ZEITSCHRIFT FUR NATURFORSCHUNG SECTION B-A JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL SCIENCES. 2001;56(4-5):443-445.The thermally highly unstable diethyl ether solvate of lithium chloride was crystallised and its crystal structure determined. It consists of a cubic cluster of the composition Li4Cl4 with each of the four Li atoms coordinated to a molecule of diethyl ether

Lustig C, Mitzel NW. Novel aluminium- and gallium-nitrogen heteronorbornanes. CHEMICAL COMMUNICATIONS. 2000;(15):1393-1394.Selective formation of 2,5-dialumina-3,6-diaza- and 2,5-digalla-3,6-diaza-norbornane is achieved by reaction of bis(lithiomethyl-methylamino)methane with dimethylaluminium and dimethylgallium chloride by simultaneous formation of two metal-carbon and two metal-nitrogen bonds accompanied by two ring closure reactions; the norbornane-basket structures are favoured over potential isomers containing three-membered rings and over polymeric aggregation

Mitzel NW, Lustig C. A hydrogen bonded aluminium alkoxide hydroxide aggregate resulting from the exposure of methylaluminium dichloride to air. ZEITSCHRIFT FUR NATURFORSCHUNG SECTION B-A JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL SCIENCES. 2003;58(5):489-492.Exposure of methylaluminium dichloride to air results in the formation of a crystalline hydrolysis/oxidation product of the composition [(MeOAlCl2)(3)][(MeOAlCl2)(2)(HOAlCl2)], which is linked by a H...Cl hydrogen bond in the solid state. Oxygen is thus inserted into the carbon-aluminium bond in the primary reaction, whereas hydrolysis plays only a minor role

PHOSPHORUS SULFUR AND SILICON AND THE RELATED ELEMENTS. Vol 168. GORDON BREACH PUBLISHING, TAYLOR & FRANCIS GROUP; 2001: 239-242.Selected examples of compounds which have units consisting of acceptor and donor centres in geminal position to one another are discussed with respect to their different types of aggregation, and the different nature of the interactions between these centres

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Lustig C, Mitzel NW. Crystal structures of the supramolecular aggregates of the methyl and chloro substituted gallanes MexGaCl3-x. ZEITSCHRIFT FUR NATURFORSCHUNG SECTION B-A JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL SCIENCES. 2004;59(2):140-147.The crystal structures of the complete series of compounds of the general formula MexGaCl3-x have been determined. New polymorphs of GaCl3 and MeGaCl2 were found. All chloro compounds MexGaCl3-x (x = 0, 1, 2) are dimers with Ga2Cl2 four-membered rings. (GaCl3)(2) and (MeGaCl2)(2) are aggregated into layers with the same aggregation motif (each molecule connected to four neighbouring molecules), (Me2GaCl)(2) is associated in a ladder-like structure (each molecule connected to two neighbouring molecules), GaMe3 forms weakly Ga (. . .) C bound pseudo-tetramers aggregated into layers by further Ga-. (.) (.) C contacts (each molecule has two shorter Ga (. . .) C' and C (. . .) Ga' and two weaker Ga (. . .) C' and C (. . .) Ga' contacts)
