The Presence of An Immortal: A Study of Sun Long’s “24-Leaf Album of Sketches from Life”
No full text本文的研究圍繞明代畫家孫隆而展開的，立基在新材料的基礎上，藉由文獻考證、收藏史、風格分析與圖像意涵等取徑重建孫隆此人的生平、指出他在當代的重要形象，並且復原一套就研究孫隆而言重要的作品，進一步扣合生平、作品、風格指出孫隆畫風中道教美術特質的展現。
第二章〈重塑孫隆其人〉著重在新舊文獻材料的爬梳、考證與討論，還原明代人對孫隆的認識。並提出若要理解孫隆的風格，必須正視孫隆另外兩個生平背景：孫隆在十五世紀是活躍於江南的草蟲畫名手以及他具有道教徒的背景，當時的人十分清楚此一背景與畫風的關連。藉此，本文還推敲出更多孫隆的生平，盡可能還原孫隆在明代的形象。
對孫隆的新認識必須落實於畫作上，第三章〈從成冊與流傳看孫隆的寫生冊〉就是從收藏史的角度復原一套孫隆冊頁。孫隆現存的作品中有兩套是分藏國立故宮博物院的《寫生冊》以及上海博物館的《花鳥草蟲冊》，《寫生冊》裡有一開山水，十分特別。我發現這兩套冊頁原為同一件作品，且以同一冊的形式流傳了一段時間，可稱為《二十四開寫生冊》。綜合各種跡象，還能進一步復原《二十四開寫生冊》原有的排列邏輯，恢復《二十四開寫生冊》的原貌。
《二十四開寫生冊》的原貌反映了孫隆繪畫的三種重要風格：院畫、草蟲、道教美術。道教美術的風格無疑是最為人忽略的一種。第四章〈《二十四開寫生冊》的風格分析〉最具新意的部分，則是從畫家身分、觀者評價、風格分析與圖像學進行探討，指出孫隆的繪畫風格與道教「生意」的概念有密切的關係。本文沿用道教美術一詞，是希望指出像孫隆這類具有道教背景的畫家，其筆墨特質非同一般，他們有意塑造出一種與道教思想有關的畫意，即使其作品不用於儀式，仍可視為道教美術的一種。
藉此也能適切的理解《二十四開寫生冊》之組成，山水與花鳥草蟲並存不是隨意拼湊，而是透過「生意」統合這些冊頁。孫隆此人的氣質被畫史形容為仙風道骨一般，而他的風格也被比擬為具有仙人的特質。此一面向在過去一段時間裡面消失了，藉由《二十四開寫生冊》的探討，我們能夠落實對孫隆獨特風格的認識
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
