John Lubrano
Full text linkStarting in 1979, Lubrano worked with Myers primarily on his collection of scores of instrumental and choral parts of music. Myers had interest in some specific British composers but also enjoyed discovering others. Lubrano tells the story of a 1744 manuscript book by an American composer Peter Pelham and that Myers may have donated it to Colonial Williamsburg. Lubrano does not characterized Myers as a collector-seller; he was an academic collector, preferring content over individual prizes. He believes Myers wanted a mass of a material that could tell a story in aggregate and may have represented him at auctions. Lubrano relates a story of helping Myers find parts of Vivaldi scores and comments on why they might have been of interest to Myers

The Tradeoff Between Growth and Redistribution: ELIE in an Overlapping Generations Model
Full text linkThe ELIE scheme of Kolm taxes labour capacities instead of labour income in order to circumvent the distortionary effect of taxation on labour supply. Still, Kolm does not study the impact of ELIE on human capital formation and investment. In this paper, we build an overlapping generations (OLG) model with heterogenous agents and endogenous growth driven by investment in human capital. We study the effect of ELIE on education investment and other aggregate economic variables. Calibrating the model to French data, we highlight a tradeoff between growth and redistribution. With a perfect credit market, ELIE is successful in reducing inequalities and poverty, but it is at the expense of lower investment in education and slower growth. In an economy with an imperfect credit market where individuals cannot borrow to educate, the tradeoff between growth and redistribution is not overturned but is less severe. However, it is possible to overturn completely that trade-off simply by changing the base of taxation for the young generation which is equivalent to subsidising education.Education, Growth, Redistribution, Kolm

No full textLa possibilità di intervenire all’interno di un’area archeologica costituisce, di per sé, un fatto eccezionale, sia per la possibilità di un confronto diretto con tracciati, misure, frammenti di testimonianze del passato che necessitano di essere adeguatamente conservati, sia perché questi possono rappresentare fatti architettonici e urbani capaci di produrre riflessioni ancora valide per la costruzione della città contemporanea. L’interpretazione di questi segni di un tempo perduto, impressi in un territorio come quello di Τυνδαρίς dove la natura sembra dilagare sovrapponendosi agli oggetti archeologici, reimpossessandosi del sito fino a ricondurlo ad una condizione di “paesaggio originario”, diventa quasi attitudine visionaria, immaginifica. Si produce cosi, già solo pensando a cosa abbiano rappresentato questi resti, quella capacità di invenzione così propria del progettare, così necessaria acciocché gli interventi non si riducano alla sola conservazione di labili tracce ma siano capaci di rivelare tanto il carattere del preesistente quanto i suoi possibili sviluppi. Ci troviamo, a tutti gli effetti, di fronte ad un’apparizione, in un ambito dove la città nascosta, presente solo in filigrana, trasforma l’intervento su di essa nella risoluzione di una sorta di enigma i cui esiti possono essere così, finalmente, rivelati ai futuri visitatori dell’area
