Gas volume fraction and velocity profiles: vertical and inclined bubbly air-water flows
No full textUpward inclined gas-liquid flows are frequently encountered in the oil industry and data relating to the local gas volume fraction distribution and the local gas velocity distribution is important, for example, in pressure gradient prediction and in modeling oil well 'blowouts'. In this paper measurements are presented of the local gas volume fraction distribution and the local axial gas velocity distribution which were taken in bubbly air-water flows in an 80 mm diameter pipe which was inclined at angles of 0°, 15° and 30° to the vertical. Qualitative arguments are presented to explain the influence of the liquid superficial velocity on the local gas volume fraction distribution in inclined flow and also to explain the very high axial gas velocities observed towards the upper side of the inclined pipe
The engineers from Minas Gerais in the context of national industrialization: the contributions of Lucas Lopes (1930-1960)
No full textEste trabalho busca identificar as principais contribuições dos engenheiros mineiros no processo de industrialização regional, com foco na trajetória de Lucas Lopes, visto como fruto da reformulação da burocracia pública pós 1930 e representando de forma concreta a figura do engenheiro de Minas Gerais que se tornou um dos principais planejadores da industrialização nacional. Dessa forma, faz parte dos objetivos desse trabalho analisar de maneira integrada as condições que fortaleceram a inserção dos engenheiros mineiros no setor público, identificar o início desse processo em Minas Gerais a partir da participação do Estado modernizante e desenvolvimentista na economia, diante das particularidades históricas da indústria mineira. O método utilizado consiste na pesquisa bibliográfica sobre as particularidades e percalços da indústria mineira entre os séculos XIX e XX, presentes em obras como de Diniz (1978) e Paula (2001), os trabalhos que tratam sobre os engenheiros de Minas Gerais como em Barbosa (2012) e suas instituições de formação, especialmente a EMOP, apresentada por Carvalho (2010). No caso do estudo sobre Lucas Lopes, a análise integra referencias que tratam sobre sua trajetória profissional e pensamento econômico, como em Rodrigo Lopes (2006) e Fernanda Araújo (2010), e no estudo de documentos referentes a seus projetos, como o “Plano de Eletrificação de Minas Gerais” e “Memórias sobre a Mudança da Capital Federal”. Uma das principais considerações obtidas dessa análise, consiste na identificação de que os engenheiros inseridos na burocracia pública tiveram a característica de circulação entre a esfera pública e a esfera dos interesses privados do período que levaram a um objetivo em comum de romper com o atraso econômico relativo da região, a partir da elaboração de projetos voltados a modernização produtiva. Esse espaço ganho pelos engenheiros foi possível com o apoio dos diferentes governos que dirigiram o estado entre 1930 e 1950 e a organização desses projetos. Lucas Lopes, por sua vez, foi a expressão concreta do engenheiro mineiro inserido no setor público que demonstrou aspectos do pensamento desenvolvimentista a partir da década de 1930, colaborando no planejamento do avanço do setor energético da região. Sua trajetória, em especial, evoluiu do setor público estadual para o federal, entre os anos de 1940 e 1950. Tal experiência determinou seu pensamento econômico inserido em seus projetos voltados ao desenvolvimento industrial brasileiro e sua visão particular em relação a ideologia nacionalista daquele período, defendendo o capital estrangeiro para maior produtividade industrial, além de ter demonstrado defesa a uma política ortodoxa para conter a crise inflacionária, a partir da elaboração do Plano de Estabilização Monetária, em 1958This paper seeks to identify the main contributions of engineers from Minas Gerais in the regional industrialization process, focusing on the trajectory of Lucas Lopes, seen as the fruit of the reformulation of public bureaucracy after 1930 and representing in a concrete way the figure of the engineer from Minas Gerais who became one of the main planners of national industrialization. Thus, it is part of the objectives of this work to analyze, in an integrated manner, the conditions that strengthened the insertion of Minas Gerais engineers in the public sector, to identify the beginning of this process in Minas Gerais from the participation of the modernizing and developmentalist State in the economy, given the historical particularities of Minas Gerais' industry. In addition, it was sought to examine in a deeper way the trajectory of Lucas Lopes, inserted into the public sector from the 1940s. The method used consists of bibliographical research on the peculiarities and mishaps of the Minas Gerais industry between the 19th and 20th centuries, present in works such as Diniz (1978) and Paula (2001), the works that deal with the engineers of Minas Gerais as in Barbosa (2012) and their training institutions, especially EMOP, presented by Carvalho (2010). In the case of the study about Lucas Lopes, the analysis integrates references that deal with his professional career and economic thought, as in Rodrigo Lopes (2006) and Fernanda Araújo (2010), and in the study of some documents of his projects, as the "Electrification Plan of Minas Gerais" and "Memoirs about the Change of the Federal Capital''. One of the main considerations obtained from this analysis is the identification that engineers inserted in the public bureaucracy had the characteristic of circulation between the public sphere and the sphere of private interests of the period, which led to a common objective of breaking with the relative economic backwardness. region, from the elaboration of projects aimed at productive modernization. However, this space gained by the engineers was made possible with the support of the different governments that passed through the state between 1930 and 1950 and the organization of these projects. Lucas Lopes, in turn, was the concrete expression of the Minas Gerais engineer inserted in the public sector who demon-strated aspects of developmental thinking from the 1930s, collaborating in planning the ad-vancement of the region's energy sector. His trajectory evolved from the state to the federal public sector, between the 1940s and 1950s. This experience determined his economic thinking inserted in his projects aimed at Brazilian industrial development and his vision in relation to the nationalist ideology of that period, defending foreign capital for greater industrial produc-tivity, in addition to having demonstrated defense of an orthodox policy to contain the infla-tionary crisis, from the elaboration of the Monetary Stabilization Plan, in 1958.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)88882.430504/2019-0

No full textIn der Dissertation „Lucas Geizkoflers De miseriis studiosorum declamatio (1576). Einleitung, Text, Übersetzung und Kommentar“ wird der neulateinische Text eines Südtiroler Autors ediert. Die Einleitung nimmt zunächst Lucas Geizkoflers Leben und Werk in den Blick, ehe allgemeine Informationen zur Universität im 16. Jahrhundert zum Text hinführen. Eine ausführliche literaturwissenschaftliche Analyse geht neben den Entstehungsumständen des Textes auch auf die Gattung der Deklamation, die verschiedenen Gliederungsprinzipien des Textes, seine intertextuellen Bezüge sowie auf Geizkoflers Stil ein.
