Propuesta de herramienta para comunicar los impactos provenientes de los residuos mineros en la comunidad de Huautla, Morelos
No full textHuautla, Morelos, es una localidad rural en la Reserva de la Biósfera Sierra de Huautla con una
población de 860 habitantes, en la que existió explotación minera. A pesar de que la actividad
minera cesó hace años, la zona todavía alberga 780,000 toneladas de residuos mineros sin
tratamiento. Estos residuos representan un grave riesgo para la salud y el ambiente, ya que los
metales pesados que contienen pueden dispersarse. Se han realizado diversas investigaciones en
diferentes niveles biológicos sobre los impactos de los residuos mineros presentes, no obstante,
la difusión de esta información se lleva a cabo únicamente en conferencias académicas, por lo
que se necesita una herramienta para comunicar estos problemas a la población. El objetivo de
este proyecto fue diseñar una herramienta eficaz para comunicar los impactos de los residuos
mineros en la comunidad de Huautla, Morelos. Para lograr esto, se realizó una descripción del
área de estudio, utilizando datos geográficos, demográficos y socioculturales recopilados del
INEGI para adaptar la herramienta de comunicación. Luego, se llevó a cabo una revisión
sistemática de documentos publicados entre 2007 y 2022, en inglés y español, para identificar
herramientas efectivas de comunicación de los impactos de los residuos mineros en la salud y el
ambiente, siguiendo las pautas Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-
Analysis (PRISMA). Se establecieron criterios de inclusión y exclusión para los estudios y,
finalmente, se propuso una herramienta de comunicación. La herramienta propuesta para
comunicar los impactos de los residuos mineros en Huautla fue el guion de un video de 5 minutos
titulado "El viaje de los metales: problemática y soluciones", diseñado para comunicar los impactos de
los residuos mineros y permitir una conexión con la comunidad al mostrar experiencias de los
habitantes, de manera accesible y visual.Huautla, Morelos, is a rural town in the Reserva de la Biósfera Sierra de Huautla with a population
of 860 inhabitants, where mining exploitation existed. Although mining activity stopped years
ago, the area still hosting 780,000 tons of untreated mining waste. This landfill represents a
serious risk to health and the environment since the residual heavy metals may disperse. Various
investigations have been carried out at different biological levels on the impacts of the mining
waste. However, the dissemination of this information is carried out only in academic
conferences, so a tool is needed to communicate these problems to the population. The objective
of the project was to design an effective communication tool to communicate the impacts of
mining waste in the community of Huautla, Morelos. To achieve this objective, a description of
the study area was performed, using geographic, demographic and sociocultural data collected
from INEGI to adapt the communication tool. Next, a systematic review of bibliography
published between 2007 and 2022, in English and Spanish, was carried out to identify effective
tools for communicating the impacts of mining waste on health and the environment, following
Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines.
Inclusion and exclusion criteria were established for the studies and, finally, a communication
tool was proposed. The proposed tool to communicate the impacts of mining waste in Huautla
was the script of a 5-minute video titled "El viaje de los metales: problemática y soluciones", designed to
communicate the impacts of mining waste and allow a connection with the community by

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
