No full textAn ion-selective electrode (ISE) for monohydrogen phosphate, based on a dispersion of Mg/Al hydrotalcite-
like compound particles into a polymeric membrane of polyvinyl butyral, in the coated-wire configuration,
is described. The inorganic ionophore was ad hoc synthesized and characterized. The electrode
showed a Nernstian response towards monohydrogen phosphate independently from the pH of the solution
in the range 4.5–7.8 with a linearity range from 5.0 10-5 to 2.0 10-2 M and a limit of detection of
3.0 10-5 M. The response time varied from 10 to 25 s. Potentiometric selectivity coefficients for the proposed
sensor were evaluated over several mono- and divalent anions, chosen among the most common
ones. The results pointed out a reasonably good selectivity for monohydrogen phosphate. A successful
application of the developed ISE for phosphate determination in hydroxyapatite samples using direct
potentiometry is presented
Exemplar-based Background Model lnitialization
No full textMost of the automated video-surveillance applications are based on background (BG) subtraction techniques, that aim at distinguishing moving objects in a static scene. These strategies strongly depend on the BG model, that has to be initialized and updated. A good initialization is crucial for the successive processing. In this paper, we propose a novel method for BG initialization and recovery, that merges interesting ideas coming from the video inpainting and the generative modelling subfields. The method takes as input a video sequence, in which several objects move in front of a stationary BG. Then, a statistical representation of the BG is iteratively built, discarding the moving objects in a fully automatic way. The method is based on the following hypotheses: (i) a portion of the BG, called sure BG, can be identified with high certainty by using only per-pixel reasoning and (ii) the remaining scene BG can be generated utilizing exemplars of the sure BG. The proposed algorithm is able to exploit these hypotheses in a principled and effective way

No full textThis paper describes a system that produces an object-based representation of a video shots composed by a background (still) mosaic and moving objects. Segmentation of moving objects is based on ego-motion compensation and on background modelling using tools from robust statistics. Region matching is carried out by an algorithm that operates on the Mahalanobis distance between region descriptors in two subsequent frames and uses Singular Value Decomposition to compute a set of correspondences satisfying both the principle of proximity and the principle of exclusion. The sequence is represented as a layered graph, and specific techniques are introduced to cope with crossing and occlusions

No full textEm arroz, são chamados especiais os tipos de grãos diferentes do padrão consumido pela população, que, no Brasil, é o arroz de pericarpo branco polido, tipo 1, com formato longo e fino, translúcido e que fica macio e solto após a cocção, conhecido vulgarmente como arroz agulhinha. Assim, são considerados tipos especiais de arroz os grãos pigmentados (como o arroz vermelho e o preto), os grãos aromáticos e os grãos de baixo teor de amilose, estes típicos das culinárias italiana, japonesa e portuguesa. Os tipos especiais também podem se caracterizar por atributos específicos e associados a uma região de origem, podendo ser citado como mais importante no aís o arroz vermelho ou Arroz da Terra, tradicionalmente cultivado há séculos pelos pequenos rodutores da região Semiárida do Nordeste brasileiro (COLOMBARI FILHO et al., 2018)
