A Network Analysis of the Intersectoral Linkages Between Manufacturing and Other Industries in China and Italy
No full textIn recent years, the structural changes in global manufacturing and the economic crisis have sparked renewed interest in the role of manufacturing sector in driving economic development. Based on data from the World Input–Output Database (WIOD), this article uses network analysis (NA) to describe and compare inter-sectoral linkages between manufacturing and other sectors in two national economies, Italy and China, characterized by different stages of industrialization. The main metrics of the networks identified (at both node and network level) are discussed from an economic perspective. Besides confirming that manufacturing still has a fundamental role as the main source of demand for other economic activities in both countries, results highlight some fundamental differences in the structural characteristics of inter-sectoral linkages between China and Italy. Our exploratory analysis provides policymakers a complementary framework to illustrate backward and forward linkage effects, as well as potential knowledge and technology flows between industries

No full textIl piano progettuale per Villard17 ha come suo tema principale l'inversione di sguardi / di sbarchi, migrazione, ospitalità, intercultura. L'architettura del nuovo centro urbano si propone di affrontare, da un lato, la questione della creazione di un nuovo centro funzionale per Napoli e , dall'altro, la questione delle migrazioni, entrambi di grande rilevanza nell'area del Mediterraneo al giorno d'oggi. La morfologia scoscesa dell’area di Ciano tema1 suggerisce che le strutture richieste dal PRG potrebbero essere realizzate modellando il terreno. Il mercato e il centro sportivo costituiscono, infatti, una terrazza "abitata", caratterizzata da una forma irregolare che va indietro dove gli assi principali di Bagnoli diventano paralleli, lasciando spazio per piazze che sono pensate come un punto di incontro, di scambio, in costante riferimento alla costa e alle isole del golfo.
Il progetto per l’area di Viale Giochi del Mediterraneo tema1 ridisegna, lungo l'asse principale, il lotto irregolare con una facciata progettata che crea una nuova infrastruttura pensata come spazio di socializzazione attraverso la dislocazione di abitazioni e spazi pubblici. Il progetto, che parte dal margine, è un elemento plastico, un blocco di rottura, in parte trasparente, che incorpora una parte del parco progettato per il piano generale, che si può attraversare, e che sviluppa uno spazio urbano comunitario. Il progetto per l'area di viale Giochi del Mediterraneo tema 2 riconfigura l'area di forma irregolare, attraverso l'individuazione di attività pubbliche e culturali per tre religioni. L'architettura (una moschea, sinagoga e chiesa) è orientata verso le direzioni sacre dei relativi culti , con un mercato collegato ad un ex edificio scolastico, trasformato in un albergo per i rifugiati, e che, con le sue curve, divide il lotto in due parti, una piazza cortile e un agrumeto.
Attraverso l'esperienza di progettazione delle tre aree, progettazione eseguita da Maria Chiara Camarda (area1 tema1), Martina Lo Re(area2 tema1) , Luigi Savio Margagliotta (area2 tema2) e coordinata da Adriana Sarro e Luigi Pintacuda, i progettisti hanno tentato di affrontare sia il tema urbano attraverso la riconfigurazione dell’asse (convertito in parco lineare) data dall'unione del Viale Giochi del Mediterraneo e del Viale della Liberazione, sia il tema sociale dell’ ospitalità, di grande rilevanza in una città multietnica come Napoli.The design project for Villard17 has as its main theme inversion of looks/landings, migration,
hospitality, interculture. The architecture of the new urban centre aims to address the issue of creation of a new functional center of Naples on one hand and the issue of migration on the other, both of great relevance in the Mediterranean area nowadays.
The steep landform of the Ciano area_theme1 implies the facilities required by PRG could be obtained by soil modelling. The market and the the sports centre constitute in fact an “inhabited” terrace characterized by irregular shape which moves back where the main axes of Bagnoli become parallel, leaving space for squares which are meant as a point ofmeeting, exchange, in a constant reference to the coast and the Gulf islands.
The project for Viale Giochi del Mediterraneo_theme1 area redesigns, along the main axis, the irregular lot with a designed facade that creates a new infrastructure meant as socializing space
through the relocation of residences and public spaces. The project, starting from the verge, is a plastic element, a breaking block, partly transparent, which incorporates a part of the park
designed for the masterplan, that you can cross, and that develops an urban community space.
The project for the area of Viale Giochi del Mediterraneo_theme2 reconfigures the irregularly shaped area, through the identification of public and cultural activities for three religions. The
architecture (a mosque, synagogue and church) is oriented towards the sacred directions of the related cults, with a market connected to a former school building, converted into a hotel
for refugees, and that, pwinding, divides the lot into two parts, a courtyard square and a citrus
garden.
Through design experience of the three areas, design performed by Maria Chiara Camarda
(area1_theme1), Martina Lo Re (area2_theme1 ), Luigi Savio Margagliotta (area2_theme2) and coordinated by Adriana Sarro and Luigi Pintacuda, the designers attempted to address the
urban theme through axis reconfiguration (converted into linear park) given by the union of
the Viale Giochi del Mediterraneo and Viale della Liberazione, and the social one of hospitality, of great relevance in a multiethnic city like Naples.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
