Degraded Phenalene Metabolites In Eichhornia Crassipes

    No full text
Five naphthalenedicarboxylic acids have been isolated from the aquatic plant Eichhornia crassipes. The structures 1-5 have been attributed to their permethylated derivatives on the basis of their spectroscopic features. A biogenetic correlation to phenalenes is suggested. © 1993, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved

Two new lignan glucosides, namely (+)-lariciresinol 4′-O-β-D-glucopyranoside and (+)-lariciresinol 9-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, besides ferulic acid, coniferyl alcohol 4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, 4-coumaryl alcohol 4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, (+)-pinoresinol-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, (+)-syringaresinol-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, (+)-lariciresinol and (+)-lariciresinol 4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, have been isolated and characterized as peracetyl derivatives from Arum italicum. © 1993

    Lignans from Arum italicum

Two new 8-O-3′ neolignans and two new 8-O-4′ neolignan glucosides have been isolated from Arum italicum. The structures and the absolute configurations have been attributed on the basis of the physical data of the compounds and of their peracetylated derivatives. © 1994

Biotransformation of progesterone by the green alga Chlorella emersonii C211-8H

    No full text
2β-Hydroxyprogesterone, 6β-hydroxyprogesterone, 9α-hydroxyprogesterone, 14α-hydroxyprogesterone, 16α-hydroxyprogesterone and 21-hydroxyprogesterone are the main bioproducts in the progesterone bioconversion by axenic cultures of Chlorella emersonii C211-8h. After 30 days 6β,9α-dihydroxyprogesterone, 6β,21-dihydroxyprogesterone and 16α,21-dihydroxyprogesterone are also formed. In acid conditions the reaction is slower and 2β-hydroxyprogesterone and 16α-hydroxyprogesterone have not been found among the bioproducts. In hyperhaline conditions the yields are generally lower and testololactone is also formed. Copyright © 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved

    Stigmasterols from Typha latifolia

    No full text
Several free and acylglucosylated stigmasterols have been isolated from the aquatic plant Typha latifolia. The structures of three novel acylglucosylsterols have been assigned on the basis of spectroscopic data and by chemical modification studies. © 1990, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved
