Gestion adaptative des zones humides : une approche de réduction de la vulnérabilité des populations riveraines face aux effets des changements climatiques : exemple du lac Wégnia dans la région de Koulikoro, au Mali
No full textDans un contexte d'incertitude écologique en lien avec la variabilité et les changements climatiques, comment assurer la durabilité des ressources de la zone humide du lac Wégnia dans la région de Koulikoro au Mali, tout en permettant aux communautés riveraines d'en tirer profit ? Telle est la question centrale autour de laquelle s'articule la présente thèse. Pour l'aborder, l'approche de la « gestion adaptative », s'appuyant sur la participation effective des acteurs locaux et la prise en compte de leur savoir écologique traditionnel dans le processus de gestion de ce lac, a été privilégiée. L'approche repose également sur une méthodologie utilisant divers outils complémentaires pour collecter, traiter, et analyser les données. Les enquêtes de terrain et l'analyse des images satellites ont montré la vulnérabilité des ressources naturelles de la zone d'études (en particulier le lac Wégnia) face aux effets des changements climatiques et des activités humaines. Or, les communautés locales concernées tirent directement leur subsistance de ces ressources naturelles. De ce fait, la vulnérabilité des ressources naturelles entraine conséquemment celle des moyens de subsistance de ces communautés. Afin de réduire la vulnérabilité des dites communautés, certaines actions ont été entreprises: l'analyse de la situation du bassin du lac Wégnia ; l'identification des principales menaces et des stratégies locales d'adaptation ; l'élaboration d'un plan d'action amélioré et d'un plan de surveillance ainsi que leur mise en œuvre. Le plan d'action renfermait des activités comme le reboisement autour des lacs Wégnia et Kononi, la construction des cordons pierreux perpendiculairement aux ravins qui débouchent sur le lac Wégnia, la pisciculture en étang, et la mise en place d'un comité de suivi pour la surveillance des réalisations. Enfin, les activités mises en œuvre ont été évaluées après une période d'observation (dont la durée varie en fonction de l'activité) pour tirer des enseignements sur la base des résultats obtenus. De ces enseignements, des recommandations ont été formulées dans la perspective de la conception d'un potentiel futur plan d'action.In a context of ecological uncertainty linked to climate variability and change, how can the sustainability of the resources of the wetland of Lake Wégnia in the Koulikoro region in Mali be ensured, while allowing neighboring communities to benefit from them? This is the central question around which this thesis revolves. To approach it, the "adaptive management" approach, relying on the effective participation of local actors and the taking into account of their traditional ecological knowledge in the management process of this lake, was favored. The approach is also based on a methodology using various complementary tools to collect, process, and analyze data. Field surveys and analysis of satellite images have shown the vulnerability of natural resources in the study area (particularly Lake Wégnia) to the combined effects of climate change and human activities. However, local communities derive their livelihood directly from these natural resources. As a result, the vulnerability of natural resources consequently leads to the vulnerability of the livelihoods of these communities. In order to reduce the vulnerability of the communities concerned, certain actions were undertaken: the analysis of the situation of the Lake Wégnia basin; identification of the main threats and local adaptation strategies; the development of an improved action plan and a monitoring plan and their implementation. The action plan included activities such as reforestation around lakes Wégnia and Kononi, the construction of stone bunds perpendicular to the ravines that lead to these lakes, fish farming in ponds, and the establishment of a monitoring committee for the monitoring of achievements. Finally, the activities implemented were evaluated after an observation period (the duration of which varied depending on the activity) to draw lessons on the basis of the results obtained. From these lessons, recommendations were made with a view to designing a potential future action plan
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
