Main entrance, Alaska-Yukon Pacific Exposition, Seattle, Washington, 1909
S.E. Meldrum was one of the many amateur photographers allowed to photograph the grounds, buildings and exhibits of the exposition. By purchasing a day pass, an amateur photographer with a camera smaller then 6" x 8" was allowed to take unlimited pictures inside the exposition.

Today's Main City Squares: In North-Western Europe
The social-spatial and spatial-functional qualities of main squares in North-western Europe are being defined by a set of criteria. A design proposal shows how we can not only analyse, but also improve the situation with use of these criteria.UrbanismArchitectur
Kloski Opera House building on the corner of Main and Caddo, S.E.
Kloski Opera House building on the corner of Main and Caddo, S.E. This building also housed the T.Y. Morgan grocery store and the Palace Drug, operated by M.E. Blake. A saddled horse is tied up at the front of the building and several men stand on the sidewalk. The street is unpaved alongside this two story stone structure
The contribution of symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), health anxiety and intolerance of uncertainty to distress in Ménière's disease
This study assessed whether symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), health anxiety, and intolerance of uncertainty were associated with distress in members of the Ménière's Society (n = 800), and compared the extent of anxiety, depression, intolerance of uncertainty and health anxiety with a healthy control group (n = 484). PTSD symptoms were associated with anxiety, depression, and handicap. Health anxiety was associated with anxiety and depression. Intolerance of uncertainty was directly associated with anxiety; its association with depression and handicap was mediated by PTSD symptoms. The Ménière's group reported more anxiety, depression, and health anxiety than the control group, but were not more intolerant of uncertainty. More than half of the Ménière's group reported experiencing partial or full PTSD symptoms. As PTSD, health anxiety and intolerance of uncertainty are modifiable with psychological treatment, we advise that clinicians should screen patients with Ménière's disease who are particularly distressed

A comparative case study of coordination mechanisms in Design and Build BIM-based projects in the Netherlands
BIM implementation can affect the project coordination mechanisms in unexpected ways, even in widely-applied project procurement structures. Apart from the chosen procurement approach, the BIM technology and the distribution of roles in the project team influence and shape the project coordination. This paper aims to explore the emerging coordination structures and processes from BIM implementation in design-build procurement. An exploratory comparative case study has been undertaken. The findings included two main coordination mechanisms: a centralized and decentralized structure and a hierarchical ver-sus participative decision-making processes. These two patterns subsequently open a debate about the rela-tions between BIM implementation and business models in AEC and particularly the emergence of specialized all-around BIM firms versus BIM-knowledgeable engineering firms.Accepted Author ManuscriptDesign & Construction Managemen
Communication Plan for C-firmy Europe S.E
Cílem práce je sestavit komunikační plán pro společnost C-firmy Europe S.E. Hlavní náplní této firmy je poskytování služeb spojených se založením a prodejem obchodních společností. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části. V první části jsou popsány teoretické informace z oblasti marketingové komunikaci, komunikačního mixu a popsány hlavní části komunikačního mixu - reklama, přímý marketing, podpora prodeje, public relations a osobní prodej. V druhé části je charakterizována firma, její služby a sestaven komunikační plán.The aim of this work is to draw up a communication plan for company C-firmy Europe S.E. The main aim of the company is providing services connected with establishment and sale of companies. The work is divided into to parts. The first part describe theoretical information about marketing communication, communication mix and described the main parts of the communication mix - advertising, direct marketing, sales promotion, public relations, personal selling. The second part describes company, its services and created a communication plan.Vyšší odborná škola ekonomick
Information on the future and values 1977-1978
Testing hypotheses about relations between values and attitudes. In a field experiment people were informed on scenario's describing different futures in Dutch society. In the first scenario the value equality ( of housing and income ) was to be realized, in the second environmental protection. The assumption that value expression is an important motivation that predicts the reaction of dutch citizens was tested. A political value list was constructed for this purpose. Four groups ( 2 control and 2 experimental groups ) were given information on the consequences of realizing different scenario's and their reactions ( changes in attitudes towards those scenario's ) assessed. The main conclusion is that the expression of values is a weak motive for behaviour. The implications for communication campaigns are discussed. Background variables: basic characteristics/ residence/ household characteristics/ politics/ readership, mass media, and 'cultural' exposure/ organizational membershi
The use of one- and two-dimensional hydraulic modelling to reconstruct a glacial outburst flood in a steep Alpine valley
The hydrologic characteristics of the 1943 outburst flood from the Glacier du Mont Miné, Switzerland, are herein reconstructed using field evidence (palaeostage indicators) in conjunction with shallow water modelling techniques. These techniques rely on accurately characterising the hydraulic roughness of the channel, the water height established as boundary conditions, and the main flow path during the former flood, but the selection of appropriate parameter values can be problematic and hence there is uncertainty in the estimated discharge. In this study, minimal flow discharge estimates derived from one-dimensional modelling were found to vary between 429 and 557 m3 s?1 as the hydraulic roughness (ks) and water height at the inlet were varied over a realistic range of values (0.8–1.4 m and 3.31–6 m, respectively), whereas flow rates derived via two-dimensional modelling were confined in a narrower, lower, range of 358–454 m3 s?1. This degree of sensitivity to bed roughness ks, boundary conditions and the spatial dimensions of the modelling approach is, for the one-dimensional modelling, higher than reported in previous studies, but the precision of flow discharge values reconstructed using the two-dimensional modelling approach appears to be acceptable, even for floods in the very steep valley (0.1 m/m) that is subject of this study
