The purpose of the research was to reconstruct the artistic path of the Sicilian sculptor Nino Franchina considering his work from the beginning of his career during the Thirties until 1987 when he died.
The author of the text have tried to consider the most relevant events that occurred in the sculptor’s life, the main artworks he have realized and, in the meantime, to show which artists have inspired his work.
The fundamental instrument, used by Raimondo, to achieve the aim of the research is the consultation of the materials preserved in Nino Franchina Archive in Rome. Thanks to the numerous documents, drawings, sculptures and photos that the writer has found inside the archive it was possible to evaluate in an appropriate manner the artist’s figure and to unearth it from the oblivion of the past twenty years

No full textLa studiosa offre in questo saggio una prima sintesi di un lungo lavoro da lei condotto sul quotidiano milanese “L'Ambrosiano” pubblicato tra 1922 e 1944 e uscito, in tre edizioni giornaliere, come giornale dedicato a Milano, con lo scopo di forme la prima città del/Europa centrale per livello culturale. Nella sua terza pagina, gli autori prestano attenzione a tutti i fenomeni artistici nazionali. Vi scrivono, tra altri, Carrà, Bardi, Severini, Savinio, Soffici, Bucci, Pagano, Pannaggi, Terragni, Vittorini, Gadda, Gialli, Reggiori. Rivolto ad un pubblico prevalentemente borghese, il quotidiano milanese si distingue per l'accentuata attenzione alla fotografia come strumento di informazione. La studiosa si sofferma sulle rubriche di Carrà, di Bucci, di Giolli, di Bardi e su quelle di urbanistica, in parte anonime. Conclude lo studio un'Appendice con l'elenco di articoli delle aree tematiche ritenute più significative e ricche: Biennale di Venezia, Biennale d'Arte decorativa di Monza, Triennale di Milano, Quadriennale Nazionale d'Arte di Roma. Al prossimo numero della rivista si rimanda la divulgazione di ulteriori liste di articoli.The author offers a first synthesis of a study she carried out on the Milan newspaper "L'Ambrosiano", published between 1922 and 1944. This journal was entirely dedicated to Milan and tried to show the city as a modern metropolis perfectly inserted in the cutural life of central Europe. In "L'Ambrosiano"'s cultural pages the authors of the articles pay attention to all the national art events. Carrà, Bardi Severini, Soffici, Bucci, Pagano, Pannaggi, Terragni, Vittorini, Gadda, Giolli, Reggiori are among the authors that have published their writings on the newspaper. Addressed especially to the middle-class, the journal stands out for the marked attention to photography as an information instrument. The author focuses on the columns written by Carrà, Bucci, Giolli and Bardi and on the urbanistic columns, in part anonymous. The paper ends with a list of articles on specific themes considered interesting and important: Biennale Internazionale d'Arte of Venice, Biennale Internazionale di Arti Decorative of Monza, Triennale of Milan, Quadriennale Nazionale d'Arte of Rome

No full textThis photograph shows Kenneth B. Clark, an honorary degree recipient at the 1989 Springfield College Commencement Ceremony. He is pictured sitting in a chair with his elbow on the arm of the chair and his chin resting on his hand. The photo is taken by famed photographer, Raimondo Borea. He is wearing a suit. The college gave him the honorary degree because he demonstrated a lifetime commitment to the Humanics philosophy followed by Springfield College.Kenneth B. Clark earned his Ph.D. in social psychology from Columbia University and went on to become a Distinguished Professor of Psychology Emeritus of the City College of the City University of New York. He also is the author of several books and articles, including "Prejudice and Your Child," "Pathos of Power," and "Dark Ghetto." He qualified to present his research on the effects of segregation on children to the United States Supreme Court during the 1954 decision of Brown vs. Board of Education. He and his wife were also co-founders of the Northside Center for Child Development and he also is noted for his work with Harlem Youth Opportunities Unlimited. His previous awards include: 1961 recipient of the Springain Medal, 1985 recipient of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Four Freedom Award, and 1986 recipient of the Medal of Liberty Award. He served for twenty years as a member of the Board of Regents of the State of New York, and is President of Kenneth B. Clark & Associates, Inc., a firm that provides consultation to educational institutions, corporations and government agencies.Copyright is not owned by Springfield College.
