Jie L. Liang, \u2712
Jie Liang moved to the United States from China after she finished high school. To further her education, she attends University of Central Florida majoring in mathematics as a first generation undergraduate. Because of her dedication to obtaining a Ph.D. degree in mathematics, she seeks research opportunities. In 2010, Jie participated in a year-long research project named GAUSS in UCF funded by NSF. She worked under Dr. Xin Li on applying reweighed least square method to face recognition and submitted their paper to Undergraduate Research Journal. In summer 2011, Jie conducted research with Dr. Garvan at University of Florida on number theory through the Summer Research Experience for Rising Senior program. Together with Dr. Andrews from Pennsylvania State University, they submitted their paper to Ramanujan Journal. As a senior, Jie is currently working on her Honors in the Major thesis with Dr. Li on approximation theory.https://stars.library.ucf.edu/mcnair_gallery/1062/thumbnail.jp

First person – Jie Sun
First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Biology Open, helping early-career researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Jie Sun is first author on ‘The transcription factor Spalt and human homologue SALL4 induce cell invasion via the dMyc-JNK pathway in Drosophila’, published in BiO. Jie conducted the research described in this article while a PhD student in Dr Jie Shen's lab at the Department of Entomology and MOA Key Laboratory for Monitory and Green Control of Crop Pest, China Agricultural University, Beijing, China. He is now a postdoc in the lab of Dr Wu-min Deng at Louisiana Cancer Research Center, New Orleans, LA, USA, investigating malignant rhabdoid childhood tumors using the Drosophila model
Single-Photon-Memory Measurement-Device-Independent Quantum Secure Direct Communication - Part II: A Practical Protocol and its Secrecy Capacity
In Part I of this two-part letter on single-photon-memory measurement-device-independent quantum secure direct communication (SPMQC), we reviewed the fundamentals and evolution of quantum secure direct communication (QSDC). In this Part II, we propose a practical protocol and analyze its secrecy capacity. In order to eliminate the security loopholes resulting from practical detectors, the measurement-device-independent (MDI) QSDC protocol has been proposed. However, block-based transmission of quantum states is utilized in MDI-QSDC, which requires practical quantum memory that is still unavailable at the time of writing. For circumventing this impediment, we propose the SPMQC protocol for dispensing with high-performance quantum memory. The performance of the proposed protocol is characterized by simulations considering realistic experimental parameters, and the results show that it is feasible to implement SPMQC by relying on existing technology.</p
Single-Photon-Memory Measurement-Device-Independent Quantum Secure Direct Communication -- Part I: Its Fundamentals and Evolution
Quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) has attracted a lot of attention,
which exploits deep-rooted quantum physical principles to guarantee
unconditional security of communication in the face of eavesdropping. We first
briefly review the fundamentals of QSDC, and then present its evolution,
including its security proof, its performance improvement techniques, and
practical implementation. Finally, we discuss the future directions of QSDC.Comment: IEEE Communications Letters, 202
Just the Right Amount of Ethics Inspires Creativity: A Cross-Level Investigation of Ethical Leadership, Intrinsic Motivation, and Employee Creativity
Based on ideology-infused psychological contract theory and cognitive evaluation theory, this study investigated the curvilinear relationship between ethical leadership and employee creativity. A curvilinear mediation model was proposed to explain the impact of ethical leadership on creativity, using employee intrinsic motivation as the mediator. Applying a two wave sampling design that consist 258 employees and their leaders, we found that employee creativity improved as ethical leadership increased from low to moderate levels. However, the employee creativity improvement was attenuated when ethical leadership increased from moderate to high levels. Furthermore, the study also revealed that employee intrinsic motivation partially mediated this curvilinear relationship. The theoretical and managerial implications are discussed
Application of cumulative sum control chart algorithm in the detection of infectious disease outbreaks
In recent years, for improving the ability of early detection on infectious disease outbreak, many researchers study the disease outbreak detection algorithms, based on many disease surveillance data, expecting to detect the abnormal increasing and cluster of disease and symptom at an early stage by adopting appropriate algorithm. This paper introduces a cumulative sum control chart method, one of statistical process control algorithms widely used in foreign countries and describes its basic principle and characteristic, key points of design, typical examples in application of disease outbreak detection of cumulative sum method, with expect to provide reference for its application in studies of disease outbreak early warning in China.</p

A Study on Derived Words of \ue2Lao Qi Da Yan Jie\ue2 and \ue2Piao Tong Shi Yan Jie\ue2
\ue3\ue3Compiled by the Division translation " Lao Qi Da " and " Piao Tong Shi " series of books, are the most authoritative, and important Chinese spoken language conversation textbook in Korean, but also the use of literacy learning Chinese textbooks. These two series use a long time, spread wide, in history has a huge impact, reflecting the three or four hundred years of modern Chinese phonology, vocabulary and grammar of a number of changes in the study of modern Chinese language has a unique value.
As the Chinese affixes involve the two levels of vocabulary, and grammar, is the important phenomenon in the history of Chinese vocabulary. It is tremendous and research value. Since the pre-Qin, \ue2derived word\ue2 has been generated more and more with the times. The increasing number of terms is generated by the derived word formation, and derived word is one important way for polyphony of Chinese language. Therefore, this paper intends to represent the Yuan and Ming northern Chinese spoken " Lao Qi Da Yan Jie " and " Piao Tong Shi Yan Jie " two books for the corpus, the word derived from two books discuss the types of use cases, and change.
\ue3There are five chapters in this thesis, except and , the derived words are discussed for the current situation. It also discusses the prefix and suffix for the two books of " Lao Qi Da Yan Jie " and " Piao Tong Shi Yan Jie". Simply, except for a few examples of non-Chinese idiom, the " Lao Qi Da Yan Jie " and " Piao Tong Shi Yan Jie " which are not the local material, but useful textbook, are in line with the common Chinese language phenomenon.
