Cummings (October 14, 1894 – September 3, 1962), often styled as e e cummings, as he sometimes signed his name, was an American poet, painter, essayist, author, and playwright. He wrote approximately 2900 poems, two autobiographical novels, four plays, and several essays. This undated recording captures cummings during his visit to Eastern Michigan University.     Edward Estlin Cummings is one of the most prolific American poets of the 21st century, therefore there are many reviews written regarding his work. Some of these reviews are in favor; nevertheless, like all poets, he has his share of negative criticism as well. The article with the title “E.E. Cummings” on “The Poetry Foundation” displays varied points of view made by numerous critics related to the works of Edward Estlin Cummings including the criticisms of Norman Friedman and Jenny Penberthy. This extended essay deals with the accuracy of the two criticisms made by the aforementioned critics in terms of the extent that they can be applied to in four of Cummings’ poems. The first section of this research is an introduction to the origin of the research question as well as the research question “To what do Norman Friedman’s and Jenny Penberthy’s criticisms apply to E.E. Cummings’ poems?”. The remaining parts try to justify the reasons for support or refusal of the claims put forth by Norman Friedman and Jenny Penberthy through the analysis of four of Cummings’ poems which are, with their respective analysis order, “i carry your heart with me”, “anyone lived in a pretty how town”, “i thank You God for this most amazing” and “somewhere i have never travelled gladly beyond”. Furthermore, the conclusion will put forth the justifiability of the two criticisms and give concluding remarks as to why the criticisms are accurate or irrelevant based on the analysis of each poem

    Excited neutrinos at the next linear colliders

    The possibility of single and pair excited neutrino production in high energy e+e-, gamma-e and gamma-gamma collisions on linear colliders is studied. The integrated cross sections of these subproceses are calculated. Special attention is paid to search for excited neutrino in e-gamma --> W- W+ e process. Lower limits for the compositeness parameter estimated which will be available on the experiments at VLEPP, SLAC, JLC and DESY future linear colliders

    Role of advection in Arctic Ocean lower trophic dynamics: a modelling perspective

    The Arctic Ocean (AO) is an oligotrophic system with a pronounced subsurface Chl-a maximum dominating productivity over the majority of the basin. Strong haline stratification of the AO and substantial ice cover suppress vertical mixing and restrict the vertical supply of nutrients to the photic zone. In such a vertically stratified oligotrophic system, the horizontal supply of nutrients by advection plays an important role in sustaining primary production. In this paper we attempt to characterise the role of nutrient advection in the maintenance of the subsurface Chl-a maximum, using time scales to determine the connectivity between the photic zone of the deep Arctic Ocean, nutrient-rich Pacific and Atlantic inflow waters, and bottom waters of the wide continental shelves of the AO. Our study uses output from a general circulation model, NEMO, coupled to a model of ocean biogeochemistry, MEDUSA. A Lagrangian particle tracking approach is used to back-track water from where it forms subsurface Chl-a maxima to the points of entry into the AO and to analyse nutrient transformation along the route. Our experiments show that advective timescales linking subsurface layers of the central AO with the nutrient rich Pacific and Atlantic waters do not exceed 15-20 years, and that the advective supply of shelf nutrients to the deep AO occurs on the timescale of about 5 years. We show substantial role of the continental shelf pump in sustaining up to 20% of total AO primary production

    Theory of music learning, according to Gordon, is mostly directed at teachers. The text aims at showing the aspect of the application of research on E. E. Gordon’s theory into early music education teacher’s professional training. The author recognises the importance of shaping research competences of future teachers as they help students use not only practical (pedagogical), but also methodological and empirical work of E.E. Gordon’s theory. The text presents the reports from research on the application of E.E. Gordon’s Theory of Music Learning, carried out by students of early school and music education. It is important to emphasise the fact that research has been conducted according to Gordon’s procedures. Researching the application of theory of music learning refers to its selected elements within the range of application of research problems, theoretical implications and selected diagnostics solutions in music education (also E.E. Gordon’s tools). The main idea of the text revolves around more and more popular aspect of making university and teachers training relations very practical (both formal and informal). Such expectations are taken into consideration in Muzopolis project described in this text.     Physical conditions controlling the development of a regular phytoplankton bloom north of the Crozet Plateau, Southern Ocean

    A phytoplankton bloom occurs north of the Crozet Plateau annually from September to January. The area, bounded to the north by the Sub-Antarctic Front, is the most northerly of the areas of regular high productivity in the otherwise high-nutrient low-chlorophyll Southern Ocean. Chlorophyll concentrations are at background values to the south and only slightly enhanced over the shallow plateau, producing three contrasting productivity regimes. The CROZet natural iron bloom and EXport experiment (CROZEX) project was aimed at testing the hypothesis that the bloom is caused by natural iron fertilisation from the sediments and islands of the Crozet Plateau. In this paper, the temporal and spatial progression of the bloom and the contrasting productivity regimes are investigated using SeaWiFS and MODIS chlorophyll-a (chl-a), photosynthetically available radiation (PAR) from SeaWiFS, QuikSCAT wind-stress data, Argo float profiles and data from three research cruises to the region. Comparison of satellite chl-a data against in situ measurements showed that the satellite data were lower by a factor of approximately 2. Iron, light and grazing are all important in explaining the different productivity regimes. To the north, light is dominant in controlling the timing and location of the bloom initiation, but the spatial distribution of the peak chl-a values obtained through the season is associated with the flow pattern and their proximity to the plateau and so are likely driven by nutrient availability. Mixed-layer depths in Argo float density profiles show a shallowing of the mixed-layer depth to the north of 10.8±1.0 m degree?1 across the study area. This gradient, together with a latitudinal gradient in PAR, is sufficient to explain the observed spatial progression of the bloom

    Olga Tokarczuk’s novel E.E. apart from the fact that it is the story of a 15-year-old girl with mediumistic abilities and her family is also affacted by the issue of corporeality. Especially inspiring, valuable cognitively and imoprtant from a perspective of this article seem to be the corporeality presentation of two main characters – Erna Eltzner and her mother. This article containing an in-deph reflection on the issue of corporeality of Olga Tokarczuk’s novel. The aim of the work is to analyze and interpret showed by Tokarczuk images of corporeality related to psychic and personality domain of the main characters. The main thesis is the assumption that corporeality is essential for the novel about the fate of Erna Eltzner. The aim is to look and subject the interpretation of the presented by Tokarczuk depiction of corporeality, capturing its function, reflection on the cosequences of the used way of imagery as well as to analyze what is the connection between the corporeality of the main character and gaining by her identity and independence. The methodology adopted in the project is based on the elements of Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s theory as well as the conception of somatopoetics by Anna Łebkowska. The essay’s author on the basis of somatopoetics theory brings us closer the functioning of the body as an interpretive category not just as a subject of literaturę, as well as using the tools created by somatopoetics examines various aspects of the manifestation of the category of corporeality in the novel
