MATTER OF METHOD

We need to reflect on the teaching of Descriptive Geometry and contribute to the ways in which a Course of such discipline must be held.
The main aim of teaching D.G. lies in forming the student to acquire the ability to think in space. Therefore, to avoid that the Course, which must be set and taught in an educational sense, can be absorbed and thus returned in an informational sense, it must be avoided that the student learns only to draw graphic signs. Such a possibility stems from the fact that the soul of the main purpose is come out and it has remained the material structure of signs, probably mutilated. In other words, we must avoid that the topics (even few compared to the full picture of the discipline) are mainly and reductively learned as simple drawing tools.
To avoid this, you must follow the construction road of a spatial mentality alive and active of the architect student. Therefore, how is it possible to reach this goal? That’s possible through the construction and application of a method.
The word method, from the Greek méthodos (μέθοδος - chase, go back), means the set of processes that is used to achieve a purpose or a particular outcome. René Descartes, in his Discourse on the method, has paved the way allowing us to reach this goal.
In the second part of his work, the French philosopher lists four precepts or rules that must be followed and observed in order to arrive at the Truth.
As an example we consider a classical problem of the D.G.: the construction of an inclined plane in perspective given its angle of slope. Let’s try to follow and apply the four precepts dictated by Descartes
Babbling and first words in children with slow expressive development
No full textThis study examined early vocal production to assess whether it is possible to identify predictors of vocabulary development prior to the age point at which lexical delay is usually identified. Characteristics of babbling and first words in 12 Italian children with slow expressive development (late talkers; LT) were compared with those of 12 typically developing (TD) peers. Syllable structure and phonetic characteristics of babbling and first words produced by both groups of children at 20 months were analysed during mother-child play sessions. Results indicated that phonetic complexity and number of consonantal types were lower in the LT group. The two groups also differed in their use of sound classes and their syllable structure. Overall, it can be said that LTs development is similar to (but slower than) TDs, as opposed to having an atypical pattern of phonological development
Esperienze prospettiche a Cantalupo
No full textL’articolo presenta le attività svolte nell'ambito del workshop dal carattere divulgativo/operativo “Comunicazione visiva e valorizzazione culturale” in riferimento alla componente formativa relativa alla Geometria descrittiva. in particolare, è stato condotto il rilievo di alcuni episodi di prospettiva parietale e, più in generale di affreschi su superfici piane e curve, contestualmente al rilievo della struttura architettonica che i accoglie. Il lavoro condotto mirava a proporre un'esperienza completa – dalla documentazione all'analisi prospettica – in relazione alla pittura parietale e, in particolare, allo sfondato illusorio realizzato con gli strumenti della prospettiva.
Il workshop si è svolto a Cantalupo in Sabina nel giugno 2022 nel quadro delle attività di terza missione e in attuazione dell’accordo di collaborazione scientifica tra il dottorato in Storia, Disegno e Restauro dell’architettura – curriculum di Disegno e il comune di Cantalupo in Sabina
