Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

No full textBACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to translate and culturally adapt the Northeastern State University College of Optometry (NSUCO) oculomotor test for the Italian language and evaluate its psychometric properties for use on a healthy pediatric population.METHODS: International guidelines were followed for the translation and cultural adaptation process. The internal consistency and stability of the scale were calculated using Cronbach's a and the interclass correlation coefficient (ICC), respectively.RESULTS: The scale was administered to 160 subjects ages 5 through13 years recruited bythe Comprehensive Institute of Central Italy. The Italian version of the NSUCO test showed a Cronbach's a of 0.73 and good stability at the intra-rater (ICC with a range between 0.50 and 0.84) and inter-rater (ICC with a range between 0.71 and 0.97).CONCLUSIONS: The study provides Italian orthoptists with a valid and reliable tool, usable in a rapid manner in clinical practice in the evaluation of saccadic and tracking movements in a healthy Italian pediatric population

Full text linkQuesto lavoro presenta un’attività di ricerca industriale mirata all’individuazione di un’adeguata rete di ricarica elettrica finalizzata a garantire la circolazione di autovetture elettriche (ibride e non) a partire dalle aree comunali, per estendersi all’intero territorio regionale della Basilicata. È inoltre presentato uno stato dell’arte sulle infrastrutture di ricarica elettrica e sul parco degli autoveicoli elettrici su scala nazionale e regionale. In funzione dei target previsionali al 2030 definiti nel Piano Nazionale Infrastrutture per la Ricarica dei veicoli Elettrici (PNIRE) e sulla base delle stime dei veicoli elettrici del Piano Nazionale Integrato Energia e Clima (PNIEC) sia per la mobilità elettrica che per le infrastrutture di ricarica, sono stati poi individuati i criteri per un potenziamento della rete infrastrutturale di ricarica, necessario a coprire in modo più omogeneo le diverse aree geografiche nella regione Basilicata.This work presents an industrial research activity aimed at identifying an appropriate electric recharging network to guarantee the circulation of electric cars (hybrid and full electric) from the municipal areas to the entire regional territory of Basilicata. A state of the art on electric recharging infrastructures and the electric vehicles on a national and regional scale is presented. Based on the Italian targets for 2030 defined in the National Infrastructure Plan for the Recharging of Electric Vehicles (PNIRE) and based on electric vehicle forecasts in the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) for both electric mobility and recharging infrastructure, the criteria for upgrading the recharging infrastructure network necessary to cover the geographical areas in the Basilicata have been identified

No full textAdults with severe growth hormone (GH) deficiency (GHD) may develop a cluster of cardiovascular risk factors that may contribute to a reduced life expectancy with increased mortality due to cardiovascular disease. In adolescents with severe GHD there is also increasing evidence which suggests that the discontinuation of GH replacement therapy at the completion of linear growth may result in adverse effects on body composition, lipid profile, cardiac morphology and performance. In contrast, relatively few studies have investigated whether or not children with GHD have metabolic and cardiac abnormalities that may place them at higher risk of cardiovascular disease at an early age. This review focuses on the effect of both GHD and GH replacement on cardiovascular risk factors in children and adolescents with GH
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
