No full textIl volume raccoglie gli atti del convegno internazionale Tradizioni e Istituzioni religiose nello spazio culturale italo-romeno tra Medioevo e prima età moderna, tenutosi il 24-25 ottobre 2019 presso l’Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano. L’iniziativa si inserisce all’interno di un percorso di cooperazione storiografica italo-romena avviato dal prof. Ioan-Aurel Pop, Rettore dall’Università «Babeş-Bolyai» di Cluj-Napoca e Presidente dell’Accademia Romena, e dal prof. Massimo Miglio, Presidente dell’Istituto Storico Italiano per il Medioevo (ISIME). I saggi indagano – in una prospettiva comparata e transnazionale – i legami, le contiguità, i parallelismi tra la storia religiosa e culturale italiana e quella romena nel periodo che va dal tardo Medioevo ai primi secoli dell’Età Moderna. Tra i temi toccati spiccano i contatti tra il mondo cattolico italiano e la Transilvania nei secoli XIV e XV e le conseguenze dei concili ecumenici nello spazio transilvano; le istituzioni religiose in Transilvania e Moldavia nel Cinquecento, il diritto civile e canonico nella Transilvania del secolo XV, l’amministrazione della giustizia nella Transilvania settecentesca
Proximity measures between classification trees
No full textSeveral proximity measures have been proposed to compare classifications derived from different clustering algorithms. Few are the proposed solutions for the comparison of two classification trees. We have considered particularly two of these: one (Shannon and Banks, 1999) is a distance that measures the amount of rearrangement needed to change one of the trees so that they result in an identical structure, while the other (Miglio, 1996) is a similarity measure that compares the partitions associated to the trees taking into account their predictive power. In this paper we analyze features and limitations of these proximity measures and suggest a normalizing factor for the distance defined by Shannon and Banks; furthermore we propose a new dissimilarity measure that considers both the aspects explored separately by the previous ones

No full textE’ un nuovo capitolo di un progetto, concretizzatosi nel sito Donne e cultura scritta nel Medioevo, messo in rete nel settembre del 2000, che mira all’identificazione e alla descrizione di tutti i codici scritti da donne fino al XV secolo. Il sito elenca finora 222 manoscritti e 204 nomi, in gran parte di monache. Ad un panorama dello stato della ricerca segue la descrizione di cinque manoscritti monacensi (Munich, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, Cgm 851, 5139, 5235; Clm 10930, 283331) datati o databili al XIV-XV secolo e di uno più antico scritto da una scriba Abirhilt nella seconda metà dell’VIII secolo (Wu ̈rzburg, Universita ̈tsbibliothek, M. p. th. f. 45.)This is a new chapter of a survey aiming at identifying and describing all manuscripts written by women up to the fifteenth century. The site http://edu.let.unicas.it/womediev/ lists 222 manuscripts and 204 names, the overwhelming majority of which belonging to nuns. A general review of the state of the art is followed by the description of five German and Latin manuscripts (Munich, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, Cgm 851, 5139, 5235; Clm 10930, 283331), all dated or datable saec. XIV-XV, and a much older one (Wurzburg, Universitatsbibliothek, M. p. th. f. 45), written by a rather mysterious scribe Abirhilt somewhere in Germany during the second half of the eighth century
HOMELANDS IN TRANSLATION - INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL IN PROCIDA
No full textThe Summer School Homelands in Translation flows together with another event promoted by “L’Orientale” University and realized thanks to the partnership of the Universities of Halle - Oxford - Copenhagen and Federico II of Naples: a biennial summer school started two years ago in Halle that is going to be hosted by all the universities that are partners in this project.
This Summer School inquires issues related to the cultural translation of the concepts of homeland and nation. These are terms at a first look might seem to be based only to the different local identities and for this reason might be wrongly considered as untranslatable.
Translation is then the keyword: a term that includes a vast area of research and that is particularly rooted in the tradition of studies of University of Halle.
Studying translation means studying the migration of epistemic elements and normative systems as well as their relocation and reception in new contexts. That’s why Translation is a term that can’t be but very interesting to us all.
As for the content of this Summer School, there have been some theoretical studies such us translation and cultural identity, the concept of Heimat and intercultural problems today, the relationship between margins and centers, the concept of insularity, the center-periphery relations.
These have been followed by a series of meetings dedicated to specific aspects of the problem such us the concept of Heimat in Germany, the idea of homeland and nation in Italy and many distinctive features of different countries.
The main topics were: political space and mythical space, aspects of Islamic thought, Istanbul as a multilingual country; Uzbekistan between sovietism and tradition; the dialectic between traditional identities and contemporary identity in the Horn of Africa; the return of the concept of Heimat in the Former Central Europe; analysis of the “metaphysics of the homeland " in relation to the Jewish culture and its idea of its own uniqueness.
Many have been the references to the contemporary world: about migration, citizenship, and the so-called “travelling concepts”
