    Uniformly carbon-covered alumina and its surface characteristics

    Uniformly carbon-covered alumina (CCA) was prepared via the carbonization of sucrose highly dispersed on the alumina surface. The CCA samples were characterized by XRD, XPS, DTA-TG, UV Raman, nitrogen adsorption experiments at 77 K, and rhodamine B (RB) adsorption in aqueous media. UV Raman spectra indicated that the carbon species formed were probably conjugated olefinic or polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which can be considered molecular subunits of a graphitic plane. The N(2) adsorption isotherms, pore size distributions, and XPS results indicated that carbon was uniformly dispersed on the alumina surface in the as-prepared CCA. The carbon coverage and number of carbon layers in CCA could be controlled by the tuning of the sucrose content in the precursor and impregnation times. RB adsorption isotherms suggested that the monolayer adsorption capacity of RB on alumina increased drastically for the sample with uniformly dispersed carbon.     Performance of a dipstick dye immunoassay for rapid screening of Schistosoma japonicum infection in areas of low endemicity.

    BACKGROUND: The dipstick dye immunoassay (DDIA), recently commercially available in the People's Republic of China (P.R. China), is a rapid and simple test to detect human antibodies against Schistosoma Japonicum. Its performance and utility for screening schistosome infection in low endemic areas is little known. We therefore carried out a cross-sectional survey in seven villages with low endemicity of schistosomiasis in P.R. China and assessed the performance and utility of DDIA for diagnosis of schistosomiasis. Stool samples were collected and examined by the Kato-Katz method and the miracidium hatching technique. Serum samples, separated from whole blood of participants, were tested by DDIA. RESULTS: 6285 individuals aged 6-65 years old participated in this study, with a prevalence of schistosomiasis of 4.20%. Using stool examination as a gold reference standard, DDIA performed with a high overall sensitivity of 91.29% (95% CI: 87.89-94.69%) and also a high negative predictive value, with a mean value of 99.29% (95% CI: 98.99-99.58%). The specificity of DDIA was only moderate (53.08%, 95% CI: 51.82-54.34%). Multivariate analysis indicated that age, occupation and history of schistosome infection were significantly associated with the false positive results of DDIA. CONCLUSIONS: DDIA is a sensitive, rapid, simple and portable diagnostic assay and can be used as a primary approach for screening schistosome infection in areas of low endemicity. However, more sensitive and specific confirmatory assays need to be developed and combined with DDIA for targeting chemotherapy accurately

    AbstractWe consider a critical finite measure-valued super-Brownian motion X=(Xt,Pμ) in Rd, whose log-Laplace equation is associated with the semilinear equation (∂/∂t)u=12Δu−ku2, where the coefficient k(x)>0 for the branching rate varies in space, and is continuous and bounded. Suppose that suppμ is compact. We say that X has the compact support property, if Pμ⋃0⩽s⩽tsuppXsisbounded=1 for every t>0, and we say that the global support of X is compact if Pμ⋃0⩽s<∞suppXsisbounded=1. We prove criteria for the compact support property and the compactness of the global support. If there exists a constant M>0 such that k(x)⩾exp(−M||x||2) as ||x||→∞ then X possesses the compact support property, whereas if there exist constant β>2 such that k(x)⩽exp(−||x||β) as ||x||→∞ then X does not have the compact support property. For the global support, we prove that if k(x)=||x||−β(0⩽β<∞) for sufficiently large ||x||, then the maximum decay order of k for the global support being compact is different for d=1, d=2 and d⩾3: it is O(||x||−3) in dimension one, O(||x||−2(log||x||)−3) in dimension two, and O(||x||−2) in dimensions three or above

We conducted a questionnaire survey using the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK) and the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). Patients evaluated pain using a visual analogue scale. We used one-way ANOVA and logistic multiple regression analysis to identify the relevant influencing factors.Results: The TSK score was (41.88± 4.46) in 85 postoperative CSM patients, 65 males and 20 females, and there were 31 patients under 40 years old, 54 patients over 40 years old, 58 patients below high school education and 27 patients above high school education, and among them, 81.17% were diagnosed with kinesiophobia. Age was positively correlated with TSK score (r = 0.379, P < 0.05) and therefore a risk factor for kinesiophobia (OR = 1.941, 95% CI = 1.021– 3.690). Additionally, the duration of the disease was a protective factor for kinesiophobia (OR = 0.179, 95% CI = 0.053– 0.605).Conclusion: Patients with CSM were at high risk of developing kinesiophobia postoperatively. Age and duration of the disease were factors influencing the occurrence of kinesiophobia in this group.Keywords: cervical spondylotic myelopathy, influencing factors, kinesiophobia, postoperativ

    博士本論文擬模擬研究雙軸性掩埋在半空間與三層空間中複雜柱體(即包含雙軸性介質物體與完全導體)的電磁影像重建。設一未知的不均勻雙軸性介質複雜物體掩埋在其中一空間中(不論是在半空間或三層空間中),吾人可在另外的空間中適當的安排一組具有不同入射和極化方向的無關聯波照射物體並量測在此之散射場,利用簡單的矩陣運算,我們就可以克服非線性和不良情況的發生的困擾,進而重建雙軸性複雜物體的介電常數分佈。在理論部份,主要是根據邊界條件導出一組非線性的積分方程組,接著利用以動差法與無關聯照射法計算其散射場,再根據電磁成像法則,重建出介質物體內部的介電常數。在數值結果方面,將證明理論部份的正確性。此結果亦顯示即使物體的介電常數很大時,我們能成功的重建介電常數的分佈。而且即使在在量測的散射場中有高斯雜訊的存在,依然可以得到良好的重建結果。除此之外,我們也會在文中探討雜訊對重建結果的影響程度。In this thesis, inverse scattering of a biaxial complex cylinder which is buried in half space and three layers structure is investigated. Dielectric cylinders of unknown permittivities are buried in one space and scatter a group of unrelated waves incident from another space where the scattered field is recorded. By proper arrangement of the various unrelated incident fields, the difficulties of ill-posedness and nonlinearity are circumvented, and the permittivity distribution can be reconstructed through simple matrix operations. For theoretical formulation, based on the boundary condition, a set of integral equations is derived and solved by the moment method as well as the unrelated illumination method. Numerical results show that the permittivity tensor distribution of the materials can be successfully reconstructed even when the permittivity is fairly large. Good reconstruction is obtained even in the presence of additive Gaussian noise in measured data.
