Neolithic climatic instances from North and Central Sudan: the case of R12 and al Khiday populations
No full textThis work brings together data from the isotopic analyses of two Neolithic sites in Sudan, R12 (Dongola
region) and 16-D-4 (al-Khiday, central Sudan) already published separately except for some new data for the 16-
D-4 site. Although the two sites belong to the same archaeological period, isotopic differences are evident. During
this period contacts between Northern and Central Sudan are well documented by the pottery production. In this
study we bring a further contribution to the knowledge of (1) the process of neolithisation along the Nile Valley, in
particular in Nubia and Central Sudan, (2) the contacts between the populations of the two region, (3) the different
dietary habits related, possibly, to different environmental conditions
