Self-made Sorcerer: the Modernization of Merlyn in Jack Whyte\u27s the Camuhod Chronicles
Get PDFWhen Geoffrey of Monmouth put his pen to paper to record the King Arthur legend as a part of his The History of the of Kings of Britain, he brought to life for the first time since the old Welsh Legends the character of Merlin. But Merlin\u27s development did not stop there. In version after version of the Arthurian legend he continued to appear, taking on many roles, from tutor to madman, but always maintaining an essential Merlin character of magic, wisdom, and power. One modern author who uses Merlin as a significant character in his re telling of the Arthurian story is Jack Whyte in his The Camulod Chronicles. It is no surprise that Whyte\u27s Merlyn differs from the Merlin of medieval texts, because Whyte intends to suggest to his audience the possibility of truth in his Arthurian tale, which means not placing as much weight on Merlyn as magical since that is not accepted as feasible today as it was by medieval audiences

No full textAl-Iklas Mosque is one of the public mosques in Fakfak City which is still active and has a fairly large number of worshipers, namely 300 people. However, currently the mosque has supporting facilities for building facilities, namely toilets and ablution places whose floors and walls have not been tiled and painted. As well as the damage to water channels and faucets where wudu. Therefore, the PKM team provided solutions to carry out work on installing ceramic floors, repairing drains and painting the walls of the WC and the ablution area of ??the Al-Iklas Thumburuni Fakfak Mosque. The method used is the first method, the ceramic installation service method is by immersing ceramics, installing ceramics by applying cement to the floor to which ceramics will be affixed and applying ceramic grout. The second method, the method of painting the walls, is by cleaning the walls first, mixing the paint with a water base or solvent, and using the zigzag technique in painting. The third method, the method of repairing the water channel where the wudu is located, is by welding the iron pipe which is damaged and leaking. So in this finishing work, collaborating using 2 disciplines from the POLINEF institution, namely civil engineering, namely ceramic installation and painting work, while machine maintenance techniques, namely plumbing repair work.

No full textPertumbuhan kawasan-kawasan terbangun di Kota Surabaya memberikan potensi yang besar bagi pengemudi taksi untuk mengangkut lebih banyak penumpang dari kawasan satu ke kawasan lain. Namun saat ini pengemudi taksi belum optimal dalam menggunakan waktu mereka bekerja mengangkut penumpang, hal ini dikarenakan mereka belum mengetahui dengan tepat, pada jam-jam yang berpotensi untuk bekerja mengangkut penumpang. Dan pengemudi belum bisa memperkirakan jumlah antaran penumpang dalam sehari sehingga belum bisa mempergunakan peluang mendapatkan penumpang dengan optimal. Oleh karena itu dalam penelitian ini melakukan metode analisis distribusi data dengan penyebaran kuesioner dan diolah dalam bentuk Tabel dan Grafik. Hasil penelitian ini adalah penumpang taksi lebih banyak menggunaan taksi pada jam 12:00-15:00 WIB sebesar 22%, pada jam 09:00-12:00 WIB sebesar 21% dan pada jam 15:00-18:00 WIB sebesar 15%. Jumlah perjalanan mengangkut penumpang pada jarak 3,1-6 km sebesar 27%, pada jarak 6,1-9 km sebesar 21% dan pada jarak 0-3 km sebesar 20%. Data karakteristik panjang perjalanan dan variasi volume perjalanan taksi berbasis jam bertujuan untuk mengetahui jumlah antaran penumpang dalam sehari dan jam bekerja pengemudi taksi yang efektif

No full textAuthor Institution: Department of Chemistry, U. of Arizona; Department of Physics, U. of Georgia; Department of Chemistry, Davidson CollegeSingle vibrational levels (SVLs) in the state of propynal vapor have been populated by tuned, pulsed laser excitation in room temperature ``bulb” experiment. Time-resolved fluorescence spectra for the origin level, five SVLs corresponding to a single quantum of one mode, and two combination SVLs have been recorded and assigned. Mode 4 has the greatest spectral activity and displays an anharmonicity of in the ground state. Spectral evidence supports the activity of all modes except mode 1. After mode 4, the most prominent vibrational modes in the origin spectrum are 9 and 12, which contrasts with the prominence of modes 5, 6 and 10 and relative unimportance of modes 9 and 12 in the absorption spectrum. As expected, it is found that the same transitions which occur in the origin spectrum are observed in all other spectra. The spectral structure in all spectra consists of (1) fundamentals or overtones of single modes, (2) fundamentals or overtones of single modes in combination with a progression member, or (3) fundamentals or overtones of two modes in combination with a progression member
