Regions, multi-level citizens and welfare development
This paper elaborates on the idea of multi-level citizenship as a ‘civility compound’ of collective attachments which favours democratic subsidiarization and the implementation of social policies. It focuses also on the aspirations of regions to carry out welfare expansion based upon arguments of optimality, accountability, legitimacy, partnership and recalibration. After a brief conceptual review, this paper regards the
emergence of ‘new social risks’ (NSR) as providing to sub-state political communities with opportunities for welfare development, concerning primarily activation, social assistance, care services and policy closure of ‘safety nets’. Final remarks put forward the idea that the advancement of social citizenship in Europe may be best achieved if the virtuous circle of emulation is encouraged among and within member states (policy
learning, ‘soft’ regulation, or ‘best practices’).Peer reviewe
Cretaceous sea level rise : down memory lane and the road ahead /
Cretaceous Sea Level Rise delves into the question of whether the observed short-term sea-level changes are regional (tectonic) or global (eustatic) and determines their possible relation to climate cycles; to assess the role of feedback mechanisms, i.e. thermal expansion/contraction of seawater, subsidence due to loading by water, changing vegetation of the Earth System and to investigate the relation of sea-level highs and lows to ocean anoxia and oxidation events, represented by black shales and oceanic red beds, and to evaluate the evidence for ephemeral glacial episodes or other climate events. Though research has been, and is being, conducted in these fields since the introduction of sea level cycles and sequence development concepts in the 1970"s, the available information is scattered. Cretaceous Sea Level Rise presents the current understanding and future directions of the research on Cretaceous sea level cycles in a single source, forming a reference work for beginners, graduates and postgraduates who are interested in this subject.Includes bibliographical references.Online resource; title from PDF title page (EBSCO, viewed November 24, 2015).Cretaceous Sea Level Rise delves into the question of whether the observed short-term sea-level changes are regional (tectonic) or global (eustatic) and determines their possible relation to climate cycles; to assess the role of feedback mechanisms, i.e. thermal expansion/contraction of seawater, subsidence due to loading by water, changing vegetation of the Earth System and to investigate the relation of sea-level highs and lows to ocean anoxia and oxidation events, represented by black shales and oceanic red beds, and to evaluate the evidence for ephemeral glacial episodes or other climate events.

Creating author-level statistics dashboards in the EPrints repository at QUT
This presentation shows how QUT’s institutional repository (QUT ePrints) delivers value to authors by collating their their publications on a ‘Browse by person’ view and by linking this view to a statistics dashboard which aggregates and graphs the citation and download data. The author can also export their download and citation data in CSV format for further analysis or to create visualisations for a subset of their works. QUT ePrints provides a range of other usage and attention metrics which can help the author craft a narrative about their research impact. \ud

This book presents the results of the research "Sustainability in MyPymes, an evaluation model at Latin American level", funded by the Luis Amigó Catholic University and the company Etipyme S.A.S., whose development allowed to design an initial diagnostic instrument of sustainability from the particularity of each organization, giving useful information that facilitates decision making in relation to the environmental, social and economic.
An optimization framework for solving capacitated multi-level lot-sizing problems with backlogging
This paper proposes two new mixed integer programming models for capacitated multi-level lot-sizing problems with backlogging, whose linear programming relaxations provide good lower bounds on the optimal solution value. We show that both of these strong formulations yield the same lower bounds. In addition to these theoretical results, we propose a new, effective optimization framework that achieves high quality solutions in reasonable computational time. Computational results show that the proposed optimization framework is superior to other well-known approaches on several important performance dimensions
