No full textL’articolo discute le interpretazioni finora avanzate dell’uso delle lettere ΟΥ (forse come legatura ᴕ) in Auson. epigr. 87, 12, in un componimento che descrive l’attività di Euno, cunnilingus e maestro, attraverso l’alfabeto greco. Evidenziate le difficoltà dell’ipotesi di Adams, secondo cui il simbolo indicherebbe le corna del toro, si propone di spiegare ΟΥ come abbreviazione ‘filologica’ per οὕτως, coerentemente con l’impiego di Θ (v. 13), insieme segno critico e simbolo di morte.This paper discusses the hitherto proposed interpretations of the use of the letters ΟΥ (possibly as the ligature ᴕ) in Auson. epigr. 87, 12, in a poem which describes cunnilingus and teacher Eunus’ activity by means of the Greek alphabet. After highlighting the difficulties of Adams’ hypothesis that the symbol indicates bull horns, it is suggested that ΟΥ be explained as the ‘philological’ abbreviation of οὕτως, in line with the use of Θ (l. 13), both text-critical sign and symbol of death

Informal Urban Biodiversity in the Milan Metropolitan Area: The Role of Spontaneous Nature in the Leftover Regeneration Process
No full textThe present study reflects on spontaneous nature's agency to reclaim abandoned urban areas in Italian urban brownfields, providing a focused analysis of the Metropolitan Area of Milan. These spaces are the products of phenomena, such as deindustrialization, demilitarization, and uncontrolled urban expansion, which have produced a compromised heritage and challenges to regeneration. Such abandonment sometimes produces new forms of urban nature, which suggests a possible path for ecological regeneration and coexistence, as affirmed by the multidisciplinary literature. The related informal urban biodiversity grows regardless of future planning provisions, triggering unexpected transformations of the urban environment and producing socio-ecological value, as demonstrated by citizens' recognition of these places. The present study maps informal urban biodiversity in the Milan territory, identifying the presence of large contaminated sites, relevant urban voids, vacant lots, and former agricultural spaces. This study also reflects on possible paths for urban planning and policies to integrate informal urban biodiversity within the urban ecological structure by analyzing the main features and challenges of the corresponding regeneration processes

A novel technique for the measurement of the electron neutrino cross section
No full textAbsolute neutrino cross section measurements are presently limited by uncertainties on fluxes. In this paper, we propose a technique that is based on the reconstruction of large angle positrons in the decay tunnel to identify three-body semileptonic decays. This tagging facility operated in positron counting mode (“event count mode”) can be employed to determine the absolute flux at the neutrino detector with precision. Facilities operated in “event by event tag mode” i.e. tagged neutrino beams that exploit the time coincidence of the positron at source and the interaction at the detector, are also discussed
