Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Why are we not always witnessing a take-off of the Moroccan cooperative model?
In a context of globalization, the capitalist economy is no longer immune to the deluge of crises that have followed one another since the crisis subprime in the United States until the Japanese stock market crisis influencing the global economic fabric. Thus, several countries with great economic strength like France have turned to the social and solidarity economy as an alternative banning the single search for financial gain by introducing additional social and environmental components. At this advanced stage and after 10 years of launching the INDH in its second phase, why associations and cooperatives still do not manage to be autonomous, responsible and independent? Why the various training, support and communication actions remain inefficient and inoperative? Why several projects that have emerged are still overdue despite the availability of financial funds? Why is Morocco still not witnessing the emergence of this great economic model
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
The Governance of Sustainable Development According to Imam Ali\u27s Letter 53 and the UN Agenda 2030: A Comparative Study of the Two Charters
This research is a comparative study between the famous Letter 53 of Imam Ali Ibn Abi Taleb and the UN Agenda 2030. With a textual analysis of the 117 passages of the fourth Caliph\u27s epistle, we study sustainable development goals (SDGs) stated by Agenda 2030 in Letter 53. Besides, we analyze the governance of sustainable development, according to Imam Ali\u27s economic vision. In the light of this comparative study, it has been observed that SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 of Agenda 2030 are the most expressed in the said Letter. Finally, we conclude our analysis with a comparative table showing a substantial similarity between the two charters\u27 vision. Nevertheless, some differences appear in specific themes\u27 objectives and a growing distinction between the SDGs and those grouped under Innovation and Technological Improvement
The main objective of this paper is to understand the process by which environmental scanning contributes to risk management during the internationalization of Moroccan SMEs to Africa. Methodologically, we have adopted an exploratory qualitative approach by induction, based on a sample of five cases. The results confirm that the risks perceived in internationalization are an incentive for the establishment of a permanent watch and scanning of the environmental sectors and areas considered as risk factors. In addition, business intelligence is highly dependent on several variables. Likewise, they show that information skills remain central variables, which influence the level of accessibility to sources of information, selectivity of information and the level of perception of the quality of information in foreign markets
Cooperative benchmarking at the heart of public policies
In Morocco, the emergence of the cooperative sector in a structured and organized form dates back to the 1980s, although the culture of solidarity, mutual aid and collective work constitute a component of Moroccan culture and traditions. Indeed, social economy organizations, particularly associations and cooperatives, have rapidly developed thanks to the efforts made by the State, especially in the rural world for the financing and support of development projects, the fight against illiteracy, precariousness and poverty, the promotion and integration of women into the economic circuit. Even today and since May 18, 2005, the date of the launch of the National Human Development Initiative (INDH) by His Majesty King Mohamed VI, the aim of this study is to compare the Moroccan Model of cooperative with the other’s counties models
