Paroxyplax Cai 1984
Genus Paroxyplax Cai, 1984 Paroxyplax Cai, 1984, Acta Entomol. Sin. 27 (2): 211, 213. Type species: Paroxyplax menghaiensis Cai, 1984, by original designation. Note. The genus includes middle-sized moths with brownish ground color. The male antennae are bipectinate till to the tip, with a cluster of long scale tuft at distal 1/4; female antennae are filiform. The labial palpi are slightly up-curved, but not reaching beyond the frontal tuft. The thorax and abdomen are stout, densely covered with scales; the base of tegula bearing an erect angled scale tuft, the same tuft also present at the middle of metathorax and basal segment of dorsally abdomen. The basal half of the costal margin in the forewing are straight, the distal half are slightly arched; the apes is pointed; the tornus is rounded. The tibial spurs are 0-2-4. The male genitalia are highly modified, the uncus is very short; the gnathos is divided into upper and lower parts; the valva is slender, with a distinct, large, horn-shaped process at the base of the costa; the juxta is developed. The phallus is moderately stout and straight, usually split at the terminal part. In the female genitalia, the papillae anales is broad; the anterior apophyses is short, whereas the posterior apophyses is slender; the lamella postvaginalis is large, but without the plate-shaped process; the ductus bursae is short and straight; the corpus bursae is large, without signa.Published as part of Wu, Jun & Han, Hui-Lin, 2023, New species and records of Paroxyplax Cai, 1984 (Lepidoptera: Limacodidae) and its allies from China, with a checklist of the treated genera, pp. 383-397 in Zootaxa 5254 (3) on page 384, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5254.3.5, http://zenodo.org/record/772769

The general habitus of the holotype is given in Fig. 6 and its epigynal morphology is given in Fig. 5.

Distribution. China (Hainan).

Comments. Identification of Agyneta mingshengzhui is difficult because the male is unknown (A. Tanasevitch, personal communication). Its collection at the type locality in future is necessary to confirm the generic placement of the species, although the female morphology is more consistent with a placement in Nesioneta Millidge, 1991 than in Agyneta Hull, 1911, where it is currently placed; we thus propose its transfer to Nesioneta.
Published as part of Lin, Yejie, Wu, Lingbing, Cai, Ducheng, Li, Shuqiang, Barrion, Alberto Tomas & Heong, Kong-Luen, 2023, Review of 43 spider species from Hainan Island, China (Arachnida, Araneae), pp. 501-533 in Zootaxa 5351 (5) on pages 508-510, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5351.5.1, http://zenodo.org/record/8392152
Dictis edwardsi Lin & Wu & Cai & Li & Barrion & Heong 2023, comb. nov.
Dictis edwardsi (Barrion, Barrion-Dupo & Heong, 2013), comb. nov.
Figs 11, 12A–C

Scytodes edwardsi Barrion, Barrion-Dupo & Heong, in Barrion et al., 2013: 28, fig. 31A–D (♀).

Type material of Scytodes edwardsi (examined). Holotype ♀ (coll. no. S062), CHINA: Hainan Island, Panja Town, Songtao Reservoir, 3.IV.2011, leg. A. T. Barrion et al .; Paratypes: 2♀, same data as holotype.

Description and diagnosis. See Barrion et al. (2013) for the original description of the species. The holotype female habitus is depicted in Fig. 12 and its vulva is shown in Fig. 11. The females (males unknown) can be distinguished from other species of Dictis L. Koch, 1872 by the outer spermathecae that are larger than the inner spermathecae, and by the distance between the postepigastric foveae being narrower than their width.

Distribution. China (Hainan).

Comments. As S. edwardsi only possesses two tarsal claws, it belongs to the genus Dictis L. Koch, 1872. Although the female of D. edwardsi is similar to D. elongata Dankittipakul & Singtripop, 2010 by the outer spermathecae being larger than the inner spermathecae, the foveae of this species are similar to Scytodes tardigrada Thorell, 1881 (Chrysanthus 1967: fig. 12). In females of both species, the pairs of foveae and the internal genital receptaculae are variable and not reliable for taxonomic decision-making; it is therefore essential to discover and describe the male. This taxonomic question should be revisited again in the future.
Published as part of Lin, Yejie, Wu, Lingbing, Cai, Ducheng, Li, Shuqiang, Barrion, Alberto Tomas & Heong, Kong-Luen, 2023, Review of 43 spider species from Hainan Island, China (Arachnida, Araneae), pp. 501-533 in Zootaxa 5351 (5) on page 517, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5351.5.1, http://zenodo.org/record/8392152
