Bilateral and unilateral arm training improve motor function through differing neuroplastic mechanisms: a single-blinded randomized controlled trial
No full textBACKGROUND AND PURPOSE:
This randomized controlled trial tests the efficacy of bilateral arm training with rhythmic auditory cueing (BATRAC) versus dose-matched therapeutic exercises (DMTEs) on upper-extremity (UE) function in stroke survivors and uses functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to examine effects on cortical reorganization.
METHODS:
A total of 111 adults with chronic UE paresis were randomized to 6 weeks (3×/week) of BATRAC or DMTE. Primary end points of UE assessments of Fugl-Meyer UE Test (FM) and modified Wolf Motor Function Test Time (WT) were performed 6 weeks prior to and at baseline, after training, and 4 months later. Pretraining and posttraining, fMRI for UE movement was evaluated in 17 BATRAC and 21 DMTE participants.
RESULTS:
The improvements in UE function (BATRAC: FM Δ = 1.1 + 0.5, P = .03; WT Δ = -2.6 + 0.8, P < .00; DMTE: FM Δ = 1.9 + 0.4, P < .00; WT Δ = -1.6 + 0.7; P = .04) were comparable between groups and retained after 4 months. Satisfaction was higher after BATRAC than DMTE (P = .003). BATRAC led to significantly higher increase in activation in ipsilesional precentral, anterior cingulate and postcentral gyri, and supplementary motor area and contralesional superior frontal gyrus (P < .05). Activation change in the latter was correlated with improvement in the WMFT (P = .01).
CONCLUSIONS:
BATRAC is not superior to DMTE, but both rehabilitation programs durably improve motor function for individuals with chronic UE hemiparesis and with varied deficit severity. Adaptations in brain activation are greater after BATRAC than DMTE, suggesting that given similar benefits to motor function, these therapies operate through different mechanisms

A Longitudinal Study of Cryptographic API: a Decade of Android Malware
No full textCryptography has been extensively used in Android applications to guarantee
secure communications, conceal critical data from reverse engineering, or
ensure mobile users' privacy. Various system-based and third-party libraries
for Android provide cryptographic functionalities, and previous works mainly
explored the misuse of cryptographic API in benign applications. However, the
role of cryptographic API has not yet been explored in Android malware. This
paper performs a comprehensive, longitudinal analysis of cryptographic API in
Android malware. In particular, we analyzed Android applications
(half of them malicious, half benign) released between and ,
gathering more than 1 million cryptographic API expressions. Our results reveal
intriguing trends and insights on how and why cryptography is employed in
Android malware. For instance, we point out the widespread use of weak hash
functions and the late transition from insecure DES to AES. Additionally, we
show that cryptography-related characteristics can help to improve the

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

No full textThe main goal of this thesis is objective evaluation of project potencial - service ParadiseJobs, which offer expert internships in exotic destinations. The project is introduced using Lean canvas model, which will help to gain structured view on the project. Risk areas of model are then identified with SWOT analysis combined with review of expert literature. This areas which are expected to bear high risk affect potential of the project. Service design thinkg, customer research, correlation analysis and competitive intelligence tools are used during the analysis and evaluation, so the negative impacts from these areas would be minimalized. Based on the outputs of analysis some of them are evaluated qualitatively with multi-cirteria matrix. According to outputs of the research potential was evaluated to be high. Altough in area of price, the customers are expected to be price sensitive as well as direct competion was revealed, after updates in these areas the service offering of ParadiseJobs is highly competitive and service is expected to be ready for market entrance.Cieľom tejto práce je objektívne zhodnotenie potenciálu začínajúceho projektu ParadiseJobs, ktorý sa zameriava na poskytovanie odborných stáží v zahraničí a určenie rizikových oblastí, ktoré významne ovplyvňujú naplnenie tohoto potenciálu. Projekt je predstavený pomocou šablóny Lean canvas, ktorá štruktúrovane znázorňuje jeho základné oblasti. Na základe prieniku literárnej rešerše a SWOT analýzy, sú identifikované rizikové oblasti, ktoré budú z velkej časti ovlplyvňovat potenciál projektu. V týchto oblastiach sú aplikované nástroje z oblasti dizajnu služieb, práce s konkurenciou, cenových testov a zákazníckeho výskumu, tak aby boli minimalizované ich negatívne dopady. Vyhodnocovanie týchto oblastí prostredníctvom kvalitatívneho zhodnotenia, korelačnej analýzy a multikritériálnych matíc, je odhadnutý dopad danej oblasti na potenciál projektu. Aj napriek tomu, že výstupy z výskumu naznačujú, že existuje cenovo citlivá zákaznícka základňa a taktiež bola odhalená priama konkurencia, po zapracovaní týchto zmien do upraveného business modelu má analyzovaná služba všetky predpoklady pre úspešný vstup na trh.Cílem této práce je objektivní zhodnocení potenciálu začínajícího projektu ParadiseJobs, který se zaměřuje na poskytování odborných stáží v zahraničí a určení rizikových oblastí které významně ovlivňují naplnění tohto potenciálu.
