A Holistic Evaluation of Buddhism Literature: A Bibliometric Analysis of Global Publications Related to Buddhism Between 1975 and 2017
Although Buddhism is the fourth largest religion of the world with almost 500 million followers, to the best of our knowledge, academic literature lacks a bibliometric study investigating Buddhism documents. We used four databases provided by Web of Science; Thomson Reuters to extract the academic documents related to Buddhism and included all items published between 1975 and 2017. We generated info-maps and info-graphics showing distribution of world countries’ publication productivity and connections in bibliometric networks. A total of 25,267 articles were included and the most common document types were original articles, reviews and meeting reports (76.11, 19,38 and 3.84, respectively). English and Korean were the major languages of Buddhism literature (48.12 and 44.95%). United States of America (USA) was leading country with 4572 articles (18.81%) followed by the United Kingdom, China, Canada and Japan (3.32, 2.58, 2.1 and 2.07%, respectively). The most productive countries were Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan (s = 19.34, 18.57, 16.42 and 15.45). We noted that six of ten most producing institutions in Buddhism literature were from the USA. No institutions from developing or least-developed countries were in the top-ten list. Researchers from the countries with large Buddhist population should be encouraged and supported to carry out more articles in Buddhist literature

Quantum Machine Learning: A Scientometric Assessment of Global Publications during 1999-2020
The study provides a quantitative and qualitative description of global research in the domain of quantum machine learning (QML) as a way to understand the status of global research in the subject at the global, national, institutional, and individual author level. The data for the study was sourced from the Scopus database for the period 1999-2020. The study analyzed global research output (1374 publications) and global citations (22434 citations) to measure research productivity and performance on metrics. In addition, the study carried out bibliometric mapping of the literature to visually represent network relationship between key countries, institutions, authors, and significant keyword in QML research. The study finds that the USA and China lead the world ranking in QML research, accounting for 32.46% and 22.56% share respectively in the global output. The top 25 global organizations and authors lead with 35.52% and 16.59% global share respectively. The study also tracks key research areas, key global players, most significant keywords, and most productive source journals. The study observes that QML research is gradually emerging as an interdisciplinary area of research in computer science, but the body of its literature that has appeared so far is very small and insignificant even though 22 years have passed since the appearance of its first publication. Certainly, QML as a research subject at present is at a nascent stage of its development
Quantum Sensing Research: A Scientometric Assessment of Global Publications during 1991-2020
The study presents a global research scenario in the domain of quantum sensing in quantitative and qualitative terms. The study is based on an analysis of 588 global publications in the field, sourced from the Scopus database for the period 1991-2020. The study identified key countries, organizations and authors, network collaborative linkages at national, institutional, and author level. In addition, it identified broad subject areas intersecting quantum sensing research, key journals for research communications, and broad characteristics of highly-cited papers. The study finds that the USA and Germany lead the world ranking in quantum sensing research with a combined share of 50% to the global output. The USA, Germany, and Italy are the home countries to 13 of the top 15 most productive organizations, and also the home countries to 14 of the top 15 most productive authors in the subject. The top journals publishing most research publications are Physical Review A, Physical Review Letters and New Journal of Physics. However, in the most cited journals list in the subject, Agriculture & Forest Meterology, Science and Physical Review A tops the list
Digital Publishing Habits, Perceptions of Open Access Publishing and Other Access Publishing: Across Continents Survey Study
In this transformative world, changes are happening in all the fields, including scholarly communications are trending in the academic area of publication and access to the resources, especially emerging the wave of open access, open science and open research. The study aims to investigate the digital publishing behaviour of manuscript authors. This study applied a quantitative approach and survey questionnaire method. The researcher collected the data from 251 authors, editors, and peer-reviewers from 45 countries worldwide. The research mainly focuses on the importance, need, and author preference for open access journals. Everyone cannot use and access subscription-based journals; the critical reason is the cost of purchasing a tremendous amount. As an independent researcher, developing countries and other impoverished countries, researchers can give the utmost importance to open access journals. The author also wishes to publish a journal in open access only. The findings reveal that most authors like to publish digital and print in both formats, with chargeless publications. Open access publishing has a vital role with researchers, scholars, and students because accessing the articles is costless. The researcher publishing the manuscript is more important than the quality of the content also important in scholarly publication. Nowadays, open-access peer-reviewed journals are also equal to the paid journals
Holistic analysis of global feminism publications: A bibliometric evaluation of feminism literature between 1975 and 2017
Bibliometrics is a relatively novel statistical branch investigating academic publications in a certain field. Although there has been an increasing popularity of bibliometric studies in recent years, scientific literature lacks a holistic analysis of feminism literature. To the best of our knowledge our study was the first bibliometric analysis of the publications in feminism literature. All data of this study was obtained from Web of Science databases. All documents produced in feminism literature between 1975 and 2017 were included. A total of 44,920 published articles were found. The peak year of feminism literature was 2017 with 3378 articles. English was the major language of the literature and it covered 83.91% of total documents. The United States of America (USA) dominated the area with 18,127 articles and covered 40.35% of all literature followed by the UK, Canada, Australia, Spain, Brazil and South Africa (n=5035, 3383, 2180, 777, 620 and 472 documents, respectively). Publications related to feminism were produced from almost all regions in the world except for some African and Asian countries. Canada was the most productive country with a score of 91.55 followed by the Australia, New Zealand and the UK (s=88, 81.11 and 75.63, respectively). Eun-Ok Im from the USA was the most prolific author with 40 articles in feminism field. The USA was the predominant country during all the period of 1975 to 2017. University of California System was the most contributor institution between 1975 and 2009 although University of London ranked the first after 2010. Developed countries dominated feminism literature and all 20 most contributor funding agencies were from developed countries. The researchers from developing and least-developed countries should be supported to produce new publications in the field of feminism
A Scientometric analysis of Journal of Agronomy and Crop Science (2000 -2019) indexed in Web of Science
The present study attempts to analyze the publication productivity of the Journal of Agronomy and Crop Science during the year 2000-2019. The study was based on the data extracted from the Web of Science database. The primary purpose of the study is to analyze the research contributions of the journal under review. Through this investigation, the authors have tried to know the publication trend in the field of agronomy and related areas. The analysis covers the number of articles, year-wise distribution of articles along with citations, authorship pattern, institutions/organizations with the highest contributions, and the study also gives year-wise h-index of the journal. The study reveals that the journal understudy had produced a total of 1077 research articles. The publications have received 22,328 citations with which the said journal reached h-index of 63. Average citation per paper is 22.65, and journal impact factor 2020 is 3.094, which falls under quartile 1 (Q1) category journal. The highest number of contributions were from Germany (142 articles) and The United States (141 articles). Further, the study adopts Lotka’s Inverse Square Law of Scientific Productivity to find the recurrence of contributions of authors in agronomy and its related areas. The authors have also used the Journal Citation Report (JCR) to know the impact factor of the journal, and VOSviewer tool was used to represent the results of the study graphically
Fifty Years (1970-2019) Journey of \u27Journal of Documentation\u27: A Scientometric Analysis of Research Productivity and Publication Trends
Purpose
In this study, we conducted quantitative analysis of 1706 scholarly literature published in Journal of Documentation during the period of 1970 to 2019 (fifty years) using a series of scientometric indicators. Annual scientific production, most local cited sources, the ranking of authors; profiles, contributions, correlation, collaboration and authorship pattern, most contributed countries, most cited articles, frequently used search terms/keywords, and the legend of historiographic mapping were analysed in detail to measure the impact of the source.
Design/methodology/approach
We used the Scopus database for retrieving the desired sample data. In total, 1,706 numbers of publications records were considered for the literature analysis considering their relevancy. Biblioshiny data visualization tool is used to create the various maps.
Findings
The present study found that annual scientific production and average citations constantly have had an uptrend. The journal\u27s had tremendous impact with an h-index of 80, with a g-index of 148, total citations of 37,161 within the studied period. Although Bawden D contributed the highest number of research papers (n=78), the work published by Hjørland B received the highest citations. Lotka\u27s Law reveals that about 75.04% of the authors (1319 authors) have one publication, and approximately 12.73% of the authors (225 authors) have two publications. The United Kingdom was the dominant country in terms of number of papers and citation count whereas University of Sheffield topped with 128 publications. The thematic map consists of eleven clusters and ‘information retrieval’ found to be the largest cluster comprehending 56 subthemes occurring 995 times. Co-citation network identified four clusters with revealing Wilson TD as the most cited authors. The study also indicates the most collaborative authors are from the United Kingdom.
Research limitations/implications
The study exclusively deals with 1732 published research literature indexed in the Scopus database covering a span of fifty years (from 1970 to 2019). Thus, documents which are not covered in Scopus are excluded from the purview of research. This study is significant in order to measure the impact of Journal of Documentation and useful to identify valuable research patterns from publications and of developments in the field of Information Science
Twenty-five years study (1995–2019) of Food and Bioproducts Processing: An overview of research trends
In the current study, we presented an overview of the publication profile of Food and Bioproducts Processing (FBP), a leading international journal on food processing. The detailed analysis was made to measure its scientific progress from 1995 to 2019 by identifying publication trends, most cited articles, leading institutes, and profolic countries. The publication dataset and citations information were retrieved from the Scopus bibliographic database hosted by Elsevier. Several scientific achievements were observed in publications (n=1548), impact factor 3.726 or CiteScore 6.10, and the citations (a total of 33,663) over the 25-year time frame. The factorial analysis revealed that the journal research focuses on two clusters. The first cluster focused on moisture determination, spray drying, mathematical models, thermal processing foods, food products and food processing, and the second cluster focuses on research areas of the dimension of surface properties, organic solvents, response surface methodology, antioxidant activities, flavonoids, solvent extraction and fermentation. Although citations have increased significantly need wider publicity of the work. The most cited articles were identified with the interdisciplinary research within food science and technology and added to reinforce science advancement within the field. Overall, these findings highlighted the evolution, progress, quality, and efficiency of the journal and provided early-profession researchers/specialists with an opportunity to lead more inventive studies in food science and technology (FST)
BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF THE 200 MOST CITED ARTICLES ON ANTIOXIDANT FROM 1976-2020
Antioxidant helps to reduce various disorders and control pathological conditions such as cancer, aging, cardiovascular disease, cataracts, immune system decline, and brain dysfunction etc. In this study, the top 200 highly cited articles (citations 327,657) with total 647 authors were retrieved from Elsevier’s Scopus database (105,440 hits) by the keyword “antioxidant” published across the worldwide for the timespan 1976-2020 years. The data were analysed through bibliometric indicators by using VOSviewer and biblioshiny tools to explore various parameters i.e. keywords co-occurrence, authors contribution, highly cited journals, affiliations/organization engaged and worldwide collaboration. In the year 2001 and 1996, maximum number of articles were published 19 and 17 respectively. In total, 2,312 keywords, most occurrence keyword was polyphenol derivative. Rice-Evans, Prior and Miller were contributed maximum number of articles 9, 8 and 7 respectively. Out of 94, J. Agric Food Chem. was the dominating journal for the study. The higher frequency of collaboration was observed in the USA. This article will confined very prominent and widely covered area on the subject matter on Antioxidant in food science and technology domain. The confined and significant data in this article will definitely useful for research community
