SEAS, a secure e-voting protocol: design and implementation
No full textThis paper presents SEAS, the Secure E-voting Applet System, a protocol for implementing a secure system for polling over computer networks, usable in distributed organizations whose members may range up to dozens of thousands. We consider an architecture requiring the minimum number of servers involved in the validation and voting phases. Sensus, [Cranor L, Cytron RK. Sensor: a security-conscious electronic polling system for the internet. In: Proceedings of HICSS'97. IEEE; 1997. p. 561–70], a well-known e-voting protocol, requires only two servers, namely a validator and a tallier. Even if satisfying most of the security requirements of an e-voting system, Sensus suffers from a vulnerability that allows one of the entities involved in the election process to cast its own votes in place of those that abstain from the vote. SEAS is a portable and flexible system that preserves the limited number of servers of Sensus, but it avoids the mentioned vulnerability. We propose a prototype implementation of SEAS based on Java applet and XML technology
Incidenti in adolescenza: studio empirico sull’impatto dell’evento traumatico nel funzionamento psicologico individuale
No full textLo studio indaga il funzionamento emotivo-adattivo e la presenza di sintomi dissociativi in un campione di adolescenti maschi (14-18 anni) che hanno sperimentato l’evento traumatico ‘incidente stardale’ (N=49) rispetto a soggetti di controllo che non hanno vissuto tale evento (N=49). A tale scopo sono sati utilizzati 2 questionari autosomminstrati: YSR e DES-II. I risultati mostrano che i ragazzi incidentati riportano punteggi medi significativamente più elevati nelle sottoscale: Problemi del pensiero, Problemi di attenzione, Comportamento deviante, Autodistruttività, Problemi esternalizzanti e Problemi totali YSR; presentano in oltre punteggi significativamente maggiori nelle sottoscale Derealizzazione/Depersonalizzazione della DES-II. Lo studio indica una relazione in adolescenza tra incidente stradale, dissociazione e problemi comportamentali
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Formal models and analysis of secure multicast in wired and wireless networks
Get PDFThe spreading of multicast technology enables the development of group communication and so dealing with digital streams becomes more and more common over the Internet. Given the flourishing of security threats, the distribution of streamed data must be equipped with sufficient security guarantees. To this aim, some architectures have been proposed, to supply the distribution of the stream with guarantees of, e.g., authenticity, integrity, and confidentiality of the digital contents. This paper shows a formal capability of capturing some features of secure multicast protocols. In particular, both the modeling and the analysis of some case studies are shown, starting from basic schemes for signing digital streams, passing through proto- cols dealing with packet loss and time-synchronization requirements, concluding with a secure distribution of a secret key. A process-algebraic framework will be exploited, equipped with schemata for analysing security properties and compositional principles for evaluating if a property is satisfied over a system with more than two components
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
