Detection of Outliers in Wheat Production of Myanmar, Vol.2, No.1 (Mya Thandar, 2010)
Outliers are commonplace in statistical data analysis . Noting that the effects of outliers in a time series could be serious, the presence of the outliers has significant influence on the analysis of the series. Direct use of conventional statistical time series analysis may occasionally ignore the fact that the observed time series no longer covers the time period with the same condition. Consequently , it leads to use of the inadequate model and to the biased estimates of the parameters in time series analysis.. Therefore, the consideration of outliers in a time series is a crucial aspect of time series analysis. This study reviews outliers in a time series, including definitions and types of outliers, ARIMA models for time series with outliers, as well as likelihood ratio test for detection of outliers in a time series. In addition, the detection and identification of outliers in wheat production series of Myanmar is also empirically investigated as an illustration in this study

Business Valuation of First Private Bank in Yangon Stock Exchange ( Mya Thandar Phyu, 2023)
The main objective is to derive the Intrinsic Value of First Private Bank which is
listed on Yangon Stock Market using discounted cash flow method with a financial model,
and compare to the current market price. Finding the intrinsic value of First Private Bank
limited using discounted cash flow Method. We built a financial model to project five years
financial projections using the assumptions mainly based on management’s plan and strategy
which are publicly available on YSX website, management interviews and discussions posted
as disclosures and announcements and using historical trends. We also derived at proper
discount rates by using CAPM method based on most recent risk factors. The results we got
has shown that Intrinsic Value of FPB shares is extremely higher than Current share price.
That meant the Current Share Value is undervalued. To mitigate the impact of potential risks,
calculate the sensitivity and scenario analysis. For sensitivity analysis of FPB share,
considered the impact of WACC and Terminal Growth rate changes. Based on the changes,
the intrinsic value is extremely higher than current share price. For scenario analysis, the
three cases scenario, Good case, Base case and Bad case, intrinsic value of all cases is
significantly higher than current share price. First Private Bank should consider to do
revaluation of its building and property since most of them were recorded at cost price
decades ago. The bank also should work closely with Yangon Stock Exchange to promote the
stock to drive up volume and stimulate the market by drawing investor’s attention to how
much undervalued is the First Private Bank’s shares are. The last suggestion for FPB bank is
to hire some of the local talents and expatriates to fill the need for human resources and
strategic moves for its transformation to a visionary and leading bank

At the present time domestic violence is a problem of great magnitude around the world. The prevalence of domestic violence directly and indirectly affects health, livelihoods and opportunities of women in worldwide. The vast majority of violence against women is committed not only by a stranger but also by an intimate partner. One of the most pervasive forms of violence against women is intimate partner violence which is committed by a current or former intimate partner or husband, whether cohabitating or not. Since violence against women occurs in all societies, within the home or in the wider community and it affects women and girls disproportionately. This study endeavors to fill the gap by comprehensively analyzing how socioeconomic and demographic characteristics shape three aspects of domestic violence: experiencing physical, emotional and sexual violence. The study also highlights the relationship between the domestic violence and help seeking behaviors of women who are experienced the domestic violence. Data for ever women age (15-49) from the 2015-2016 Myanmar Demographic and Health Survey (MDHS) are analyzed using logistic regression analysis. This study shows that emotional and physical violence are associated with women’s education, wealth quintile, having children, States/Regions, husband’s education, and woman afraid of husband. Women’s experience sexual violence is related to States/Regions, residence, age difference and woman afraid of husband. Strengthening SME policy development through data enhancement in Myanmar (Nu Nu Lwin, Mya Thandar, 2015)
The procedures and practices for business registration in Myanmar are still dispersed and the agencies responsible for registration and issuing business licenses are diverse based on size and location of the firms, types of business, and industrial sector. Moreover, desires to tax evasion, lack of incentive and weak enforcement to register as an SME are also the causes of small number of registered SMEs in Myanmar. Furthermore, the methods and procedures of collecting, processing, compiling, updating and dissemination of the data are rigorous and not systematic. As consequences, SMEs statistics are incomplete, fragmented and outdated in almost all data sources in Myanmar. In addition, the availability of SME data especially in the categories of financing, innovation and R&D, and international activities of the firms seems to be limited.
The results of the study highlight the weaknesses and problems of SME statistics in Myanmar. By addressing those issues through rectifying the business registration systems, improving data collection and administration procedures, and enhancing value of data with important aspects of SMEs based on international good practices, the comprehensive list of SMEs statistics can be developed which can be used to assess the status of Myanmar SMEs. By doing so, it can be expected to greatly contribute the SME policy formulation in Myanmar
