Flow distribution and mixing performance of a novel multichannel heat exchanger reactor
Paper presented at the 9th International Conference on Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, Malta, 16-18 July, 2012.A multi-functional heat exchanger reactor (HEX) with 16 mini channels in parallel is designed, fabricated and tested. Two fluids are divided into 16 channels through distributor, then contacted at T-mixers, and finally collected. Both distributor and collector are designed following the arborescent shape. Expected advantage of using this mini HEX reactor include but not confined to: compact size, effective and fast mixing, low pressure drop, efficient and controlled heat remove/supply, easy numbering-up potential, safety, etc.
The internal fluid body is numerically analyzed using CFD approach (ANSYS Fluent) to test the flow distribution uniformity. Results show that for Reynolds number ranging from 8 to 95, good distribution uniformity (maldistribution less than 1.5 %) can be obtained. To test the mixing performance of the mini HEX reactor, Iodide-iodine reaction (Villermaux-Dushman) has been carried out. Experimental results show a good mixing at molecule scale as the flow rate increases and impingement enhanced. The design of multichannel reactor with arborescent distributing and collecting networks makes possible the numbering-up of multiple channels and thus the application of mini reactor in industry.dc201
2D fin field-effect transistors integrated with epitaxial high-k gate oxide
Precise integration of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors and high-dielectric-constant (k) gate oxides into three-dimensional (3D) vertical-architecture arrays holds promise for developing ultrascaled transistors1–5, but has proved challenging. Here we report the epitaxial synthesis of vertically aligned arrays of 2D fin-oxide heterostructures, a new class of 3D architecture in which high-mobility 2D semiconductor fin Bi2O2Se and single-crystal high-k gate oxide Bi2SeO5 are epitaxially integrated. These 2D fin-oxide epitaxial heterostructures have atomically flat interfaces and ultrathin fin thickness down to one unit cell (1.2 nm), achieving wafer-scale, site-specific and high-density growth of mono-oriented arrays. The as-fabricated 2D fin field-effect transistors (FinFETs) based on Bi2O2Se/Bi2SeO5 epitaxial heterostructures exhibit high electron mobility (μ) up to 270 cm2 V−1 s−1, ultralow off-state current (IOFF) down to about 1 pA μm−1, high on/off current ratios (ION/IOFF) up to 108 and high on-state current (ION) up to 830 μA μm−1 at 400-nm channel length, which meet the low-power specifications projected by the International Roadmap for Devices and Systems (IRDS)6. The 2D fin-oxide epitaxial heterostructures open up new avenues for the further extension of Moore’s law. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Limited.11Nsciescopu
Taxonomic revision of the genus Glochidion (Phyllanthaceae) in Taiwan, China
A comprehensive taxonomic revision of the genus Glochidion J.R. Forst. & G. Forst. from Taiwan in China was carried out based on the examination of herbarium specimens and filed investigations. Eight species and three varieties are recognized, including a new species endemic to Taiwan, G. lanyuense Gang Yao & S.X. Luo, which is described and illustrated. Three names, viz. G. chademenosocarpum Hayata, G. kusukusense Hayata, and G. ovalifolium F.Y. Lu & Y.S. Hsu, are reduced to the new synonyms of G. rubrum Blume, G. lanceolatum Hayata, and G. ellipticum Wight, respectively. Two names, viz. G. lanceolatum Hayata and G. suishaense Hayata, are lectotypified here. A key to the Glochidion species in Taiwan is provided

Study on Spatial-Temporal Evolution Law of Green Land Use Efficiency in Resource-Based Cities
Currently, urban land use in China faces many challenges, such as irrational land use structure and inefficiency, which is especially obvious in resource-based cities. In order to improve this situation, this paper uses the super-efficient Slack-Based Measure (SBM) model to measure the green land use efficiency (GLUE) of 113 resource-based cities in China, analyzes its spatial-temporal evolution law, and identifies the formation law of heterogeneous GLUE in resource-based cities using the Tobit model. The research results show that: (1) GLUE in resource-based cities shows year-on-year growth and has certain stage characteristics, in which the eastern region is the best, followed by the western and central regions, and the northeastern region is the worst; regenerative cities are significantly better than mature, growth, and declining cities; oil and gas cities are better than non-metal, forest, metal, and coal cities in turn; (2) High-value resource-based cities are concentrated in the eastern and western regions, while low-value ones are concentrated in the central and northeastern regions. Moreover, the number of high-value resource-based cities is continuously increasing, while the number of low-value ones is significantly decreasing; (3) The level of economic development, industrial structure, level of technological input, number of green patents granted, government financial support, sewage treatment rate, and policy constraints all exhibit significant positive effects on the GLUE of resource-based cities. Furthermore, there is notable heterogeneity among resource-based cities in different regions, development stages, and resource types. In the future, policies should be implemented on a city-by-city basis, and a sound long-term mechanism for policy implementation should be established to enhance the long-term awareness of managers and land users so as to improve the GLUE in resource-based cities
