Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. 地域資源としての古文書を考える―川根本町殿岡家文書の調査研究―
Get PDFその他研究川根本町の殿岡家が所蔵する古文書を調査し、古文書目録を作成してその散逸を防ぐとともに、地域資源としての古文書の活用方法を探ることを目的とする。 また、殿岡家文書は殿岡嗽石（1851―1933）によって蓄積された文書を主とする。嗽石は、山林経営や地域郵便局の開設・運営に関わった、いわゆる地方名望家である。嗽石のような地方名望家が担った「公」的な役割を解明し、地域社会に固有な歴史・生活・文化を考察する。令和元年9月6～8日、11月15～17日 : 殿岡家（川根本町千頭）において、史料調査を実施。1月以降、目
録データ入力・確認作業。
令和2年10月～3月 : 殿岡家より史料を借用し、毎週ゼミ終了後に史料調査を実施。
令和3年6月19～20日、7月3～4日、12月4～5日 : 殿岡家より史料を借用し、大学内（自由創造工房）において史料調査を実施。そのほか、ゼミ後に補充調査を実施。
令和3年11月21日 : 現地見学（川根本町殿岡家、資料館やまびこなど）。
令和4年3月9日 : 報告会「地域資源としての古文書を考える―川根本町殿岡家文書の調査研究―」を開催（オンライン）第一の目的である古文書調査については、3年間で約3300点余の目録を作成することができた。古文書は1点ごとに中性紙封筒に収納して保存をはかるとともに、作成した目録はデータベース化して利用体制を整えた。調査においては、学生や卒業生をはじめ、学外から協力者を得て実施し、地域研究における古文書の重要性について実践的に学ぶことができた。
3年間の調査内容については、最終報告会において、水谷悟が「調査の概要について」として報告した。 地方名望家としての嗽石と地域社会の考察については、最終報告会において二つの事例を紹介した。協力者の伴野文亮（東北大学助教）は「川根倶楽部と殿岡漱石」として、1896(明治29)年に創立された川根倶楽部を事例に、嗽石が大井川によって分断されていた志太郡東川根村と榛原郡上川根村の住民の新しい地域づくりを主導したことを紹介した。西田かほる「殿岡嗽石と日本平―神社建設と日本新八景―」では、927(昭和2)年に嗽石が樹木の神を祀る殖樹神社を日本平に建設しようとした事例から、山林経営者であり全国組織である大日本山林会の特別会員であった嗽石の山林事業に対する思想を、当時の社会背景とともに考察した。PDF殿岡家文書の調査を継続し、目録を作成して誰もが史料を利用できる体制を整えることにより、地域に成果を還元する。あわせて殿岡家文書に限らず、地域を考える上で古文書（地域の歴史）がいかに重要であるかを、川根本町の方々とともに考える機会を設ける。その一環として、川根本町において、史料の展示をはじめ、中高校生を交えた学習会なども計画したい。 史料内容の分析については、『静岡文化芸術大学研究紀要』などに発表する。R3-18technical repor
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
