Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Anatlanticus liaoningensis Liu sp. n. (Fig. 2 D, J; Fig. 3 D; Fig. 4 D; Fig. 5 D, H, N) Holotype, m [IOZ(E) 361914], China: Liaoning Prov.: Qingyuan, 1954. VIII. 16, Coll. unknown. Paratype, 1 male, same data as in holotype; 1 female [IOZ(E) 1919506], 1 male [IOZ(E) 1919507], China: Liaoning Prov.: Kuandian, 1965.VIII., Coll. Xu Wenru. Diagnosis. Small-sized compared to the species in the genus Mongolodectes. Male tegmen extending beyond middle of the seventh tergum when contracted (Figs. 2 D, J). Tenth abdominal tergum with a U-shaped notch in apical two fifths; apex of two lateral apical lobes slightly curved outwards (Fig. 5 D). Epiproct narrow, triangular, dorsally concaved (Fig. 5 D). Cerci short, robust, slightly narrowed backwards; apex with neighboring incurved inner tooth and apical hook, and the latter shorter than the former (Fig. 5 H). Subgenital plate narrow long; apical margin with a moderately triangular notch between styli, notch approximately as long as stylus (Fig. 5 N). Description. Fastigium of vertex slightly narrower than first antennal segment; dorsally with a shallow median sulcus. Compound eyes subcircular. Disc of pronotum with slightly concaved anterior margin and widely round posterior margin. Disc of prozona slightly convex, with smooth lateral margins; metazona approximately flat, with obvious lateral carinae. Disc of prozona approximately equally wide; metazona abruptly ampliate caudad from proximal part. The first transverse sulcus lying at anterior one-fifth, and central transverse sulcus shallow, Ushaped. Lateral lobes of pronotum longer than high. Tegmen bullate, widened, with clear longitudinal and cross veins; twice longer than pronotum; apex round (Figs. 2 D, J, 3 D). 2 / 3 basal part of stridulatory file on underside of left tegmen with 65 distinct stridulatory teeth (Fig. 3 D). These teeth are middle-spaced arranged and gradually becoming larger centrad. Mirror on right tegmen heart-shaped, approximately as long as wide (Fig. 4 D). Fore coxae armed with a sharp spine. Fore and median femora without ventral spines. Hind femora with 4--5 exterior and 3 interior spines on ventral margin. Fore tibiae with 6 ventral spines on both margins and 2--3 dorsal exterior spines. Middle tibiae with 6 ventral spines on both margins, 2 dorsal exterior spines and 4 dorsal interior spines. Hind tibiae with 15 exterior and 14 interior spines on dorsal margin. Female. Tegmina distinctly shorter than those in male, slightly extending beyond proximal margin of fourth abdominal tergum. Cerci twice as long as basal width, short conical. Subgenital plate much wider than longer, with a widely triangular medial incision (> 90 degree) in apical one third part. Ovipositor very long, approximately straight, slightly decurved in apical one third part, obliquely truncated at dorso-apical portion. Coloration. Generally testaceous with exception of golden tegmen. Face, gena, and compound eyes yellow. Following parts shining dark testaceous: antennae, apices of fastigium of frontis and of vertex, postocular fascia, disc of pronotum except a pair of yellowish blotches on base of metazona, lateral lobes of pronotum except a comparatively a narrow brown stripe along ventral margin of lateral lobes of pronotum, and abdominal tergite. Disc of pronotum red brown, with exception of a few dark testaceous stripes in pronota. Legs brown; fore and median femora with numerous black spots on lateral surface; hind femur with a black central stripe separated upper from lower part. Spines of each leg black. Abdominal sternite red brown. Subgenital plate brown. Etymology. The name is named for the type locality of the new species. Notes. The new species distinctly differs from A. uvarovi and A. longispeculi Liu sp. n. by the shape and size of inner and apical spines of male cerci, and those of the male apparatus. It also distinctly differs from A. uvarovi by the length of pronotum, length of male tegmen, and shape of inner and apical teeth of male cerci. Zhang Xuezhong (IZAS).</p> <p> <i>Description:</i> Holotype (male). Legs. Fore tibiae ventrally with 1 posterior apical spur and 1 posterior apical spur and 7 evenly arranged anterior spines; mid tibiae ventrally with 1 posterior apical spur and 8 spines, and 1 anterior apical spur and 6 spines; hind femur dorsally with 1 apical spur and 9 spines on both margins, ventrally with 1 apical spur on both margins, 9 anterior and 7 posterior spines.</p> <p>Wings. Tegmen short, not exceeding abdomen (Plate 4a–b); hind wing not developed well, shorter than tegmen (Plate 4a–b). Tegmen with longitudinal veins developed well, and Rs and cross veins irregular; tegminal apex rounded (Plate 4a–c). Male stridulatory area broader than long (Plate 4c).</p> <p>Abdomen. Male tenth abdominal normal, central part of dorsal surface slightly concave, apical margin wide truncated (Plate 4d,5a). Male epiproct tongue-shaped. Male cerci slender, cylindrical (Plate 5b). Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
