On more or less appropriate notions of 'Computation'

    No full text
Half a century after the emergence of computer science (a.k.a. informatics) as an academic discipline, the notion of ‘computation’ is not yet ‘settled’. On the contrary: recent developments in the natural sciences, in mathematics, as well as in computer hardware engineering have also ‘shaken’ the belief in the sufficiency of the ‘classical’ notion of ‘computation’ from the tradition of the Church-Turing-Hypothesis

A Combined Graph Schema and Graph Grammar Approach to Consistency in Distributed Data Modeling

    No full text
I am making this old paper (1999/2000) available here on "UPSpace" mainly because of historic interests. In this overview-paper, a specification method based on coupled graph grammars is sketched that is able to uniformly describe consistent domain configurations which distributed modeling as well as re-engineering tasks are based on. The specification method supports the development of proper (re)-design tools, and the method is tool-supported itself.Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), and the GETGRATS network.http://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007%2F3-540-45104-8_19mv201
