applicare a qualsiasi lingua.
Folk Narrative and EFL: A Narrative Approach to Language Learning
This paper aims to bridge folk narrative studies and literature on foreign language learning, by providing an
overview of the applications of folk narratives—from fairy tales to contemporary legends—to EFL teaching and
learning. It focuses on how the very nature of oral narratives, of which the English language has a particularly
varied and rich tradition, can act on the acquisition of English as a foreign language from a linguistic and a cultural
point of view
Comparative study of thermochemical processes for hydrogen production from biomass fuels
Different thermochemical configurations (gasification, combustion, electrolysis and syngas separation) are studied for producing hydrogen from biomass fuels. The aim is to provide data for the production unit and the following optimization of the "hydrogen chain" (from energy source selection to hydrogen utilization) in the frame of the Italian project "Filiera ldrogeno". The project focuses on a regional scale (Tuscany, Italy), renewable energies and automotive hydrogen. Decentred and small production plants are required to solve the logistic problems of biomass supply and meet the limited hydrogen infrastructures. Different options (gasification with air, oxygen or steam/oxygen mixtures, combustion, electrolysis) and conditions (varying the ratios of biomass and gas input) are studied by developing process models with uniform hypothesis to compare the results. Results obtained in this work concern the operating parameters, process efficiencies, material and energetic needs and are fundamental to optimize the entire hydrogen chain. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Development of Gasifier Models for Hydrogen Production Optimization
In this work different gasifiers (entrained flow reactors and dual beds) are modeled with AspenPlusTM according to a procedure which aims at providing useful tools for optimization studies of comprehensive process models. The innovative feature consists in the separation of the steps of solid fuel gasification (devolatilization, oxidation, gasification of the char, homogeneous reactions and tar cracking) and the development of dedicated sub-models (by adapting conventional blocks or implementing structural models as CPD for coal de volatilization). Therefore all steps are connected to respect the material and heat balances according to the gasifier configuration. In this way, the temperature can be related to the operating conditions, i.e. fuel, oxygen and steam flow rates. This aspect is valuable in itself because removes the hypothesis of equilibrium reactors, generally assumed in literature works. Furthermore, the heat balance on the entire reactor allows to quantify the heat recovery, which could be crucial for efficiency calculations of the hydrogen production plant. Also, "by-products" and residual char can be quantified and consequently minimized depending on the operating conditions. Finally, the development of a "gasifier model" instead of a "gasification model" allows different reactor configurations to be compared and optimized. Copyright © 2009, AIDIC Servizi S.r.l
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
