Does Downloading PowerPoint Slides Before the Lecture Lead to Better Student Achievement?: Reply
Full text linkThis reply responds to a comment by Cannon (2011) that opens the debate on consistency of the effect of downloading PowerPoint slides before lectures on students’ exam performance. Cannon (2011) points out potential endogeneity problems in Chen and Lin (2008) and attempts to explore the unconditional mean effect of downloading PowerPoint slides for the full sample. In this reply, we firstly argue that the estimates in our original article are consistent since the effect of interest is the “conditional†treatment effect but not the unconditional mean effect. We provide explanations for our rationale of estimating the “conditional†treatment effect. Secondly, we propose a modified downloading variable to replicate Cannon’s analysis. Our results suggest that downloading PowerPoint slides before the exam does not produce a significant effect on absent students’ exam performance which is different from the results in Cannon (2011). Our analysis does support Cannon’s argument that students fixed effects are different across different attendance status.
Internationalization of Taiwan Cartering Industry ~The Joint Venture Contract Between Her-Bian Cartering Group and Beijing Bian Yi Fang Group
No full textBian Yi Fang was founded 2015 as a joint venture between Her Bian Group and Beijing Bian Yi Fang Roast Duck Group located at the Banana Pier in Kaohsiung. It also the first lawful joint venture (J.V.) restaurant between Taiwan and Mainland China which have been through many difficulties, such as human resource, regulations approval, ingredients of roast duck, flavor adjustment, services, operating and marketing for years. It all the important experiences of the joint venture cases in the Cross-Strait are we can discuss and study.
According to the vision of peace and development in the Cross-Strait since 2008. There is many industry cooperation but not the operations in Taiwan by joint venture. This study including the experts interview who know and participate in this case about their views and suggestions in addition to literature review. Through the J.V. Contract analysis, we plan some operation strategies for Bian Yi Fang and key success factors for the others.
To deal with the problems head-on, Bian Yi Fang have to use local ingredients to give it the traditional flavor, send the chefs from Beijing Bian Yi Fang Roast Duck Group to guild the recipe or the staff to Beijing Bian Yi Fang Roast Duck Group so they would be learning the expertise in a traditional cultural. This case has attracted widespread attention because the joint venture and it\ue2s contract have been the first case in regulations approval between Mainland China and Taiwan. And it with some helps from The People's Government of Beijing Municipality, Taiwan Affairs Office in Beijing, Beijing Dong cheng District People's Government and many experts and lawyers in Taiwan to finish the require of regulations approval.
The key success factors including both owner\ue2s determination, selfless teaching by chefs from Beijing Bian Yi Fang Roast Duck Group, Chairman Chang of Her Bian Group have good Interpersonal relationships, success in promoting internet and mobile market, combine with marketing activities of Tourism Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government, great location and vision of peace and development in the Cross-Strait since 2008. In the strategies of promotion are combined with roast duck and Shandong cuisine in traditional Beijing cultural, opportunity to expand business, innovation management by integrating with service and cultural, special offer of roast duck of delivery and wedding banquet, media and international marketing and trade mark of Bian Yi Fang and so on.
In this case, it still has to deal with many difficulties in catering joint venture of the Cross-Strait. In chairman Liu\ue2s opinion (Beijing Bian Yi Fang Roast Duck Group), \ue2outdoor\ue2 is the tactics that can become a springboard to success and expand business overseas with the experience from Bian Yi Fang in Taiwan; likewise, Her Bian Group put the manpower, material resources and financial resources into it too. It\ue2s a good thing that enterprise cooperate with creating strength, solving problem and gathering consensus. Ergo, it concurs with chairman Liu\ue2s opinion, \ue2finished first, then completed, perfect ending finally,\ue2 and be a new milestone of joint venture of the Cross-Strait in Taiwan
THE RECEPTION OF INTERTEXTUALITY IN LIN YI-HAN'S NOVEL "FANG SI-QI'S FIRST LOVE PARADISE"

Поднимая в произведении серьезные социальные проблемы, связанные с домашним и школьным насилием, автор выстраивает сложную систему повествования, совмещая разные типы несобственно прямой авторской речи. Раскрывая сложный внутренний мир героинь, учениц старших классов, Линь Ихань использует различные приемы интертекстуальности (цитаты, аллюзии, реминисценции), наполняя произведение различными внутренними связями текста романа с классикой китайской и мировой литературы. Эти связи создают ситуации диалога, в котором читатель находит объяснение многих странностей поведения юных героинь. В данной статье выявляются приемы интертекстуальности, которые служат средством разоблачения, осуждения пороков взрослого мира, безжалостно разрушающего детские мечты и иллюзии. Они проясняют авторскую идею о многоликости зла, об ответственности художественного слова за формирование характера современной молодежи. Авторы работы, опираясь на исследования М. Бахтина, Ю. Кристевой, намечают рецепции творчества Э. Хемингуэя, Ф. Достоевского, В. Набокова в романе Линь Ихань "Райский сад первой любви".This article is dedicated to analyses of one of the most polemic modern Taiwanese pieces - Lin Yi-han's "Fang Si-Qi's First Love Paradise". Raising such serious social issues as domestic and school violence, author creates sophisticated narrative system, which combines different types of author's free indirect speech. Revealing the complex inner world of two main characters, high school students, Lin Yi-han uses different methods of intertextuality (e.g. quotes, allusions, reminiscences), which are filling the piece with different inner connections of the piece's text with the classics of Chinese and world literature. These connections create special dialogs where readers can find an explanation for many strange main character's behavior traits. In this article we are discovering methods of intertextuality which serve as a means of exposure and condemnation of the adult world's vices, which are ruthlessly destroying kids' dreams and illusions. They are clarifying the author's idea of the diversity of evil, the idea of responsibility of the artistic word for shaping the character of modern youth. Article's authors are building on M. Bakhtin's and Y. Kristeva's researches, laying out receptions of E. Hemingway's, F. Dostoyevsky's, V.Nabokov's pieces in Lin Yi-han's "Fang Si-Qi's First Love Paradise".168-17

It makes Lin Ze-Xu\ue2s Confucian temperament and tragic mood more, also contrasts with author\ue2s sorrow and furiousness for the politics at the time. History, court case, martial arts\ue2\ua6\ue2\ua6etc. are essence of this book and it broadens the way of this writing style.
The topic of the thesis is \ue2An Analysis of Judge Lin\ue2. The following thesis will be divided into six different chapters. The introduction is Chapter one of the thesis, which is including researching motive and purpose, literature review of predecessors, researching version by existing information, raising questions, choosing research methods and arranging chapters. In chapter Two, I discuss the study of characters of Lin Ze-Xu, also makes a deep analysis of author\u27s purpose of writing him. In chapter Three, I analyze supporting actors and actress.
