Caveolin-1 is a risk factor for postsurgery metastasis in preclinical melanoma models
No full textMelanomas are highly lethal skin tumours that are frequently treated by surgical resection. However, the efficacy of such procedures is often limited by tumour recurrence and metastasis. Caveolin-1 (CAV1) has been attributed roles as a tumour suppressor, although in late-stage tumours, its presence is associated with enhanced metastasis. The expression of this protein in human melanoma development and particularly how the presence of CAV1 affects metastasis after surgery has not been defined. CAV1 expression in human melanocytes and melanomas increases with disease progression and is highest in metastatic melanomas. The effect of increased CAV1 expression can then be evaluated using B16F10 murine melanoma cells injected into syngenic immunocompetent C57BL/6 mice or human A375 melanoma cells injected into immunodeficient B6Rag1−/− mice. Augmented CAV1 expression suppresses tumour formation upon a subcutaneous injection, but enhances lung metastasis of cells injected into the tail vein in both models. A procedure was initially developed using B16F10 melanoma cells in C57BL/6 mice to mimic better the situation in patients undergoing surgery. Subcutaneous tumours of a defined size were removed surgically and local tumour recurrence and lung metastasis were evaluated after another 14 days. In this postsurgery setting, CAV1 presence in B16F10 melanomas favoured metastasis to the lung, although tumour suppression at the initial site was still evident. Similar results were obtained when evaluating A375 cells in B6Rag1−/− mice. These results implicate CAV1 expression in melanomas as a marker of poor prognosis for patients undergoing surgery as CAV1 expression promotes experimental lung metastasis in two different preclinical models

comprensión lectora a través del uso de las TIC como estrategia en tercero. Para el uso de
estas herramientas se propone la capacitación permanente de los docentes “facilitadores” en
los aprendizajes, y a los estudiantes. La investigadora parte de experiencias exitosas en el
campo de trabajo; es decir en el grado 3º, donde se han tenido respuestas alentadoras por
parte de los estudiantes después de haber analizado y descrito las dificultades que presentaban
al no darle uso a las TIC. El tipo de investigación que se desarrolló en el proyecto es
cualitativo; aquí se interpreta lo que es, se comprende la descripción, registro, análisis e
interpretación de la naturaleza actual del problema y la composición o proceso de los
fenómenos. La muestra fue el 100% de los estudiantes de 3°. Las técnicas de recolección de
información que se utilizaron fueron la observación participante y la encuesta. Los análisis
de los resultados muestran que la propuesta logro que los estudiantes alcanzaran un nivel
básico respecto a la comprensión lectora. Como resultado de fomentar el uso de la Aplicación
Movil “App Galexia”; se observó en los estudiantes el fortalecimiento en la comprensión de

Lorena Ramirez González, and it aims to enhance reading comprehension levels through the
use of ICT as a strategy in third grade. For the use of these tools, the permanent training of
teachers "facilitators" in learning, and students is proposed. The researcher starts from
successful experiences in the work field; that is to say, in grade 3, where there have been
encouraging responses from students after having analyzed and described the difficulties they
presented when not using ICT. The type of research that was developed in the project is
qualitative; here what it is interpreted, the description, registration, analysis and interpretation
of the current nature of the problem and the composition or process of the phenomena are
understood. The sample was 100% of the 3rd grade students. The information gathering
techniques used were participant observation and survey. The analysis of the results shows
that the proposal achieved that the students reached a basic level regarding reading
comprehension. As a result of promoting the use of the Mobile Application "App Galexia";
Strengthening of text comprehension, writing and communication with others was observed

Capture and detection of extracellular vesicles derived from human breast cancer cells using a 3D self-assembled nanostructured SiO2 microfluidic chip
No full textIndexación: Web of Science.BackgroundTumor-derived extracellular vesicles offer a minimally invasive approach to evaluate tumor progression and metastasis. However, detecting biomarkers, such as extracellular vesicles in body fluids during the early stages of disease, remains a significant challenge. Conventional methods like ultracentrifugation-based isolation or Western blot protein quantification are time-consuming, require large sample volumes, and offer low yield and sensitivity. Therefore, the development of new biosensors for the specific and efficient analysis of tumor extracellular vesicles is urgently needed.MethodsMicrofluidic devices provide extraordinary benefits for bioanalysis, offering a large surface area for the contact between target molecules and the biosensor, significantly enhancing the specificity, efficiency, and speed. These devices also enable nanoscale and microscale work using reduced sample volumes. In this study, we developed a three-dimensional self-assembled SiO2-based nanostructured microfluidic chip, bioconjugated with specific antibodies targeting exosomal markers for the selective capture of CD63- and CD81-positive extracellular vesicles from breast cancer-derived conditioned cell culture media.ResultsThe three-dimensional SiO2-based microfluidic chip effectively captured extracellular vesicles expressing CD63 and CD81 antigens from breast cancer cell culture media. This evidence demonstrates the potential of this platform to detect extracellular vesicles as biomarkers for cancer, providing a specific and efficient, non-invasive approach for cancer diagnostics.ConclusionsThis study highlights the potential application of three-dimensional SiO2-based microfluidic chips for detecting extracellular vesicles as a non-invasive liquid biopsy tool for breast cancer. The findings show a specific and efficient device as an alternative to conventional biomarker detection techniques

Biopsy : A bricolage of tumoral ontological affects and movements
No full textilustraciones, diagramas, fotografías“El cáncer es la principal causa de muerte en el mundo”, así comenzaba cada proyecto que formulaba en el Laboratorio. Sin embargo, esta tesis no es sobre ese cáncer, es sobre el movimiento y sobre lo que hace el cáncer. Apoyándome en el campo de los Estudios Sociales de la Ciencia, propongo la ‘tumoralidad’ como articuladora de afectos y prácticas que posibilitan un cáncer más que de Laboratorio. La in-comprensión de ese concepto se ensambla a partir de una propuesta metodológica cercana a las etnografías imaginativas, por medio de la cual relatos, no-narraciones, cómic y pliegues se organizan en una suerte de bricolaje. La búsqueda de este texto se centra en el experimentar la dimensión afectiva de la investigación, aprender a ser afectados por el cáncer y lo tumoral, mientras de camino abrazamos la ambivalencia, intercambio ontológico y pluriverso que las entidades tumorales nos proponen. Esta tesis es una invitación a escuchar atentamente el baile ontológico del cáncer, que sucede en el Laboratorio y atraviesa nuestros cuerpos de científicos al tener un tumor en las manos, pero que también existe por fuera de este lugar, incluso en una obra de teatro. However, this thesis is not about that cancer, it is about the movement and what cancer does. Relying on the field of Social Studies of Science, I propose 'tumorality' as an articulator of affects and practices that make possible a more than Laboratory cancer. The in-comprehension of this concept is assembled from a methodological proposal close to imaginative ethnographies, through which stories, non-narratives, comics, and folds organize themselves in a sort of bricolage. The quest of this text focuses on experiencing the affective dimension of research, learning to be affected by cancer and the tumoral, while on the way we embrace the ambivalence, ontological exchange and pluriverse that tumorous entities propose to us. Ilingual edition of the golden ass of apuleyo : (philological commentary to the latino text, notes to the spanish version, retoric-literaryan alysis)
No full textLa novela El asno de oro es un texto literario de suma importancia para la tradición posterior, en tanto los juegos narrativos que plantea el autor sirven de punto de partida para obras no solo medievales, renacentistas y barrocos, sino que adelanta aspectos estructurales de la novela contemporánea, como es la organización de la materia narrativa en tramas múltiples. Si bien desde la segunda mitad del siglo XX la crítica literaria abocada a la antigüedad empezó a interesarse por esta obra tan particular, y existen actualmente traducciones españolas en las ediciones de Gredos (2008), Alianza (2013) y Winograd (2016), no hay en español una edición bilingüe con un sólido aparato crítico de la obra completa. Como se evidencia, se hace necesario una edición bilingüe anotada, que permita al lector de hoy conocer en profundidad los juegos literarios de un escritor que ya en el siglo II d. C estructura su obra con tramas múltiples. En este proyecto emplearíamos los insumos y conocimientos adquiridos en nuestro proyecto anterior, con el fin de que la edición resultante aporte a las ya existentes una mirada desde la retórica clásica y la neorretórica. Pretendemos, por lo tanto, no solo formar a nuestro equipo en las exigencias que reviste una traducción bilingüe, en tanto requiere aprehender cabalmente los diversos significados del texto y reconocer las interpretaciones genuinas del mismo (y no traducir los giros idiomáticos propio de traducciones anteriores), sino también ofrecer al medio académico una edición completa de una obra capital para el estudio del género narrativo. Debido a la envergadura de esta investigación consideramos que la totalidad de la novela de Apuleyo (once libros en total) será abarcada en tres proyectos consecutivos. Por lo que, en esta primera entrega nos proponemos editar un tomo que abarque los tres primeros libros de la novela (junto con la introducción del libro). Los restantes se repartirán equitativamente entre los dos proyectos siguientes.The novel The golden ass is a literary text of great importance for the later tradition, while the narrative games that the author poses serve as a starting point for works not only medieval and Renaissance, but advances structural aspects of the contemporary novel, how is the organization of the narrative material in multiple plots. Although since the second half of the twentieth century literary criticism devoted to antiquity became interested in this particular work, and there are currently Spanish translations in the editions of Gredos (2008), Alianza (2013) and Winograd (2016), there is in Spanish a bilingual edition with a solid critical apparatus of the complete work.As evidenced, it is necessary an annotated bilingual edition, which allows the reader today to know in depth the literary games of a writer that already in the second century AD. C structures his work with multiple plots. In this project we would use the inputs and knowledge acquired in our previous project, in order that the resulting edition will contribute to the already existing ones a view from classical rhetoric and neo-rhetoric.We intend, therefore, not only to train our team in the demands of a bilingual translation, but also to fully understand the different meanings of the text and to recognize the genuine interpretations of it (and not to translate the idioms of previous translations) , but also offer the academic environment a complete edition of a work of capital for the study of the narrative genre.Due to the size of this research, we consider that the totality of Apuleyo's novel (eleven books in total) will be covered in three consecutive projects. So, in this first installment we propose to edit a volume that covers the first three books of the novel (along with the introduction of the book).
