The middle school in Sambor under Franciszek Tomaszewski (1896-1904)
The author of the article looks into the activity of the Middle School in Sambor lead by Franciszek Tomaszewski (1896-1904) and the school community. Tomaszewski was a committed teacher, activist and prominent educator interested in politics and learning. His method was greatly inspired by his educational background from Kraków. In Sambor he
influenced many culturally, educationally and economically active teachers working under his tutelage. Due to the fact that the school in Sambor was funded by Sambor local government and teachers were active members of numerous local associations, the school was the centre for many events readily reported by the local press
Lubomir Tomaszewski – emotionalist
The article titled „Lubomir Tomaszewski – emotionalist” is dedicated to the work of the artist who died on November 15, 2018. The text reveals both less and more known aspects of Tomaszewski's life and creative work. It is chronologically presents his artistic career, starting from school times and less known facts about the artist's participation in the Warsaw Uprising, which influenced his later work. The author reached little-known documents and works from the Warsaw Rising Museum’s collection. Presenting Lubomir Tomaszewski one can not omit his animal and human figurines and coffee services designed for the Ćmielów Porcelain Factory, which made the artist famous. Successes in this field contributed to the artist's departure to the United States, where he became famous as a sculptor using natural materials such as wood, stone or metal. In the 90s the artist developed his own technique of painting with the use of smoke and fire. This technique allowed him both to reflect his wartime experiences and to create a series of works that show various aspects of movement, such as dancing. At the end of his life, he returned to cooperate with the Ćmielów Porcelain Factory and designed new models of figurines. Lubomir Tomaszewski was the leader of the international artistic assosiation „Emotionalists”, whose members in their works refer to the return to nature
Typefaces Centre in Warsaw (1968-1979)
The author presented the history and the most important project achievements of the Printing Typefaces Center (OPD), which for over a decade was a part of the Research & Development Centre for the Graphic Arts (COBRPP), celebrating its anniversary this year. The facility was managed by Roman Tomaszewski, a well-known publisher and graphic arts specialists. Dozens of typefaces were designed in OPD for page layout techniques that have forever been forgotten. Despite technological changes in printing, the OPD typographic resource is today a reservoir of lettering ready for digitization and making computer fonts
Response to the letter of Dr. Paweł E. Tomaszewski about the studies into the life of Jan Czochralski (in Polish)
The author replies to the letter of Dr. Paweł E. Tomaszewski, which is a subsequent (third) stage of the controversy regarding the facts of life of Jan Czochralski and the differences in the way they are presented by an amateur researcher and a professional historian. The source of the controversy is the biography Powrót. Rzecz o Janie Czochralskim (2012), the English edition: Jan Czochralski restored (2013).
In the opinion of the author, a professional historian of science may have some reservations regarding the sometimes too popular a style of the publications of Dr. Tomaszewski. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that so far this amateur [i.e. enthusiast] of historical research has done much more regarding the biography and achievements of Jan Czochralski than professional historians and historians of science.
This reply concludes the exchange of polemics

Commentary on the paper by Dr. Paweł E. Tomaszewski: “Jan Czochralski – the history of an extraordinary man”
The paper presents a rational critique of some interpretations by Dr. Paweł E. Tomaszewski of certain facts from the biography of Jan Czochralski (1885–1953) and of the convention adopted by Dr. Paweł E. Tomaszewski, of in which biographical archival sources and literature are relied on too infrequently. Consequently, certain interpretations of this author become too literary, which may give rise to a new historiographical myth of Jan Czochralski
On Optimization of Semi-stable Routing in Multicommodity Flow Networks
Ideally, the network should be dynamically reconfigured as traffic evolves. Unfortunately, even in SDN paradigm, network reconfigurations cannot be too frequent due to a number of reasons related to route stability, forwarding rules instantiation, individual flows dynamics, traffic monitoring overhead, etc. In this paper, we focus on the fundamental problem of deciding whether, when, and how to reconfigure the network during traffic evolution. We consider a problem of optimizing semi-stable routing in the capacitated multicommodity flow network when one may use at most a given maximum number of routing configurations (called clusters) and when each routing configuration must be used for at least a given minimum amount of time. We propose a solution method based on cluster generation that provides a good lower bound on the minimum network delay (i.e., the total of link delays) and scales well with the size of the network

We thank Dr Spence for his interest in the 2020 International Society of Hypertension (ISH) Global Hypertension Practice Guidelines and highlighting what he considers blind spots in the new guidelines. Specifically, the author is concerned that Liddle syndrome, one of the rare monogenic causes of hypertension is not mentioned and its treatment not appropriately addressed in the 2020 ISH guidelines. Dr Spence provides insightful comments describing the central role of the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) in Liddle syndrome which is responsible for its clinical features including early onset of salt-sensitive hypertension, hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis, and suppression of both renin and aldosterone secretion. Importantly, Liddle syndrome is associated with increased incidence
of premature cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events and usually unresponsive to mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists
Body mass index – proposed norms for children and youths
The aim of the study was to establish normal BMI values vs. age for children and youths having normal body fat content and to confront them with Cole’s cut-off points. In cohorts of 1373 boys and 1805 girls, aged 7–20 years, body fat content was determined from 3 skinfolds (triceps, subscapular, abdominal) using Slaughter’s equations. Next, 1069 boys and 759 girls with acceptable fat percentage (NF groups) were selected and for them log BMI values were computed. Equations of log BMI vs. age (means and SD) computed for NF groups served to present the proposed BMI norms. The obtained upper limits (mean log + 2SD) for boys and girls aged 19 years were 24.6 and 24.5, respectively, and the corresponding body fat contents –23.7 and 24.1, respectively. Inasmuch BMI does not reflect the real body fat content, the presented norms, based on acceptable body fat content, seem to reflect the weight-height relations better than those derived from unselected population data.POST-PUBLICATION NOTICESThe study was partly supported by grants No. AWF-DS.153 of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
