No full textNei secoli della tarda antichità le thermae continuarono a godere della medesima fortuna del periodo precedente e non pochi componimenti poetici testimoniano la costruzione, ancora nel V secolo e all’inizio del VI, di terme grandi e lussuose, e anche modeste e di piccole dimensioni; sia private sia pubbliche (anche come manifestazione di evergetismo). Il sorgere di stabilimenti di questa natura è rappresentato costantemente come evento che segna un cambia- mento in melius: migliorativo della salute dei visitatori e del territorio. Il segno dei tempi, tuttavia, si manifesta chiaro nell’assenza nei versus balnearum di qualunque elemento di oscenità e, al contrario, nel riferimento al pudor dei visitatori; anche da questo punto di vista, la tarda antichità si conferma età di passaggio: i secoli a venire, infatti, per motivazioni di natura diversa (dal venir meno delle infrastrutture imperiali, come gli acquedotti, che rese impossibile il funziona mento degli stabilimenti privi di sorgenti naturali; al diffondersi della religione e della morale cristiana) conobbero una declinazione del tutto differente dell’essere mutati in melius

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
