    This is a continuation of a study on Riemann theta function representations of algebro-geometric solutions to soliton hierarchies. In this part, we straighten out all flows in soliton hierarchies under the Abel–Jacobi coordinates associated with Lax pairs, upon determining the Riemann theta function representations of the Baker–Akhiezer functions, and generate algebro-geometric solutions to soliton hierarchies in terms of the Riemann theta functions, through observing asymptotic behaviours of the Baker–Akhiezer functions. We emphasize that we analyse the four-component AKNS soliton hierarchy in such a way that it leads to a general theory of trigonal curves applicable to construction of algebro-geometric solutions of an arbitrary soliton hierarchy.</jats:p

    This is the first part of a study, consisting of two parts, on Riemann theta function representations of algebro-geometric solutions to soliton hierarchies. In this part, using linear combinations of Lax matrices of soliton hierarchies, we introduce trigonal curves by their characteristic equations, explore general properties of meromorphic functions defined as ratios of the Baker–Akhiezer functions, and determine zeros and poles of the Baker–Akhiezer functions and their Dubrovin-type equations. We analyse the four-component AKNS soliton hierarchy in such a way that it leads to a general theory of trigonal curves applicable to construction of algebro-geometric solutions of an arbitrary soliton hierarchy.</jats:p

    Applications of linear superposition principle to resonant solitons and complexitons

    We apply the linear superposition principle to Hirota bilinear equations and generalized bilinear equations. By extending the linear superposition principle to complex field, we construct complex exponential wave function solutions first and then get complexions by taking pairs of conjugate parameters. A few examples of mixed resonant solitons and complexitons to Hirota and generalized bilinear differential equations are presented

    We apply the Hirota direct method to construct complexiton solutions (complexitons). The key is to use Hirota bilinear forms. We prove that taking pairs of conjugate wave variables in the 2N-soliton solutions generates N-complexion solutions. The general theory is used to construct multi-complexion solutions to the Korteweg–de Vries equation

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
