on mechanization, electricity and the internet. Therefore, the fourth industrial revolution, via the IT becoming integrated with the manufacturing environment. Because Industry 4.0 considers
the connection of the physical world and virtual world by an internet protocol, the physical-virtual systems will take shape of smarts facilities, smart storage, smart factories, and smart supply chains. This lets us bring improvements in manufacturing through the whole value chain. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Metanalysis of the development of artificial intelligence and the internet of things: the transformation of work and life
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are changing the way we live and work by enabling seamless technology integration in our daily lives. This study explores the literature on the integration of AI and IoT to create intelligent systems that can autonomously make decisions and perform tasks based on real-time data from connected devices. This paper presents a meta-analysis of the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in decision-making processes, as well as in Industry 4.0 and 5.0. The study analyzed relevant records from the Web of Science database, evaluating research output, authorship, collaboration, institutional and geographical distribution, and impact. The results indicate that China has the highest number of total publications and total citations, followed by the USA and India. The study offers valuable insights into the scientific and technological advancements of various regions, their level of international collaboration, and their impact on the field of AI-IoT. The trend of publications indicates that Computer Science, Engineering, and Telecommunications are prominent and steadily growing fields. However, there has been a recent emergence and increase in Chemistry, Instruments & Instrumentation, and Material Science, which are contributing to the development of AI-IoT
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
