Methanol to dimethylether on H-MFI catalyst: The influence of the Si/Al ratio on kinetic parameters
No full textA series of H-MFI zeolites at different Si/Al ratio were prepared and characterised in terms of physical and chemical properties and morphology. The zeolites were tested in the methanol dehydration reaction to Dimethyl Ether (DME), aiming at investigate the catalyst stability as a function of the reaction temperature. According to literature the temperature interval was set in the way of keeping a DME selectivity close to one and this required a lower temperature when increasing the catalyst acidity. Conversion data were measured at different catalyst amount/reactant flow rate ratios and the initial rate was extrapolated from the early points. Arrhenius plot of these initial rates as a function of temperature allowed to estimate the (apparent) activation energy as a function of the catalyst acidity (from 50 to 70 kJ/mol). Main findings were the confirmation that the catalyst performance is favoured by the higher acidity, but also samples at the lower is the Si/Al ratio exhibited the higher activation energy, revealing as the more sensitive to temperature variation. © 2013 Elsevier B.V

No full textC’è oggi nella cultura occidentale un silenzio che urla: quello degli intellettuali che hanno rinunciato al loro ruolo. Il pensiero critico appare appiattito sui luoghi comuni e sul dibattito politico immediato. Sembra scomparsa una riflessione teorica capace di aff rontare la complessità dei problemi, di compiere analisi di lungo periodo, di cogliere le potenzialità e i pericoli insiti nell’attuale situazione, in sintesi, di analizzare “razionalmente” le tante questioni da troppo tempo rinviate. Questo volume riafferma la necessità di un pensiero che voglia conoscere criticamente la realtà, mostrando la ricchezza del contributo che gli antichi greci hanno offerto. Si può e si deve utilizzare il sapere antico per riflettere sul mondo contemporaneo. Si tratta di mettere in opera quell’atteggiamento critico che è la cifra della filosofia fin dalle sue origini: essa nasce dalla meraviglia, dalla sorpresa, dalla coscienza dell’instabilità che spinge ad uscire dal recinto del noto per addentrarsi senza esitazioni nell’ignoto, recuperando il valore dell’approccio razionale

No full textL’attenzione al milieu fenomenologico, in particolare di Jean-Luc Marion e Michel Henry, messo a confronto con l’ermeneutica ricoeuriana e pareysoniana, ha stimolato l’approfondimento del pensiero levinassiano sul tema della coscienza attraversata da un’ulteriorità rispetto all’immediatezza di sé. Queste linee di ricerca mirano a considerare lo specifico dell’umano, a partire dalla nozione della physis per giungere alla questione del sé. L’interesse che muove il discorso è quello di un illuminismo più alto, che superi la dicotomia di materiale e spirituale. A tal fine è proposta un’ermeneutica della figura angelica, come possibilità ulteriore di finitezza

The relation of contrariety in the ancient thought and in the Aristotelian formalization
No full textIn the Greek language two words are used to indicate opposite things: antikeimenos and enantios.
Grammatically the word antikeimenos is a middle passive present participle deriving from antikeimenai. In turn, this verb is made up of the preposition anti (which acts as a prefix) and from the verb keimai. The preposition anti has several meanings and different nuances however it essentially carries three concepts: the meaning of 1. being “in front of”, “face to face” (in this case it corresponds to the Latin ante); 2. “instead of”, “in place of”; 3. “in change of”, “rather than”. In Aristotle’s physical works, a number of very interesting applications of some models of contrariety can be found especially from the perceptive point of view. In these works, it is evident that the organization of reality based on contrariety expresses a requirement of classification and order which, in most cases, Aristotle takes out starting from a strong attention to the experience. Moreover, through these examples it is possible to verify the different functionalities that contrariety can assume with respect to the classification or explanation of reality
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
