Giles, Luisa
Luisa has been a faculty member in the Kinesiology Department since 2020. Previously, Luisa was a faculty member in the Department of Sport Science at Douglas College and taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU).
Luisa earned her doctorate degree from UBC where her research focused on the interactions of exercise and the environment on cardio-respiratory health/physiology. Specifically, Luisa focused on the health effects of exercising in air pollution and, during this time, she worked with healthy populations, elite athletes, and clinical populations.CEP, A342

Luisa has degrees from the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she was a Fulbright Fellow from 1992-1995. Luisa teaches in and currently directs the MFA Creative Writing Program at Old Dominion University

Luisa Igloria, 28th Annual ODU Literary Festival
Luisa Igloria (previously published as Maria Luisa A. Carino) is the author of six books, four of which received the National Book Award from the Manila Critics’ Circle: Blood Sacrifice (University of the Philippines Press, 1998); Encanto (Anvil, 1994); Cartography (Anvil, 1992); and Cordillera Tales (New Day, 1990). She is also the author of In the Garden of the Three Islands (Moyer Bell/Asphodel, 1995), and the editor of Not Home, But Here: Writing from the Filipino Diaspora (Anvil, 2003). Her seventh and most recent book is Trill & Mordent (WordTech Editions, 2005), a runner-up for the 2004 Editions Prize. Igloria’s work has appeared in numerous national and international journals; she has received prestigious honors that include the 2004 Fugue Poetry Award, Finalist for the 2004 Larry Levis Editors Prize for Poetry, and Finalist for the 2003 Dorset Prize (Tupelo Press). She has received fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation, the Hawthornden Castle in Scotland, and to the Summer Literary Seminars in St. Petersburg, Russia. Igloria is an associate professor on the faculty of ODU’s Creative Writing Program

Luisa Ponzi Interview
This interview is an oral history conducted by Linfield College archivist Rich Schmidt with Luisa Ponzi of Ponzi Vineyards. The interview took place at Ponzi Vineyards in Sherwood, Oregon on September 15, 2017.
Luisa Ponzi is the winemaker and a second-generation owner at Ponzi Vineyards. In this interview, she discusses growing up in the family business, leaving and then finding her way back to wine, and eventually taking on the role of winemaker from her father. Ponzi also talks about the rapid growth of the winery and advice for someone wanting to join the industry
