Effects of volcanic seismic events on the Stromboli stability by finite difference numerical modeling
No full textThe effect of seismic activities is one of the crucial issues that needs to be analyzed in evaluating the stability of a volcanic edifice. The seismicity can be related to tectonic activity or due to magma migration mechanisms. The aim of this work is to analyze the effects of seismic events associated to magma migration mechanisms on the stability of the Stromboli volcano flanks, coupling the dynamic analysis with the effects of the magma pressure in the feeding conduits. It was performed by two-dimensional finite difference numerical modeling (FLAC 5.0, Itasca). The dynamic input was applied on both sides of the magmatic conduit, extended vertically below the active crater zone. In accordance with the evidences provided by the geophysical data, the dynamic source has been located between 300 and 700 meters. The effects of the dynamic perturbation are analyzed in terms of displacements vectors, strain increments and pore pressure variations

No full textA detailed theoretical discussion is presented of the effect of colored noise on nonlinear dynamical systems. The ideas arising from it are applied to a particular example of such a system: a model of dispersive optical bistability, considered in the contexts of both additive and multiplicative forcing. Analogue experiments and digital simulation techniques are used to explore the applicability and range of validity of theories proposed to date. The physical phenomenon of bimodality induced by the finite bandwidth (alone) of additive forcing is demonstrated in detail for the first time. The three existing theories capable of accounting for this phenomenon can each be categorized in terms of a single (constant) value of a characteristic parameter Pexp; but it is shown that, in reality, Pexpt varies weakly with the correlation time tau of the noise. The variation of Pexp, with tau is investigated in the currently accessible range of O.1<tau<infinity

PAN/2/2004 on the 14 items that are observed. From thequestionnaire it was obtained that the highest average of services is on the ease of servicing requirementswith a value of 3.03. While the lowest average value of service is on the services equity which gain a score 2.95. For IKM value,it get 63 which places between 62.51-81.25. This score means that the performance of PDAM Tirta Alami Kepahiang is good

No full textCanadian author L.M. Montgomery did not set out to write stories about romance. As she indicated in her journals, she wrote character-driven stories of young girls navigating their way through girlhood. However, she understood that the public, and her publishers, expected these girls to experience romance that culminated in marriage, following the societal traditions of the time. Montgomery managed this dichotomy by having many characters experience a suspended romance, delaying the romantic aspect of the relationship for as long as possible. Arts-based practice is a mode of analysis and offers the opportunity to find a new way of understanding and communicating Montgomery's type of suspended romance. Music is, in many ways, considered romantic, so it is an appropriate medium to communicate Montgomery's romantic narrative structures. This paper investigates Montgomery's use of suspended romance in her novels and how this delay provided her characters with time to develop other areas of their lives. An arts-based methodology was used to identify and analyse recurring themes in Montgomery's work, as the question is not can Montgomery's theme of romance be musically represented but how. The result of this creative experimentation is a new musical composition that articulates these suspended romances using six different musical devices. This creative work exemplifies the intertextual link that exists between Montgomery's work and new musical compositions
