TIMING AND SPACING CONCEPTS: PERFORMANCES IN YOUNG BASKETBALL PLAYERS
The research was carried out through a manual data detection and observation to monitor the sports performance of a sample of 30 young male athletes, aged between 14 and 16 years, playing basketball at amateur level. The objective of the study was to monitor and enhance the acquisition of the timing and spacing concepts by improving the percentage of passes and shots and developing the coordination and strength skills. The tests were administered at the beginning, at mid-way stage, and at the end of the observation period with athletes divided into two groups, A and B, after taking part in 30 additional training sessions from September 2015 to June 2016 with analytical methods of exercises development. The final output showed an improvement of about a 4% for Group A, and of about a 14% for Group B

The drop-outs in young players
Competitive performances is the result of numerous components that determine success at sports or demotivation that can result in drop-out phenomenon. One of the main components, which causes young people to play sports, is certainly the motivation that the practice of sport is intended primarily as an opportunity for socialization and fun. Young athletes need a continuous reinforcement of motivation to develop the emotions and feelings, to test their skills and simultaneously gain recognition by peers and adults to prevent the abandonment of the sport activities. Methods and Materials The study was conducted over the course of two years on 150 young athletes, football practitioners, who were between 14 and 16 years old and registered at Football Schools in the City of Naples. The purpose of the research was to demonstrate the reduction in drop-outs through the reinforcement of motivation, by acting on the variation of the training and on inclusive and collaborative capabilities of the team. The young people were given a survey with eight questions related to the components of motivation. Results and Conclusions The results show that by varying the content and duration of training and by working in the direction of providing cohesion to the team, the dropout ratio among young athletes has been reduced from 18.5% to 0% at the intermediate stage. Specifically, out of 125 athletes attending the football schools, 25 were the dropouts. The training courses were planned and developed jointly with the staff of the football schools both for the first and second years of the research. These school need to be identified not only as places for teaching football but as educational and training places
IMPROVEMENT OF THE MOTOR PERFORMANCE DIFFERENCE IN ATHLETES OF WEELCHAIR BASKETBALL.
he purpose of this study was to investigate the reliability and validity of wheelchair basketball as motor difference performance of 20 disabled athletes practising wheelchair basketball. They resulted with variable classifications-point between 1 and 4.5 and had different positions. Pre-requisites were the different disabilities of the athletes, due to mobility impairment by traumatic injuries, polio, mutilations, and others, resulted compatible with the basketball practice. Aims were improving the percentage of shooting and passing by strengthening the upper limbs through specific exercises and the use of competition balls, medicine balls, and elastics fitband. The data were collected during two academic years at the Faculty of Sport Sciences (now the Department of Sport Sciences and Wellness) of the University of Naples Parthenope to evaluate the conditional and coordinative abilities used in passing and shooting in wheelchair basketball. The research carried out using an observation method and handwriting reporting-was made on a sample of 20 disabled athletes who already had experienced national wheelchair basket leagues and who belonged to the "CISS Basket Napoli" team, including athletes of the junior team. The study included initial, intermediate and final tests. The final output, recorded at the end of the second agonistic season, showed the improvement percentage of about 6, 5% validating a methodology based on supplementary training. The athletes of group B showed an incremented percentage and even some athletes of group A, determined to train with greater concentration, showed improvements in their performances reaching higher points of percentage
INCLUSIVE SPORTS AND BEST PRACTICES
This study presents a basketball-based motor program to promote
school inclusion of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The project involved 30 students aged 11 to 13 in 30 afternoon
sessions. Pre- and post-intervention questionnaires and motor tests
revealed average improvements of 20% in attention, collaboration,
self-esteem, and space-time organization. The program encouraged
well-being and active participation in the educational context
Use and attitudes toward dietary supplements and drugs amongst Italian elite athletes and its correlation with banned doping substances
Athletes frequently use dietary supplements (DS) to find better results as soon as possible. Moreover, they also will be occurring in “polypharmacy” or in substances prohibited for doping. The aim of this retrospective sectional study was to explore use and attitudes toward drugs and dietary supplements (DS) in Italian Sports Federations and its correlation with banned doping substances token amongst elite athletes. The data shows the results from 2012 to 2017, among Italian Sports Federations elite athletes and the analysis of the anti-doping controls from the Ministry of Health annual reports. The results show that the largest number of supplements consumption declarations was recorded in 2014 in sport as cycling and athletics. Moreover, in the same year and in 2012 there were 48 and 42 declarations on 58 and 52 doped athletes. Among the Italian federations, three are particularly controlled: FCI - cycling, FIDAL - athletics and FIGC – football. Most of the consumers subjects are male athletes. So maybe there is a link between NS and positive results in anti-doping test. The consumption of health products is constantly expanding and educational interventions will be needed to improve drugs and DS use about elite athletes as well in amateur athletes
