Nan Lin and social capital

    No full text
Nan Lin’s work on social capital is a significant, unique contribution. My purpose here is to explain that statement by looking at the work in historical context. Figure 2.1 is an index for much of the story to be told. The horizontal axis is time, beginning in 1975 when Nan Lin was at the State University of New York at Albany (now the University of Albany), through his 1990 move to Duke University, and on to 2010

Threatened fishes of the world: Tanichthys albonubes Lin 1932 (Cyprinidae)

    No full text
The white cloud mountain minnow Tanichthys albonubes Lin is an endemic species to southern China and the genus has two species, Tanichthys albonubes Lin and Tanichthys micagemmae Freyhof et Herder. The distribution range of T. albonubes Lin and T. micagemmae is very narrow and only found in the mountain brooks of Baiyunshan Mountain (White Cloud Mountain), Huaxian Country and the vicinity of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province and Halong, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam respectively. The wild populations of this fish had already been on the verge of extinction when Shu-Yan Lin first discovered it in 1932 at the Baiyunshan Mountain. It was believed to be extinct in the wild because there were no reports of this fish in the wild since 1980. In September 2003, a small and isolated population of the fish was discovered in a mountain puddle in the north vicinity of Guangzhou. Additional studies are needed to determine the survival and propagation of the released fish. The protection of their natural habitat should be implemented. The white cloud mountain minnow Tanichthys albonubes Lin is an endemic species to southern China and the genus has two species, Tanichthys albonubes Lin and Tanichthys micagemmae Freyhof et Herder. Biography of Lin Wen Zhong Gong has another way to call, that is Judge Lin. The leading character is Lin Ze-Xu. This book is based on functionary experience of Lin Ze-Xu, with the captivating plots of court case, helping by highly skilled military attach\uc3\ua9s and chivalrous knights, and the history facts of Opium War. It makes Lin Ze-Xu\ue2s Confucian temperament and tragic mood more, also contrasts with author\ue2s sorrow and furiousness for the politics at the time. History, court case, martial arts\ue2\ua6\ue2\ua6etc. are essence of this book and it broadens the way of this writing style. The topic of the thesis is \ue2An Analysis of Judge Lin\ue2. The following thesis will be divided into six different chapters. The introduction is Chapter one of the thesis, which is including researching motive and purpose, literature review of predecessors, researching version by existing information, raising questions, choosing research methods and arranging chapters. In chapter Two, I discuss the study of characters of Lin Ze-Xu, also makes a deep analysis of author\u27s purpose of writing him. In chapter Three, I analyze supporting actors and actress. Meanwhile, I illustrate author\u27s purpose of writing supporting actress because the author had different manner to describe supporting actress. Moving to the Chapter Four, I mainly focus on the plots of Judge Lin, and organize cases of Lin Ze-Xu and his subordinates to understand features of cases. In Chapter Five, I represent the causes of Opium War. China and England had difference of opinions of opium. Therefore, it is easier to comprehend what the author\u27s purpose is. In the last chapter I summarize the main points of the preceding chapters and confirm particularity of Judge Lin

Genus Paranubiella Xu, Huang & Lin, 2018
Paranubiella Xu, Huang & Lin, 2018 in Guo et al., 2018: 99–100.

Type species: Paranubiella atentaculata (Xu & Huang, 2004).

Diagnosis. The genus can be recognized by following: medusae mouth simple, circular, with simple unbranched oral tentacles rising well above mouth rim and terminal slightly swollen with concentration of cnidocysts; umbrella with 4 marginal bulbs, each without tentacle; gonads on manubrium, either forming a continuous ring or in interradial or perradial position.

Remarks. The genus Paranubiella was erected based on Nubiella atentaculata Xu & Huang, 2004 by having 4 marginal bulbs without single tentacle (Guo et al., 2018). The same structure is also found in other species from the northern South China Sea.

So far, the genus Paranubiella comprises three species: P. atentaculata (Xu & Huang, 2004), P. nanhaiensis Xu, Huang & Guo, 2018 and P. shenzhenensis Xu, Guo & Wang, sp. nov.
Published as part of Wang, Xuefeng, Lin, Kun, Xu, Zhenzu, Guo, Donghui & Huang, Jiaqi, 2019, Some new Hydroidomedusa (Cnidaria) from the northern South China Sea, pp. 191-205 in Zoological Systematics 44 (3) on pages 193-194, DOI: 10.11865/zs.201923, http://zenodo.org/record/5366458</a&gt

Spatial Chow-Lin Methods for Data Completion in Econometric Flow Models

    No full text
Flow data across regions can be modeled by spatial econometric models, see LeSage and Pace (2009). Recently, regional studies became interested in the aggregation and disaggregation of flow models, because trade data cannot be obtained at a disaggregated level but data are published on an aggregate level. Furthermore, missing data in disaggregated flow models occur quite often since detailed measurements are often not possible at all observation points in time and space. In this paper we develop classical and Bayesian methods to complete flow data. The Chow and Lin (1971) method was developed for completing disaggregated incomplete time series data. We will extend this method in a general framework to spatially correlated flow data using the cross-sectional Chow-Lin method of Polasek et al. (2009). The missing disaggregated data can be obtained either by feasible GLS prediction or by a Bayesian (posterior) predictive density.Missing values in spatial econometrics, MCMC, non-spatial Chow-Lin (CL) and spatial Chow-Lin (SCL) methods, spatial internal flow (SIF) models, origin and destination (OD) data

    (A) AVM was posteriorly displaced in lin-39(n1760) mutants, but the expression of TRN fate marker uIs115[mec-17p::TagRFP] was not affected in lin-39 mutants. (B) The displaced AVM also expressed the TRN fate marker zdIs5[mec-4p::GFP] in lin-39 mutants. Scale Bars = 100 μm. (TIF)</p
