    Let Q be a factor of type II1, λ a number in the Jones discrete series {4cosπ/m:m≥3}, and {ei} the Jones projections associated with λ. Denote by A2n and A1n the finite-dimensional von Neumann algebras generated, respectively, by {1,e2,⋯,en} and {1,e1,⋯,en}, with the corresponding traces. The author shows that, for n sufficiently large, the index of the inclusion An=(Q⊗A2n)∗A2nA1n⊂(Q⊗A2n+1)∗A2n+1A1n+1=An+1 is equal to λ (here ∗ denotes the reduced, amalgamated free product of the algebras in question). Using the random matrix model of Voiculescu, he proves that if Q is the von Neumann algebra L(F∞) of the free group with infinitely many generators, then An is isomorphic to L(F∞). The two facts together imply the existence, for any λ in the Jones discrete series, of an irreducible subfactor of L(F∞) of index λ. This constitutes the first example of a nonhyperfinite, non-Γ II1 factor such that its Jones invariant is fully computable (the existence of nonirreducible subfactors of L(F∞) for any index ≥4 is a simple consequence of known results)

Yap lan analizler sonucunda meyve geni li i, iç meyve uzunlu u, iç meyve geni li i, iç meyve kal nl , meyve a rl , iç a rl ve kabuk kal nl de erlerinde konvansiyonel örneklerin daha yüksek de erlere sahip oldu u görülmü tür. Meyve uzunlu u, meyve kal nl , göbek bo lu u, rand man, sa lam iç oran ve kusurlu iç oranlar nda uygulamalar aras nda fark tespit edilmemi tir.In recent years, the relationship between nutrition and health has been clearly presented in the light of scientific studies. Recently, consumers have been demanding for healthier foods; therefore, organic (ecological) agriculture and organic food applications have emerged to meet this demand. Organic hazelnut production has limited and its agriculture tends to increase gradually in recent years. In this study, various pomological analyses were carried out on samples belonging to Tombul, Fo a, Sivri, çak ldak, Mincane and Palaz varieties of commercial importance grown in the Black Sea Region of Turkey (Trabzon, Ordu, Samsun and Düzce cities) where organic and conventional hazelnut production was located. Results indicated that conventional samples had higher values in terms of nut width, kernel length, kernel width, kernel thickness, nut weight, kernel weight and shell thickness values. There was no difference in nut length, nut thickness, internal cavity, kernel percentage, good kernels and the rate of defected kernel between two types of hazelnuts

    Bu çal mada, akci er tümörleri nedeniyle radyoterapiye (RT) maruz kalan kanser hastalar n n periferal kan örneklerindeki morfolojik hasarlar ve mikronukleus (MN) s kl n belirlemeye çal t k. Bu amaçla, in vivo kümülatif doz-etki ili kisini kulland k ve bu verileri istatistiksel parametreler ile ili kilendirdik. Sitolojik analizler, ? radyasyonuna maruz kalan hastalar n beyaz kan hücrelerinde (WBC) gerçekle tirildi. MN testi, radyasyon hasar n n bir belirteci olarak kullan ld . Ayr ca, sigara al kanl ve ya gibi farkl faktörlerin etkileride MN testi kullan larak ara t r ld . MN say m , tek nükleuslu lenfositlerde gerçekle tirildi. WBC'nin say s ve morfolojik özelliklerini belirlemek amac yla periferal kan yayma preparatlar haz rland . Sonuçlar, ? radyasyonuna maruz kalan kanser hastalar n n WBC'deki MN s kl ve morfolojik hasarlar n, kontrol grubundakilerden oldukça yüksek oldu unu gösterdi ve fark istatistiksel olarak önemliydi (P0.01). WBC'de voküolizasyon, membran kusurlar ve sitoplazmik granülasyonda art gibi morfolojik de i meler belirlendi. Ayr ca, radyasyon dozuna ba l olarak MN s kl nda bir art ve WBC'nin say s nda ise bir azalma gözlendi. Sonuç olarak, morfolojik hasarlar ve MN s kl n n, RT 'nin etkilerini ara t rmak için çok hassas ve kullan l biyolojik belirteçler oldu u gösterildi.In this study, we tried to define the frequency of micronuclei (MN) and morphological damages in peripheral blood samples of cancer patients exposed to radiotherapy (RT) for lung tumors. For this purpose, we used in vivo cumulative dose-effect relationship, and correlated these data with statistical parameters. Cytological analyses were performed on white blood cells (WBC) of patients exposed to ? radiation. MN assay was used as a biomarker of radiation damage. Besides, the effect of different factors like smoking status and age was investigated by MN assay. Scoring of MN was performed on mononucleated lymphocytes. Peripheral blood smears were prepared for morphological characterization and the number of WBC. The results indicated that, morphological damages and MN frequency in WBC were significantly higher in cancer patients exposed to ? radiation than in the controls, and difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). The morphological changes such as vacuolization, membrane defects and increase in cytoplasmic granulation were detected in WBC. Moreover, an increase in the frequency of MN and a decrease in the numbers of WBC were observed depending on radiation dose. In conclusion, it was showed that morphological damages and MN frequency are very sensitive and useful biomarkers for the investigation of the effects of RT

    Lu-177g produced with high specific activity by deuteron irradiation for metabolic radiotherapy

    Lu-177g is a low energy negatron emitter that, thanks to its favourable decay properties (t(1/2) = 6.734 d, negatron emission 100 %, E(β,max) = 489.3 keV, = 163 keV, Eγ = 208.4 keV), is one of the most promising radionuclide to be used in nuclear medicine, especially in metabolic radiotherapy of cancer of small dimensions. This RN is mainly produced in thermal nuclear reactor in two different ways: the first in carrier added (CA) form by (n,γ) reaction on enriched target of Lu-176 leading to a lower specific activity (AS), compared with the theoretical carrier free value AS(CF) = 4.05 GBq•μg^-1, the second in no carrier added (NCA) form by (n,γ) reaction on enriched target of Yb-176 followed by negatron decay leading, after selective separation of Lu from Yb, to a higher AS. This latter case shows no evidence of production of the long-lived impurity Lu-177m. An alternative method is to produce Lu-177 by the deuteron activation of natural or enriched in 176Yb targets. In this case, the routes of interest are the indirect reaction Yb-176(d,p)Yb-177 that decays by negatron emission to Lu-177g and the direct reaction Yb-176(d,n)Lu-177(g+m). In order to optimize the Lu-177g production the thin target yields (ttys) of the nuclear reactions involved were measured as a function of the projectiles energy by the stacked-foil technique irradiating Yb targets of natural composition at the MC40 cyclotron of the JRC, Ispra, Italy, that can deliver deuterons with energies up to 19 MeV. The measurements, done at the radiochemistry laboratory of LASA by high resolution gamma spectrometry (HPGe detectors), were started few hours from the EOB (end of bombardment) and were carried on for many months, till more than one year, after the irradiation. The excitation functions of all radionuclides produced were measured and compared with the data, if present, published in the unique previous literature publication. It was determined the decay curve of Yb-177 and the growth curve of the cumulative (direct and indirect) production of Lu-177g. The analysis of these curves conduct to the evidence that the predominant route for the production of Lu-177g is the indirect reaction Yb-176(d,p)Yb-177, that decays to Lu-177g. The direct reaction Yb-176(d,n)Lu-177(g+m) is observable only above 13 MeV and contributes for only 4% of the total in correspondence of 14.6 MeV. In the spectra acquired one year from the EOB the γ lines of Lu-177m are not presented. By detection limit method the activity of Lu-177m at the EOB is been evaluated, in the worst case, less than 0.07% of total activity of Lu-177. The production of Lu-117g by deuteron irradiation of Yb targets will be competitive with neutron activation. The deuteron activation for 12 hours of a thick target of Yb-176 (100% enriched) with E(in) = 12.5 MeV, ΔE = 10.0 MeV, I = 100 μA can produce up to 10 GBq of cumulative Lu-177g
