Traditional occupation-based interventions plus electrophysical agents (EPAs) can enhance functional outcomes while containing costs. This study demonstrates that EPAs can significantly improve the client factors and performance skills necessary for obtaining wellness in human occupation.

No full textStrategies for upgrading Amazon designed by the national government had in its proposed guidelines the fragile geopolitical security and regional development, focused centrally for the installation of industrial enterprises, among them the independent steel companies, under the notion that this activity going on would for the production of steel products and so it is to be regional development. By analyzing the differences of production routes independent, integrated and semi-integrated is possible to understand how the elements of industrial plants behave in each route and how they interrelate with the regional socioeconomics. The research work with the pig iron has identified that the independent installation of steel and in the towns of Marabá (PA) and Açailândia (MA) generated unfulfilled expectations of local development, strengthening, therefore, only as an activity that allowed for economic growth, it maintained a production route that articulated the activity with the regional socio-economy in fragile and unsustainable foundations, supported mainly on the demand for charcoal. The cost structures and structural elements of each route identified the differences that each route has, especially in the relationship maintained with the regional economy because it involves new processes, technologies and differentiated products. The logic-based independent production of steel in the transfer and externalization of costs to society, labour relations and limited environmental degradation, without, however, establishing innovation processes led to the failure to establish procedures for the development of local base. The prospect of integrated steel production routes and semi-integrated that settle in the Amazon have no basis to change the scenery and regionally designed to transform the relationships maintained by an independent steel industry in the eastern Amazon, since they interconnect elements that contribute to the consolidation effects backward chaining and forward.As estratégias de modernização da Amazônia concebidas pelo Estado nacional tinham em sua proposta as fragilizadas diretrizes geopolíticas de segurança e desenvolvimento regional, voltadas centralmente para a instalação de empreendimentos industriais, dentre elas as indústrias siderúrgicas independentes, sob a noção de que desta atividade passaria para a produção produtos de aço e assim se processaria o desenvolvimento regional. Pela análise das diferenciações das rotas de produção independente, integrada e semi-integrada é possível se compreender como os elementos das plantas industriais se comportam em cada rota e como se inter-relacionam com a socioeconomia regional. O trabalho de pesquisa junto à guseiras permitiu identificar que a instalação de siderúrgicas independentes nos municípios de Açailândia (MA) e Marabá (PA) gerou expectativas frustradas de desenvolvimento local, consolidando-se, portanto, apenas como atividade que possibilitou o crescimento econômico, pois manteve uma rota de produção que articulou a atividade com a socioeconomia regional em bases frágeis e insustentáveis, apoiada, sobretudo na demanda de carvão vegetal. As estruturas de custos e elementos estruturais de cada rota permitiram identificar as diferenças que cada rota apresenta, principalmente na relação mantida com a economia regional, por envolver novos processos, tecnologias e produtos diferenciados. A lógica produtiva das siderúrgicas independentes baseadas na transferência e externalização de custos para a sociedade, relações de trabalho limitadas e na degradação ambiental, sem, contudo, estabelecer processos de inovação, conduziu ao não estabelecimento de processos de desenvolvimento de base local. A perspectiva das rotas de produção siderúrgica integrada e semi-integrada que se instalam na Amazônia tem bases para alterar o cenário regionalmente desenhado e transformar as inter-relações mantidas pela siderurgia independente na Amazônia Oriental, pois articulam elementos que contribuem para a consolidação de efeitos de encadeamento para trás e para frente

No full textEste artigo tem como objetivo analisar a trilogia de estreia de Edney Silvestre, composta por Se eu fechar os olhos agora (2009), A felicidade é fácil (2011), e Vidas provisórias (2013). Pretende-se fazer um breve balanço da contribuição do autor para a reabertura de um debate sobre o recente passado histórico-político brasileiro, e, relacionando os fatos abordados no romance com temas contemporâneos, ressaltar a relevância e a atualidade desse debate. Para isso, os textos serão analisados cronologicamente, o que visa mostrar o desenvolvimento do tratamento do sujeito histórico no conjunto de obras do autor. This paper aims to analyse Edney Silvestre’s trilogy composed by If I close my eyes now (2009), Happiness is easy (2011), and Temporary lives (2013), as well as to review the author’s contribution in reopening a debate on Brazilian’s recent historical and political past. By pointing out the relationship between the facts mentioned in thenovels and contemporary Brazil, it aims to stress the importance and up-to-dateness of this discussion. In order to achieve these goals, the novels will be analysed chronologically, which also intends to reveal the development of the way the author deals with Brazilian history throughout his oeuvre

The jamboree was held in the Asheville City Auditorium (now known as Thomas Wolfe Auditorium) from 1948 to 1973, and Hayes’ wife, Leona Trantham Hayes (1913-1989) continued to direct the program after his death in 1964. Educação superior do setor privado no Maranhão: expansão e desenvolvimento regional
No full textO presente estudo analisa a expansão do ensino superior privado no Brasil e sua contribuição para o desenvolvimento regional, para tanto utiliza-se da experiência vivenciada na região sul do estado do Maranhão principalmente a partir da primeira década do século XXI focalizando possíveis influências desse ensino privado no desenvolvimento, assim propõe como objetivo esclarecer elementos tácitos do propósito dessa expansão no segmento privado. Os fundamentos teóricos metodológicos apoiam-se nos comentários críticos de autores como Gaudêncio Frigotto observando uma educação para os ditames de uma expansão do ensino superior de bases capitalistas, ao passo que José Eli da Veiga, Celso Furtado e Pedro Demo observam elementos da estrutura conceitual do estudo do desenvolvimento destacando educação, cultura e qualidade de vida como essenciais na consecução do progresso regional. Os resultados são consubstanciados com dados censitários do Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira – INEP e do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística – IBGE, que permitem detectar indícios, de uma expansão orientada na perspectiva do fortalecimento do poder hegemônico, estruturado sob a forma de grandes multinacionais do campo educacional, operando a partir da crise e falência das pequenas e médias instituições de ensino superior do segmento privado da educação, exemplificadas na realidade sulmaranhense.</jats:p
Migrações internas e desenvolvimento regional no Meio Norte brasileiro
No full textO desenvolvimento regional na sub-região do Meio Norte brasileiro é abordado neste artigo seguindo os caminhos orientados pelos fluxos migratórios, indutores da formação histórica desse espaço. As discussões conduzidas nessa trajetória evidenciam as relações construídas para a estruturação de um sistema de produção, que caracterizou a estrutura e superestrutura norteadora do desenvolvimento dessa região. Desse modo busca-se explicar como os fluxos migratórios promoveram o desenvolvimento regional do Meio Norte brasileiro. O método do materialismo histórico, utilizado neste estudo, viabiliza o entendimento dos desdobramentos, desde a ocupação do espaço pelo migrante até este século. Aliado ao método referido coletaram-se dados censitários que complementam o esforço de compreensão, propiciada por meio dos resultados obtidos, tipificando as formas e o modelo de desenvolvimento alcançado..Código JEL | N96; O15; R23.</jats:p
Interaction of isentropic compression waves with a bow shock
No full textThe interaction of isentropic compression waves with a bow shock is numerically investigated. The relative intersection region size is introduced to characterize the convergence degree of isentropic compression waves. Among the multiple parameters involved, relative intersection region size is a crucial factor in determining the occurrence of the interference patterns, as well as the corresponding pressure and thermal loads. There exist two critical relative intersection region sizes: the small one corresponds to the intersection region size being approximately equal to the transmitted shock length in the case of Edney type IV interference, and the large one corresponds to the intersection region size being close to the transmitted shock length in the case of Edney type III interference. When relative intersection region size is lower than the small critical value, Edney interference patterns take place but their types depend on the vertical intersection location. When relative intersection region size is greater than the large critical value, none of the Edney interference patterns occurs. When relative intersection region size falls in between the two
critical values, part of Edney interference patterns occur and a subsonic jet is produced by the intersection of isentropic compression waves with the strong portion of the bow shock. The maximum interference heating reduces with relative intersection region size. Additionally, a dimensionless dependence of the maximum heat transfer intensification was inferred for practical design and calculations
Trends and gaps in precision health research: a scoping review
No full textObjective To determine progress and gaps in global precision health research, examining whether precision health studies integrate multiple types of information for health promotion or restoration.Design Scoping review.Data sources Searches in Medline (OVID), PsycINFO (OVID), Embase, Scopus, Web of Science and grey literature (Google Scholar) were carried out in June 2020.Eligibility criteria Studies should describe original precision health research; involve human participants, datasets or samples; and collect health-related information. Reviews, editorial articles, conference abstracts or posters, dissertations and articles not published in English were excluded.Data extraction and synthesis The following data were extracted in independent duplicate: author details, study objectives, technology developed, study design, health conditions addressed, precision health focus, data collected for personalisation, participant characteristics and sentence defining ‘precision health’. Quantitative and qualitative data were summarised narratively in text and presented in tables and graphs.Results After screening 8053 articles, 225 studies were reviewed. Almost half (105/225, 46.7%) of the studies focused on developing an intervention, primarily digital health promotion tools (80/225, 35.6%). Only 28.9% (65/225) of the studies used at least four types of participant data for tailoring, with personalisation usually based on behavioural (108/225, 48%), sociodemographic (100/225, 44.4%) and/or clinical (98/225, 43.6%) information. Participant median age was 48 years old (IQR 28–61), and the top three health conditions addressed were metabolic disorders (35/225, 15.6%), cardiovascular disease (29/225, 12.9%) and cancer (26/225, 11.6%). Only 68% of the studies (153/225) reported participants’ gender, 38.7% (87/225) provided participants’ race/ethnicity, and 20.4% (46/225) included people from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. More than 57% of the articles (130/225) have authors from only one discipline.Conclusions Although there is a growing number of precision health studies that test or develop interventions, there is a significant gap in the integration of multiple data types, systematic intervention assessment using randomised controlled trials and reporting of participant gender and ethnicity. Greater interdisciplinary collaboration is needed to gather multiple data types; collectively analyse big and complex data; and provide interventions that restore, maintain and/or promote good health for all, from birth to old age
