Decentralized Intercell Interference Coordination in Uplink Cellular Networks using Adaptive Sub-Band Exclusion
In this paper, we propose an adaptive sub-band exclusion (ASE) scheme as a means of intercell interference coordination (ICIC) technique to improve the performance of wireless cellular systems in a decentralized manner. Since ICIC is performed at each mobile station (MS), the proposed ASE scheme can be classified as a decentralized ICIC scheme. Compared to conventional centralized ICIC schemes, our proposed decentralized ASE scheme has the following advantages: cell and user coordinations are easier in the proposed ASE scheme, the complexity of ICIC at base stations (BSs) is reduced, and frequency selectivity characteristics of interference channels to neighboring base stations can be utilized in ICIC. Using the ASE scheme, each MS first finds which neighboring BS suffers most from the interference induced by the MS. Then, it determines an exclusion ratio a according to how much intercell interference the MS induces to the selected BS. Finally, it excludes a of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) sub-bands under the consideration of the frequency characteristics of the channel between the selected BS and itself. Through extensive computer simulations, we show that the proposed ASE scheme is effective in improving cell edge user performance by eight times at a reasonable degradation of average user performance

Dr. Kang is an Assistant Professor in Industrial & Systems Engineering and is the Director of the Human Factors and Simulation Laboratory at The University of Oklahoma. Dr. Kang’s background is in human-integrated systems modeling, and his specialty is in eye tracking data analysis methodologies. Dr. Kang’s research objective is to characterize, model, and analyze human decision making processes in order to understand human behavior and to inform the design of complex systems. He previously worked at Samsung and has performed research for National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere (CASA). Dr. Kang is currently corroborating with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA).

Study on Solar KANG Heating System for Cold Areas
AbstractThe current rural traditional heated kang cannot meet people's increasing requirements of comfort and environmental protection. This paper propose solar kang heating system in cold regions. System performance and heating effect were analyzed. We selected two typical rooms. One was set in traditional kang, and the other one was solar Kang type. Using temperature recording instrument and 64 roads inspection instrument and other instruments, we test the indoor temperature and the kang surface temperature of two rooms. Solar kang thermal resistance, heat storage, heat dissipation and heating effect were analyzed and compared. The results of the study show this system have the smaller fluctuation, more comfort while alleviating the kang surface overheat or super-cooling problem. It satisfied the requirements of indoor thermal comfort. The warming rate is 5.17°C/h, and the cooling rate is 3.01°C/h. These are slower than traditional Huokang speed. It improved the heat storage capacity of kang body with surface heat dissipation 1237W. Average temperature of the solar kang heating room was improved 3.28°C. It gets the smaller indoor temperature fluctuation. PMV values are concentrated about -0.5, and this basically meet the requirements of the user comfort
Main motifs in the prose of the leftist author Kang Kyŏng-ae
The subject of this bachelor thesis is the life and work of the Korean writer Kang Kyǒng-ae, with a focus on her short prose. The aim of this thesis is an analysis of two works - Salt and Darkness - with attention to the context of the author's time. Nowadays, Kang Kyǒng-ae is considered a significant author of the 1930s and her works reflect the phenomenon of Korean emigrants in Manchuria. For a long time, leftist tendencies caused her prose to be neglected, which resulted in a considerably limited number of studies concerned with her work, in comparison to the number of studies about other writers. There are virtually no Czech studies of her work. The text of the thesis initially presents the timeframe of Kang's authorship and then analyzes select works of hers.
