Synthesis of freestanding cupric oxide nanotubes with close ends from copper nanowires by the Kirkendall effect
No full textVertically grown cupric oxide semiconductors have a number of applications such as chemical sensors, nanogas sensors, and catalysts. Typically, a template based synthesis technique is used followed by an additional wet etching process for the synthesis of vertically oriented cupric oxide nanotubes. However, such a synthesis technique has some inherent disadvantages, notably, the obvious complexities involved in the process and the possibility of contamination and deformation of the structure. Here, the authors report the growth of freestanding copper nanostructures via metal organic chemical vapor deposition, followed by thermal oxidation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of a successful synthesis of vertically aligned cupric oxide nanotubes with closed ends from copper nanowires. The synthesis was performed at 300 degrees C in air via the Kirkendall effect without the use of any template. Subsequently, the 5 mu m long copper nanowires having diameters of 70 nm were thermally oxidized to yield cupric oxide nanotubes with closed ends. The nanotubes were 5 mu m in length, and had wall thicknesses and diameters of 18 nm and 70-100nm, respectively. Transmission electron microscopy images clearly show that the nanotubes are comprised of crystalline cupric oxide. Furthermore, I-V characteristics of the nanotubes exhibit p-type semiconducting behavior. Our work suggests that the cupric oxide nanotubes may find applications in one-dimensional devices such as in the field of optics, as nanobiosensors and gas sensors. (C) 2016 American Vacuum Society.

No full textThis paper presents a list of the fishes of the middle and lower part of the Manso River basin, in the department of Caldas, Colombia. It consolidates the results of 33 sampling events at 8 stations distributed in the middle and lower Manso river zone and a tributary stream, in addition to previously available information. A total of 68 species of fish have been recorded for the Manso River. In the period 2012-2014, 55 species were registered, of which 15 are included in the Red Book of Freshwater Fish of Colombia, 12 are species of importance for human consumption and the others that represent biological and ecological interest.Se presenta un listado de los peces de la cuenca media y baja del río Manso (Caldas, Colombia), el cual consolida los resultados de 33 campañas de muestreo que se realizaron en ocho estaciones distribuidas en la zona media y baja del río y una quebrada tributaria, además de la información previamente existente. En total se han registrado para el río Manso 68 especies de peces. En el periodo 2012-2014 se registraron 55 especies, de las cuales 15 están incluidas en el Libro Rojo de Peces de Agua Dulce de Colombia, 12 son especies de importancia para consumo humano y las demás representan interés biológico y ecológico

Speculative Equilibrium with Differences in Higher-Order Beliefs
No full text Modest differences in higher-order beliefs may have large price effects. We generalize a standard rational expectations equilibrium model with different information by allowing differences in higher-order beliefs. Investors have possibly different dogmatic beliefs about the mean, different dogmatic beliefs about other investors’ beliefs, and so on for higher and higher orders of beliefs. Even when every investor’s first-order expectations are unbiased, overvaluation results when investors have inconsistent higher-order beliefs that their own expectations are more optimistic than average. This lack of common knowledge destabilizes prices in an unbounded manner as market liquidity disappears. This paper was accepted by Gustavo Manso, finance. </jats:p

No full textEl presente ensayo está enfocado a comentar algunos aspectos de la práctica humanística-educativa de algunos de los grandes pensadores y maestros de la pedagogía latinoamericana como los son Paulo Freire, José Martí, Juana Manso y Simón Rodríguez. El pensamiento pedagógico de estos grandes ideólogos y maestros de América Latina, han sido producto de las condiciones histórico-sociales que han vivido nuestros pueblos y su aporte ha despertado el amor de dichos pueblos hermanos quienes hacen honor a su pensamiento.
Los académicos de América Latina, hoy y siempre, estamos llamados a rendir homenaje a estos hombres y mujeres que se han distinguido por su ejemplaridad moral, por sus mensajes humanitarios, solidarios y libertadores y por su aporte a la Educación.
Los aportes que cada uno de ellos han ofrecido a la educación son muy importantes y han incidido en muchos países, no solo de América Latina, sino de todo el mundo; sin embargo, en este ensayo solamente me referiré a Paulo Freire, Juana Manso, Simón Rodríguez y José Martí, de cuyos planteamientos pedagógicos se han nutrido muchos pueblos que viven problemas similares a los que ellos aluden
A Study on the mathematics textbooks in the era of the Great Han Empire
No full text이 글은 갑오경장(1894)과 경술 국치(1910) 사이에 간행된 산학(수학) 교재류의 목록을 확인하고, 각 텍스트의 출판과 관련된 사항, 소장처, 이본 등의 서지적 정보와 함께 이 시기 산학 교재류의 국어사 자료로서의 의의를 언어 사용 상의 측면에 초점을 두어 정리하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이는 현대 한국어 태동기의 분과 학문의 도입 양상에 대한 연구의 일환인 한편, 학술 용어의 번역과 정착을 중심으로 이 시기의 한국어의 어휘 확장 양상을 확인하는 데에 필요한 기초 자료를 정리하는 작업의 한 부분이다. 본 연구에 앞선 산학(수학) 교재류에 대한 연구로는 산학 교재류의 서지 사항에 대해 기술한 강윤호(1973:187-199), 김봉희(1992:247-253), 한길준(2009), 오채환 외(2010) 등이 있고, 한국 수학사를 기술하면서 교재류를 함께 다룬 것으로 김용운·김용국(1982)와 이상구(2013)이 있다.This paper aims to make a whole list of the mathematics textbooks in the era of the Great Han Empire and summerize bibliographical data and linguistic characteristics in view of Korean history. In chapter 1, the author reviewed former studies which deals with the mathematics textbooks in the era of the Great Han Empire. In chapter 2, the author summerized bibliographical data of 45 volumes of 32 kinds textbooks. In chapter 3, the author described linguistic characteristics of the textbooks, especially focusing on writing systems, the use of Arabic numerals, horizontal writing, and presence of index or glossary
