The concept of Manafi’ ( benefits ) has long been a major component of peoples’ life so that the Shari’a has accounted for it thoroughly from an Islamic point of view. This research therefore  profoundly illuminates this concept  in Islam in terms of providing proofs and answers that pertain to current polemic issues

Soil plasticity determination using manafi method and apparatus

    No full text
Determination of soil plasticity is of great importance in geotechnical engineering projects. Consistency of soil can be expressed in terms of Atterberg limits of soils. Liquid limit and plastic limit tests are among the two most regular tests for determination of index properties of fine grain soils. Soil classification of fine grain soils is based on results of Atterberg limit tests. In addition, many engineering properties of soils can be correlated to the results of soil plasticity determination tests. Current standard methods for determination of soil plasticity have several issues that make their results unreliable in many cases. In this research, it is tried to address problems of conventional methods regarding soil plasticity determination, design a new apparatus for determination of liquid limit and plastic limit of soils, and standardise a new test method for determination of soil plasticity with more accuracy and reliability in comparison to conventional methods. Soil consistency is a qualitative phenomenon. In this regard, author?s suggestion for solving the problems related to the determination of soil plasticity is utilisation of qualitative research approach. Accordingly, the author has proposed a new test method and designed a new apparatus (Manafi Apparatus) for determination of soil consistency based on the nature of soil deformation utilising qualitative research approach, referred to as Manafi Method. In this technique, it is possible to determine the workability of soil at Atterberg limits and specify the consistency state of the soil. Ten different soils were selected carefully to cover a wide range of soils plasticity with plastic limits range from 18.64% to 30.78%, and the liquid limits range from 30.25% to 61.77%. The most differences between the results obtained by proposed method and standard methods were 2.38% and 1.94% of water content for liquid and plastic limits correspondingly. The experimental results obtained by designed apparatus confirmed the proposed method and provided more consistent results in soil plasticity determination in comparison to current standard methods (fall cone and thread rolling methods)

ABSTRACT A study was conducted to investigate the effect of feeding diets containing different levels of aflatoxin B 1 (AF) viz., 0, 300, 400 and 500ppb on the performance of broiler breeders. The breeder hens aged 28 weeks were fed with four treatment diets: Control (0ppm), (300 ppb), (400 ppb) and (500 ppb) for three periods, each with a duration of three weeks from 28 to 36 weeks of age. Feeding of AFB 1 at 300 and 400ppb did not reveal any significant changes in the performance. However, Inclusion of 500ppb AF in the diet significantly (P≤0.05) reduced feed consumption, feed efficiency, egg production, fertility and hatchability. The results indicated no significant (P≥0.05) effect of AF on body weight of breeders

Applying the new experimental midpoint concept on strain energy density for fracture assessment of composite materials

    No full text
A mixed-mode I/II fracture criterion for predicting the fracture response of composite materials is proposed. This criterion is derived based on a comprehensive study and the consideration of the physics of fracture onset. The fracture phenomenon that causes the various damage mechanisms at the vicinity of the crack tip is examined. It is elucidated that the stress distribution at the crack tip ought to be defined using the reinforcement isotropic solid (RIS) stress state. This new criterion, which is called Improved Strain Energy Density with Mid-point (ISEDM), includes the effect of the fracture process zone (FPZ) and T-stress, which remarkably affect the mixed-mode fracture process, particularly, when mode II is dominant. Substituting the strain energy density in a pure mode I with the strain energy density in the midpoint of mixed-mode I/II is the creative idea employed in proposing this criterion. Because in pure mode I the effects of FPZ are minimal, change of fitting point on fracture limit curve (FLC) from KIc to midpoint critical stress intensity factors (CSIF's) makes it possible to consider the effects of FPZ more accurately. In the ISEDM criterion, fracture behavior depends on mechanical properties and CSIF's of the midpoint. Crack initiation angle is considered along minimum strain energy density and this angle is derived in the midpoint of mixed-mode I/II. RIS theory is used as an applicable theory for modeling orthotropic materials in this paper and causes valid and reliable fracture behavior to be extracted. In addition, changing fracture point from pure mode I to the mid-point of experimental data causes the effects of FPZ to be considered without estimating the toughening mechanisms in this zone, and the fracture behavior is extracted with higher accuracy. FLC's in comparison with available experimental data prove that the ISEDM criterion anticipates the fracture behavior of orthotropic materials well. Finding KIIc based on the analytical method is a valuable achievement. In this article, KIIc can be predicted with appropriate accuracy, only by CSIF's of mid-point and using ISEDM criterion.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Structural Integrity & Composite

In the paper we will generalize the Slutsky Equation in risk and uncertainty situations using the compensated and uncompensated demand and some local measures of risk aversion. We will obtain a nonlinear optimization problem of maximizing the expected utility; this problem will be solved using the Kuhn-Tucker method. We use the results to analyze the income and substitution effects of price changes on demand in risk and uncertainty conditions.Compensated demand, risk aversion, Slutsky Equation, uncertainty, uncompensated demand

ABSTRACT Financing and farmer knowledge in management ability have been major concerns of dairy development efforts. Therefore, this study conducted with the objectives of identifying the impact of agricultural credit, subsidy and extension on dairy sector sustainability in Iran. The study was carried out in Northern region in Iran. Purposive sampling approach was adopted to collect the data. The data was collected from 119 farmers through pre-tested structured questionnaire. Twenty one percent of respondents had taken credit and 72 % of farmers had received subsidies to develop their dairy production capacity. In this study, around 97 % of farmers who had linked with extension facility and 45 % of them had participated for several trainings which were conducted by different institutions. Further, positive relationship also existed between productivity of the dairy herd and farmers' education, milk yield, gross income and number of milking cows. It was observed that milk yield had correlation with received credit amount and value of received subsidy by farmers. The results clearly illustrated credit and subsidy in dairy sector could considerably facilitate to alleviate poverty in rural areas because credit not only helps to increase the income from the each milking animal but also assists to expand sustainability of livestock sector
