Proton conductivity of powder samples
Title: Proton Conductivity of Powder Samples Author: Lukáš Taraba Department: Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Science Supervisor: Doc. RNDr. David Havlíček, CSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: [email protected] Abstract This bachelor thesis is focused on the possibility of approximate determination of the specific conductivity of powder samples. It is based on X-ray diffraction analysis assuming the possibility of proton transfer by the system of properly arranged short hydrogen bonds in the structure of compounds. The selected substances were freshly prepared for the measurement. A newly prepared and investigated aminoguinidinium(1+) sulphamate was also measured. The specific conductivity of individual polycrystalline materials pressed into pellets or single crystal was calculated from the measured electrical resistance and dimensions of the samples. According to the results, this method of measurementis is fully sufficient for a gross estimate of whether the compound has a specific conductivity higher than that insulants usually have. Keywords proton conductivity - powder sample, hydrogen bond, aminoguanidinium(1+) sulphamat

VOCATIONAL TRAINING NEEDS OF UNEMPLOYED GRADUATES IN TARABA STATE
The purpose of the study was to identify the vocational training needs of unemployed graduates in Taraba state. Two research questions guided the study. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The area of the study was Taraba state in North-eastern Nigeria, and the population of the study comprises of all unemployed graduates with a minimum qualification of Higher National Diploma (HND) in the state. Stratified random sampling was used to arrive at a sample size to 150. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire. The instrument was validated by three experts in vocational education who are lecturers in institutions of higher learning. 150 copies of the instrument were administered of which 148 copies were properly filled and returned. Frequency count, Simple percentage and Ranking were used to analyze the research questions. Findings from the study among others indicated that most of the unemployed graduates (72%) are male while the rest (28%) are female. None of them had a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D). Also, 3%, 53% and 44% had Master of Science (M.Sc.) Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Higher National Diploma (HND) respectively. Electrical Installation and Maintenance, tailoring and hair dressing are the first three most preferred vocational training needed by unemployed graduates in Taraba State. It is therefore recommended among others that, Government should take girl-child education with all the seriousness it deserves through the promotion of inclusive education. Universities should ensure that the entrepreneurship components of their programmes are overhauled to respond to the needs of the society and the students
Profit Efficiency among Rain-Fed Rice Farmers in Northern Taraba State , Nigeria
The study analyzed the profit efficiency of rain-fed rice farmers in Northern zone of Taraba state by collecting data from 156 respondents in 2013. A measure of profit efficiency was provided using stochastic profit frontier and inefficiency model. The results showed that there were high levels of inefficiency in rice production. The mean level of profit efficiency was 59% indicating that 41% of the profit was lost due to a combination of both technical and allocative inefficiencies. The profit inefficiency model showed that age, education, farming experience, household size and access to credit facilities increased the profit efficiency of the respondents. It is therefore, recommended that learning opportunities, farm inputs and credit facilities should be made available to farmers in appropriate time. Medicinal plants used to treat Snake bite by Fulani Herdsmen in Taraba State, Nigeria
Snake bite remains a public health hazard in tropical countries. Taraba State with a high Fulani population has one of the highest incidences in the country. The Fulani herdsmen are more at risk because of their agropastoralist lifestyle. Their village settlement positions make it more difficult for them to assess antiserum, the only source of treatment available for snake bite, Therefore the only option left for them is the use of village surrounding medicinal plants for the treatment of the snake bite. Recent efforts on ethnopharmacology revealed several of these medicinal plants with potential to treat snake bite. This work was designed to document medicinal plants used by Fulani herdsmen in Taraba State, Nigeria, for the treatment of snake bites. Information provided will enable further study on the efficacy of the medicinal plants so identified. Eight out of the total sixteen Local government areas (LGAs) of Taraba State, Nigeria were selected for the survey. Sixty four (64) herdsmen with good ethnomedical knowledge were interviewed. The results showed that 19 plants species belonging to 15 plant families were used as remedies for the treatment of snake bite by 42.20% of the Fulani herdsmen interviewed. Annona senegalensis was the most frequently used plant. The proposed mechanisms of action of these plants with regards to venom enzymes inhibition or neutralization were discussed. Further studies on the efficacy and toxicity of these plants are suggested
Inventory management system of a company the methodics to design
Pursuant to the statistics data of Eurostat, the economy of European Union is slowly recovering from year lasting recession. The gross domestic product volume increased in 2nd quarter of the year 2013 by 0,3%. The industrial companies in EU are nevertheless facing still increasing competitiveness as the European and global markets are developing under current business conditions. To be successful within the frame of current supply chains the companies must have well-developed logistics management systems to effectively treat with flows streaming in their inner or outer supply chains. One of the main elements of company logistics management systems is inventory management subsystem to plan, to manage and to control particular stock items. In the paper it is briefly described the methodics to design effective inventory management system whether in industrial or service company (Hart, Musil & Taraba, 2014)
Hydro-geoelctrical study in Takum and environs of Taraba State, NE Nigeria
Twenty-eight Schlumberger Vertical Electrical Soundings (VES) with maximum current electrode spread (AB/2) of 215 meter, conducted in Takum and its environs of Taraba State have been interpreted. The area falls within Latitudes 7°15\'-7° 27\' N and Longitudes 10° 00\'-10° 15\' E. From the study, 42% of the VES data indicate a three-layer geoelectric earth model, while the remaining 58% of the VES indicate four layer models. The first layer has an average thickness of 1.25m, and an average resistivity value of 1716 ohm-m. The second layer has an average thickness of about 8.31m and a mean resistivity value of 646 ohm-m.The third layer has an average thickness of 17.37m and an average resistivity of 3187 ohm-m. The forth layer has a mean resistivity value of 6886 ohm-m.Based on the resistivity survey, five boreholes of depth between 69 and 99 m were drilled in the study area. The water table of the boreholes drilled varied from 1.3 to 5.1m. A relatively moderate mean transmissivity (T) value of 29m2/day, and an average hydraulic conductivity (k) value of 0.494 m/day, and pH value of 6.98 were also obtained.Global Journal of Geological Sciences Vol. 3(2) 2005: 109-11
Public Perception of Radio Coverage of Farmers/Fulani Herdsmen Conflict in Taraba State: Case Study of Taraba State Broadcasting Service, Jalingo, Nigeria
Farmers and herdsmen conflict was one of the many challenges that have thwarted harmony in most parts of Nigeria. Based on this, radio was always expected to be seen promoting unity and mutual respect through its programs. Therefore, at all times, broadcast media (radio) was expected to adopt a position aimed at dowsing the conflict and promoting mutual understanding and harmony. This research therefore, examined public perception of radio coverage of farmers and Fulani herdsmen conflict in Taraba State. The research focused on Taraba State Broadcasting service, Jalingo. The study was anchored on two theories: Agenda-Setting and Social Responsibility. A survey research design was adopted for the research. The sample size adopted was 400 respondents. The research used a questionnaire to gather data; an in-depth interview complemented it. The method of data analysis adopted was descriptive analysis. Findings showed that the media did not allocate much attention to the conflict, hence the lack of frequent coverage. Findings also showed no detailed dissemination of information about the crises. The research concluded that the broadcast media under study were not conscious of their society by being unprofessional in their coverage of the conflict and not adequately informing people about it. Therefore, the research recommended that broadcast media in Nigeria go beyond their cardinal functions and fully imbibe the practice of conflict reporting and management practice
